Display of Swastika Now a Prison Sentence

Australia: Swastikas have been criminalised in the state of New South Wales. The claim is that the offence occurs when you display a swastika in public. However, in the article below, there is talk of the criminal display of a swastika inside a person's home - that coincidentally happens to be relatively close to a synagogue. The photo of the alleged crime supplied to the mainstream media (MSM) was taken by an anonymous person who climbed over the back fence of the home in question.

Despite their talk of criminalising only public displays of swastikas, the Anti-Defamation Commission (ADC/ADL - a global Jewish Supremacist Hate Whitey group), along with obedient politicians, police and MSM are seeking to have imprisoned ANYBODY known to have a swastika in their possession.

It might be time to dig out my old WWII German flags to put on display somewhere in my home - which already has a fair number of swastikas and other such items adorning the walls and shelves ~ but then, I live in South Australia, not New South Wales.

Waving a Nazi flag or displaying memorabilia bearing swastikas will be criminalised in NSW with the state government preparing laws to ban the hateful symbol.

Attorney-General Mark Speakman has indicated the government is committed to introducing its own bill to criminalise the public display of Nazi symbols in order to 'provide an additional safeguard to the existing protections in NSW against vilifying conduct'.

The announcement comes after a NSW parliamentary inquiry in February unanimously recommended a ban on the public display of Nazi symbols.

Labor MP Walt Secord, who introduced a bill and has been campaigning for two years on the issue, welcomed the Attorney General's plan.

'Sadly, we are seeing a surge in far right-wing activity in Australia and overseas. Put simply, I want to see the public display of Nazi symbols banned in NSW,' he said on Monday.

Jewish advocacy groups also commended the Government's decision.

'This legislation will ensure there is a clear distinction between legitimate and unlawful use of Nazi symbols. It is a much-needed law in our state,' said NSW Jewish Board of Deputies CEO Darren Bark.

Australia has one of the highest number of Holocaust survivors per capita worldwide.

Under Mr Secord's proposed legislation, the maximum penalty for an individual flouting the ban would be a $5500 fine or imprisonment for six months or both.

However, the committee recommended some exceptions.

The swastika symbol would only be used in historical or educational settings, thereby paving the way for its display by Hindus.

Because of a 'superficial resemblance between the Sacred Swastika and the Nazi hate symbol of Hakenkreuz, faith communities have not been able to display their sacred icon in public for fear of persecution,' Hindu Council of Australia National Vice-President Surinder Jain said.

Last year Victoria became the first state or territory to initiate legislation outlawing Nazi symbols.

Mr Secord said 31 incidents of displays of Nazi flags were reported to the police in 2020, including one in a home close to a synagogue in the inner-western Sydney suburb of Newtown.

A NSW man arrested by counter-terrorism police in September was found to be in possession of a Nazi flag and a map of the state on his bedroom wall with plans to make a 3D-printed gun.

Dr Dvir Abramovich, Chairman of the Anti-Defamation Commission, said: 'This is not Nazi Germany, and this escalating virus of antisemitism and bigotry has to stop.

'Another day, another sickening and abhorrent outburst of neo-Nazi vandalism, and if this hate spree continues, Melbourne will soon be known as the swastika capital of Australia.'

One way to see it is this, as I heard from a man who spent time in prison, the more the guards shake them down, the harder they try to control, the sharper and wiser those locked-up become.

One way to see it is this, in my opinion, the Swastika is the most powerful symbol on the planet, the more it is hidden, the more it is covered up, the stronger it will become to those who wield it's power, it may be a few, but the power becomes concentrated like a powerful (ex)tract of it's original form, a highly concentrated form that packs a punch 10x or 100x or 1000X or 10,000x it's original force. Those who hold it near their heart will shine it's power through their eyes, through their voice and energy. The waving of a flag is one thing, to hold it in your heart and mind, the symbol that  generally strikes fear, mystery, hatred, confusion and awe into the heart and mind of the viewer fortifies a man into something higher and mightier.

Or perhaps I'm just nuts.

Police launched an investigation after a highly-charged Australia Cup final between Sydney United 58 and Macarthur FC last October.

Followers of semi-professional club Sydney United were widely condemned after they allegedly raised their arms in Nazi salutes.

Images from the match showed Sydney United 58 supporters throwing their arms up in apparent 'Sieg Heil' salutes, while some of their fellow fans reportedly sang a chant associated with a Croatian far-right movement.

On Friday, after an extensive police investigation which involved detectives poring over hours of broadcast footage and CCTV, officers charged three men.

Police issued a 24-year-old Beverley Park man with a court attendance notice and charged him with knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol without an excuse.

A 44-year-old Doonside man and 45-year-old Wetherill Park man were charged with the same offence.

All three will appear in Parramatta Local Court on April 19.

Last year, the government introduced new legislation which banned the public display of Nazi and other symbols associated with antisemitism and racism.

It is the first high profile case in which a person has been charged with the offence.

Anyone found guilty of the offence of displaying a Nazi symbol without an excuse faces a maximum penalty of 12 months imprisonment and/or an $11,000 fine.

Following the Australia Cup final, the alleged actions of the fans were slammed by Premier Dominic Perrottet.

Mr Perrottet said he was horrified by the fans' behaviour and called for lifetime bans.

'My position is that if they are caught, there should be life bans in place,' he said last October.

'This behaviour is not acceptable in our great country.'

Peak Jewish [SUPREMACIST] organisation, the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, condemned the incident and the alleged actions of the fans.

'The NSW Jewish Board of Deputies condemns the reprehensible behaviour of football fans who chanted songs with fascist links and performed Nazi salutes during the Australia Cup final last night,' the organisation said in a statement at the time.

'These vile salutes have no place in modern Australian society and we call on Football Australia to take immediate action against the perpetrators.
