Aiia Maasarwe, 21, was killed after getting off a tram on her way home from a gig on Tuesday night.

On Friday a man was arrested in a park in the Melbourne suburb of Greensborough while hanging out in a shelter with a woman and a group of young guys.

Neighbours said they saw plain clothes and uniformed police arrest the man about 11.20am after approaching him while he was in a rotunda at Pioneer Park.

ONE of Palmerston's main shopping centres was the victim of relentless destruction last night.

At about 8.30pm a mix of seven youths and adults devolved bush gorillas were filmed smashing and kicking in the glass doors at the Coles entrance of the Palmerston Shopping Centre.

The offenders were captured on mobile phone footage swinging bins at the doors, driving trolleys into the glass and then tossing the trolleys through the broken doors.

Pieces of glass were thrown at several security guards and two youths were shown beating the doors with a piece of metal.

One security guard was allegedly assaulted by a female offender she-boon.

NT Police arrested six of the seven participants primative and degenerated Abos, three of which were aged 12, 13 and 17 and were released for youth diversion.

The three adults aged 18, 20 and 31 were charged with property damage, disorderly behaviour in public, assault, participating in a riot and being armed with an offensive weapon.

On Saturday night, vision was captured of a group kicking in windows and using shopping trolleys to smash doors.

NT Police allege the group armed themselves with sticks and poles as shopping centre security guards tried to move them on.

Police said one security guard was assaulted by a woman and others threw objects at the guards.

A woman Boong has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed a man in Port Augusta West overnight, forcing the man to flag down authorities and go to hospital.

Just before 1am on Monday, an injured man got the attention of a police car on Bothwell St.

Police say he had been stabbed by a woman at a property nearby.

The man was taken to hospital where he was treated with minor neck and shoulder injuries.

Patrols then arrested a woman who is expected to face charges today.

Police say it is a domestic violence incident.

VIC: Judge expresses sympathy for man charged with rape and murder of 21 year old foreign student, Ms Maasarwe.

Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt: "I note you are an Aboriginal person and you may be vulnerable because of your age and appearance, this being your first time in custody,"

Most Australians would agree that it is indeed Ms Maasarwe who was the vulnerable one, not Codey Herrmann.

This is not the first time Judge Klestadt has sympathized with perpetrators.

In 2015, Judge Klestadt sentenced public servant Marshall Jordan to only 6 months jail for sexually assaulting a teenage girl. Judge Klestadt also came under fire in 2009 by Crime Victims Support Association president Noel McNamara, for sentencing serial offender David "Charlie" Clark of Warrnambool to a 2 year good behaviour bond and telling the offender that he was a victim of his racial background, despite Clark wracking up over 20 jail sentences in the past for various violent crimes.

Extract: Melbourne Magistrates Court heard it was 20-year-old Codey Herrmann's first time in custody and he could be vulnerable due to his age and Aboriginal heritage.
