A MAN was allegedly struck with the blunt side of an axe during an incident at Alice Springs.
The alleged offender, a 38-year-old man, and a 44-year-old man were involved in a disturbance at a residence in Little Sister Camp at around 2.15am this morning.
Police said a 36-year-old man intervened and the offender allegedly struck him on the head with the blunt side of a small axe.
He was taken to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.

A JEALOUS man bashed his partner, held her captive and refused to let her breastfeed their son as he interrogated her about sleeping with other men, the Darwin Magistrates Court has heard.
Mathuwan James Murrungun, 24, pleaded guilty to punching the woman in the face, beating her with a metal file and deprivation of liberty.
Magistrate Michael Carey told him: "She is your partner, not your property. You don't own her.
"If you can't live with that, you will have to live without her."
The court heard Murrungun and the victim were watching a DVD in their bedroom - with their one-year-old son asleep on the floor - when an argument erupted.
Prosecutor James Tierney said Murrungun challenged the victim's fidelity.    "Then he punched her once to the face ... walked to the other side of the room, (grabbed) a long metal file and struck her a number of times," he said.
The court heard the woman tried to crawl towards the door but her partner of four years told her: "If you don't stay here I will make your families cry for you."
She lay crying on the mattress and was threatened when she tried to leave again. The baby then woke up.
"The offender told the victim, 'it's your fault ... cry quieter'," Mr Tierney said.
"He refused to let her breastfeed and insisted she remain silent until (the baby) had cried himself to sleep."
He said the woman curled up in a corner of the room until Murrungun went to sleep. Then she fed the baby.
She was treated for her wounds at Numbulwar community health clinic.
Murrungun was arrested and refused bail.
Defence lawyer Sophie Parsons said her client had been exposed to drunkenness and domestic violence as a child.
"He has told me he needs more learning about life and how to control his anger," she said.
Murrungun was sentenced to six months in jail.
He will face the NT Supreme Court for breaching a suspended sentence that was imposed for assaulting the same woman.

A BASHING victim has died in hospital six days after he was viciously attacked outside a major Darwin shopping centre.
The 39-year-old man was allegedly punched and kicked by a gang of thugs - who stole a bottle of alcohol from his backpack - in the Casuarina Woolworths carpark on Monday last week.
Just minutes later, a "separate" group allegedly bashed the man again as he was walking out.
Police could not confirm if the incidents were linked.
Two young men - aged 16 and 18 - were initially arrested and charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and stealing.
Police have confirmed they will upgrade the charges and are consulting the Director of Public Prosecutions regarding the matter.     Serious Crime Detective Sergeant Karl Day said police would continue to hunt the remaining offenders and prepare a report for the Coroner.
The victim died at Royal Darwin Hospital on Sunday.

A GANG of young thieves allegedly set one stolen car on fire and rammed a second vehicle into a gate and a gutter during an expensive weekend crime spree.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy believed to be among "a number of offenders" who stole about $154,000 worth of booty when they broke into homes at Coconut Grove, Nakara and Wanguri on Saturday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said police had recovered $150,000 of the stolen property - a Subaru Impreza, a Holden Commodore, Holden Commodore Omega and a Holden HSV GTS Commodore.
"Two of the vehicles were extensively damaged," he said.
"The Subaru was rammed into a gate and kerb, and the Omega was set on fire.
"The youth was apprehended by uniformed officers after spending the morning actively avoiding police."    He said the culprits also stole cigarettes, computer accessories, a hip flask, cosmetics, beer, clothing, bottles of spirits, a purse, an ipod and a mobile phone.
The youth has been charged with:
Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x4)
Unlawful enter dwelling with intent (x3)
Stealing (x3)
Drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed (x2)
Damage to property.
He will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today.

He was a tourist from Adelaide on holiday in Darwin. They wont catch anyone else. Because the killers were Abos, the same will happen as always does: The first two will go to trial, one will blame the other, so that one gets off and the other gets a limited sentence and is out in no time at all. The story will disappear and the other four will be forgotten about. There will be no talk about it being a Hate Crime. And the crime will soon be forgotten by all except the poor bastard's family ... who would probably denounce us as racist scum (if they ever read this) for helping to expose the truth about their beloved son and father's brutal racist murder by Abos.

POLICE will allege that a 39-year-old intoxicated man struck a 42-year-old woman repeatedly with a metal bar in Alice Springs.
The man has been charged over the alleged incident at a residence in Little Sister Camp on Monday.
"The woman was taken to Alice Springs Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries. The offender was arrested by police a short time later," said Detective Superintendent Brent Warren.
The man, who has been charged with aggravated assault and armed with an offensive weapon at night, has been remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 12 December.
