Alice Springs' youth curfew will be extended for a further week, as authorities hail the "encourage results" from an initial two-week ban.

Northern Territory Chief Minister Eva Lawler said the extension to April 15 would mean the curfew would last throughout the NT's school holidays

"We've seen very encouraging results with introduction of the youth curfew," she said.

Imposed on March 27 when the NT government declared an emergency following escalating violence in the red centre, the curfew bans anyone under 18 from entering the Alice Springs town centre between 6pm-6am without a valid reason.

It was originally intended as a "circuit breaker", but Lawler said it was important for the town not to lose momentum.

"We're taking a common-sense approach to improving community safety in Alice Springs," she said.

"Work is being done right now to ensure that the community is prepared for when the curfew ends and we continue to have a strong presence from police, Territory Families and the Department of Education."

Tuesday's announcement follows a meeting of senior NT bureaucrats on Monday to discuss extending the curfew, which had been due to end on Wednesday.

School holidays tend to see an influx of young people into Alice from surrounding communities.

The initial 14-day curfew was imposed as part of an emergency declaration to quell a conflagration of violence in the desert town.

Rising tensions were inflamed by the death of an 18-year-old in a fatal car accident in early March. He died after hanging out of the window of a stolen car that rolled over in the Alice Springs CBD and was left there by the driver and passengers.

Hostilities between families exploded when a large group attacked the Todd Tavern, leaving a $30,000 damage bill.

Brawls continued later in the night as family members mourned the death, with up to 150 people clashing in town camps. Police made several arrests and seized more than 50 weapons, including spears, axes and clubs.

Lawler called the emergency declaration the next day, imposing the curfew and deploying an extra 58 police officers to the town.

South Australian police officers will also be sent to Alice Springs to support their NT counterparts.

The NT opposition called on the government to extend the curfew until the end of April and give police more teeth to hold parents accountable.

"The curfew can't just be a drop off service, forcing our police to run around in circles," shadow treasurer Bill Yan said.

"It has to be a curfew with consequences."

A young Indigenous girl has revealed how she contemplated taking her own life after she was accused of shoplifting

Alinta, the daughter of Chloe Quayle, a popular rapper aka Barkaa, said she was stopped by a security guard while shopping at a Chemist Warehouse store in Sydney.

'I wanted to buy some makeup and hair products like I'm sure many other teen girls would, but at the end of my shopping spree a security guard told my mother to get the receipt for the stuff we had bought at the counter,' she said.

'We complied... that was until a white shopper was able to leave the store without hassle. It was then my mum instantly pointed this out and asked the security guard if he was going to ask the other shoppers for a receipt as well.

She said that the security guard started threatening to involve the police simply because her mother was recording him.

'My mother stopped recording and he proceeded to accuse me of theft. This brought me into the spotlight and all eyes were on me,' she continued.

'I was just painted as a criminal. My life began to crumble in those moments as I hyperventilated,' she explained.

She explained that if her mother hadn't stepped in to defend her, she would have allowed the security guard to pat her down in the store.

'In desperation to prove my innocence, I dropped my bag and jacket on the floor as I sobbed,' she said.

'The sad thing about this is that I truly believed that I had done something wrong. I believed that maybe I had a gap in my memory or stole something by accident.

'My dignity and self-esteem was stripped away from me in a second and for the rest of my night I cried and sobbed.

'I even contemplated taking my own life because how could I bear to live in a world that hated me.'

Alinta said it had been her own decision to share her story to raise awareness.

'This has happened to my mother, my grandmother and probably the whole family tree since colonisation. Nothing has changed,' she said.

Her mother has demanded Chemist Warehouse fire the security guard allegedly responsible for the incident.

The ironic thing in it all is that my daughter also plays footy for a team that's main sponsor is Chemist Warehouse,' she wrote on Facebook.

'Not only did they target an innocent Blak child and demonised her in the store, they targeted one of their players.'

She said Chemist Warehouse had contacted her about the incident, and that she had passed on her lawyer's details.

'So sick and tired of our babies having to beg and plead for their innocence, so sick and tired of us having to protect our babies from this before they even get the chance to fully understand how racist this country can be.

'So sick and tired of Blak children not being seen in the same light us non-indigenous children all because of stereotypes and the severe racism.'

In a statement, Chemist Warehouse told Daily Mail Australia it was aware of the incident.

'Under no circumstances do we condone the ill treatment of our customers,' it said.

'We want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our customers and staff are our top priority and we understand the distress this incident may have caused for all those involved

Excerpt: A group of Aboriginal teenage girls has been accused of wreaking havoc and assaulting commuters on an Adelaide train line.

The group has been threatening and terrorising commuters on the Seaford train line, on the Eyre Peninsula, for the past few weeks.

An Adelaide mother confronted the teenage Aboriginal girls after they allegedly attacked her 17-year-old daughter on Wednesday evening.

She was alerted to the incident after she received SOS text messages from her daughter who said she was being robbed.

'They were saying give me your bag, give me your phone, give me your glasses,' the mother told 9News.

'Grabbed her by the hair, pulled her head backwards and started punching her.

'As a mother, it makes me feel helpless.'

A SA Police spokesperson confirmed police were [NOT] investigating the alleged assault.

'Just after 6.15pm Wednesday 1 May, a teenage girl was assaulted on the Seaford Line train by a group of girls unknown who attempted to steal her bag and phone,' the spokesperson confirmed.

'The female victim received minor injuries.'

The spokesperson said police are reviewing CCTV footage, and all three suspects had long brown hair and were aged between 12 and 15-years-old described as being of Aboriginal appearance,' they said.

Another girl, 19, believed she was attacked by the same group of girls when she was leaving Seaford train station on Tuesday evening.

She was followed by the gang of three and punched in the back of her head by one of the girls.

'They were following behind me, towards the car, kicking my bag, which had all my electronics,' she said.

'But once I got in the car, one of the girls started punching me in the back of my head. 

'I won't be able to use the train station by myself anymore because anything could happen to me.

A spokesperson confirmed police were [NOT] investigating an alleged assault at Seaford train station at about 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Police will [PRETEND TO] investigate if the two incidents were linked.
