A young British tourist has warned travellers to be careful when passing through Outback Australia after sharing a 'horror story' about her friend's experience

Speaking directly to the camera, Ash recounted how a friend had stopped at a service station in Fitzroy Crossing, a small town in the Kimberley region, 400km east of Broome.

Ash said her friend was waiting in the car while her partner went to pay, 'and some kid came up to the window and tried to break into the car'.

'We're being super cautious and I have literally locked myself in the car,' Ash said in response to the story, holding the keys up to the camera.

'But it's to the point where every single person we've spoken to said if you're travelling Broome-Derby all the way through to Darwin, if you're stopping anywhere, just be super careful.'

Fitzroy Crossing is a popular stop-over destination as it is one of only two towns on the well-travelled 1,000km highway stretch between Broome and Kununurra.

Social media users said they had not encountered problems in the region, though they were extremely careful.

'Omg halls creek was pretty scary driving through tbh,' one wrote.

'I'm so glad you didn't have any issues, especially travelling completely by yourself!' Ash responded.

'We actually ended up driving for about 11 hours straight from Derby to Kununurra in the end!' she wrote.

Ash replied to another comment, 'We didn't have any trouble thankfully, but good to be careful.'

Earlier this year there was a major outbreak of violence in Halls Creek, three hours drive from Fitzroy Crossing.

Police were called to the scene of the out-of-control gathering to discover around 40 people fighting.

WA Police say some were armed with knives, stones, sticks, metal bars and bricks.

Officers broke up the brawl after deploying backup from Broome, Kununurra and Fitzroy Crossing.

Liquor stores in Halls Creek were ordered to close to help stop alcohol-fuelled violence.

The troubled town has become infamous as a crime hotspot.

In 2022, unruly teenagers stole cars, destroyed property and caused havoc on the streets of Halls Creek - leaving residents too scared to leave their homes

No mention of who does all this but this area they speak of is an Abo, welfare town zone. Basically, anybody who isn't an Abo is "fair game" or their property.

People make money from the welfare of blacks here and they won't consider moving them to areas where they can be employed for the betterment of the nation!

A tradesman who cable-tied the hands of three young Aboriginal children and then filmed them has been found guilty of two counts of aggravated common assault

Matej Radelic, 46, an air-conditioning installation boss, had a single day trial last month after he pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated common assault but on Friday was found guilty of two of those charges.

The children had been swimming in Radelic's parents' backyard pool without permission when he restrained them.

He was acquitted of the third assault charge by Magistrate Deen Potter as that child was restrained for a shorter time period and was able to leave after he broke free.

Magistrate Deen Potter found Radelic's use of force was not 'reasonably necessary' given the circumstances and described the 46-year-old tradie as a 'towering figure', the ABC reported.

'While he was on the telephone he described the children as being scared and crying,' Magistrate Potter said, adding their distress should have been an indication Rdelic's force was excessive.

'Therefore at some point, (it must have) become blatantly clear that the continued application of force must have become unreasonable.

'There's an inescapable fact that the children were very and clearly distressed by their captivity,' he concluded.

Though, the Magistrate did acknowledge previous break-ins to Radelic's property, and that the tradie was responding to what he saw as trespass and criminal damage, leading to the 'citizen's arrest'.

Radelic received a $2,000 fine, suspended for a 12-month period, and a spent conviction.

Both the prosecution and defence agreed on a statement of material facts in the brief trial last month.

Both parties reportedly acknowledged Radelic had bound the children's hands, and the children had engaged in trespass and criminal damage to the tradie's property, irrespective of their age.

The trial, instead, focussed on the necessity of restraining the children with cable ties.

Radelic's lawyer Seamus Rafferty argued the 46-year-old had been a 'victim of crime' after a multiple preceding break-ins, according to the BBC. It wasn't suggested they were done by the same children.

He said the tradie actioned a legal citizen's arrest, though he conceded the cable ties were 'not a good look'.

In sentencing submissions, the court heard the incident had significantly impacted Radelic's family and business.

Police prosecutor Michael Gregg reportedly argued that, though Radelic may have carried out a lawful citizen's arrest, it was unreasonable to have restrained the children with cable ties, especially given they'd been compliant with instructions.

Sargeant Gregg reportedly feared the incident had a dehumanising impact on the children.

In footage of the incident obtained exclusively by Daily Mail Australia, Radelic can be heard complaining to the person recording him: 'They are on my property.

'It's not the first time - six times [this has happened],' he claimed.

Regional WA Acting Assistant Commissioner Rod Wilde said a neighbour called police at 1.35pm on Tuesday after noticing the children swimming in an 'unoccupied' pool.

'About 10 minutes later police received a call from a male person who [allegedly] said he had restrained three children for causing damage in that backyard,' Commissioner Wilde said.

Police will allege a fourth boy had also been in the pool but managed to flee and alert family members to what was going on.

A woman, who is related to the little girl and the seven-year-old boy, livestreamed the shocking ordeal and said the tradie refused to let them go.

'When we tried to walk in there to get them he pushed me and my mum out of the yard,' she told the West Australian newspaper earlier on Wednesday.

'When we pulled up there, and when that man was pushing me out of the gate... the little (eight-year-old) boy snapped the cable ties with his hands and then he just jumped over the fence and ran down the road.

'It was just upsetting, we were so angry with (the tradie) just shouting at him, telling him to let them go but he just didn't want to listen to us.'

The relative said Radelic kept saying he was 'waiting for police' to arrive.

She said one of the kids also claimed the man told them he was going to 'hit them with a big stick'.

St John Ambulance paramedics assessed the children, who have since been reunited with their family.

After officers arrived at the property, Radelic was taken into custody and interviewed.

His company's website has been taken offline after it was bombarded by one-star Google reviews in the wake of the incident, and the business phone is switched off.

Police are searching for a stolen car after a robbery at Modbury in the early hours of this morning.

About 12.07am today (Friday 18 October), police were called to a shopping centre car park on North East Road after a man reported that he and his girlfriend had been threatened by two men who demanded the keys to his car.

One of the suspects was armed with a knife.

The victim gave the males his keys and they attempted to start his vehicle, a grey 2015 Mercedes-Benz sedan with registration XD428W with thin-spoke mag wheels.

The suspects couldn't work out how to release the handbrake, and when the victim tried to get his keys back he was assaulted by the suspects.

The pair then drove off in the car with the handbrake still on, with the car making a loud grinding noise as it drove away.

The victim received a cut to his finger and was also punched in the head. He was treated at hospital for his injuries.

The woman was not injured.

The first suspect is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 170cm tall, medium build and was wearing dark clothing. The second suspect is also described as being of Aboriginal appearance, about 176cm tall, slim build and was wearing dark clothing. Both men were believed to be in their early 20s
