A MAN has been arrested whilst allegedly still carrying out a sexual assault after his victim's cries for help were heard by neighbours, who called police.
 
Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said police were able to arrest 46-year-old man in a park in Driver while he was still carrying out the assault after neighbours heard cries for help from his 41-year-old female victim.
It is believed the attacker was known to the victim.
"They were both drinking at the same location before the attack, so it would appear they're known to each other somehow," he said.



Guess who in the NT has a large domestic violence rate? Guess who also does nothing but sit around drinking togeather?

THE nephew of actor Ernie Dingo has been charged with attempted murder after a crash involving a 23-year-old female.
Keegan Dingo, 26, appeared in Darwin Magistrates Court yesterday after allegedly slamming his vehicle into a light pole outside Darwin showgrounds at Winnellie on Sunday.

NT POLICE have charged and summonsed three males and three females aged between 12 and 14 for a combined 83 offences.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said police from Strike Force Trident were investigating several property related offences in the Darwin and Casuarina area that happened between August 12 and 14. 
"We identified several offenders by reviewing CCTV footage, information from general duties members, information from the general public and some old fashioned police investigative work.
"As a result we have charged six juveniles with a total of 83 offences."
Det Snr Sgt Stringer said the charges include four counts of stealing, four counts of aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicles and two counts of aggravated unlawful entry of dwellings. 



  So who else in Darwin could clock up so many theft charges? YOU GUESSED IT!

PROPERTY crime in the Territory is down but violent offences are up with 7311 people assaulted in the past year, the latest statistics from the Department of Justice reveal.
Domestic violence assaults account for 59 per cent of all offences with 1454 incidents reported in the past 12 months.
That is 57 per cent more incidents of domestic violence than five years ago.
In Darwin, assaults are up 3 per cent with 1630 people assaulted in the past year, while sexual offences were up 20 per cent with 115 offences recorded.
Alice Springs experienced a 5 per cent drop in sexual assaults with 72 offences in the past year, but there was a 4 per cent increase in violence with 1785 incidents reported by police.
Property crime across the Territory fell by 8 per cent in the past year with 19,591 offences recorded.    Across the Territory there were 1678 house break-ins - an 11 per cent drop - but there was only a 1 per cent decrease in business break-ins with 1888 offences.
Overall crime dropped by 5 per cent across the NT.

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly attacking a group of backpackers who set up camp near him.
Watch Commander Garry Smith said police were called to Caltex, Berrimah about 11pm after the 33-year-old man allegedly approached a group of nearby campers.
The man allegedly hit a woman over the head with a chair, before threatening them with a samurai sword and threatening to kill them.
The woman escaped with a small bump to the head.
The man - who police say was intoxicated - spent the night in the lock-up, and will be charged with weapons offences, various assault charges and threats to kill.



I can just imagine it is a coon! Being Berrimah a Darwin suburb, what other back packer or camper would get drunk and threaten people for no reason with a samurai sword?
I can just imagine the conversation.

DETECTIVES from Strike Force Trident arrested five males overnight, wanted in relation to a number of offences committed in Darwin, Palmerston and Casuarina.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said the males, aged 13-37, were allegedly involved in offences committed from June through to August this year.
"On 9 June a 37-year-old man allegedly unlawfully entered a car dealership in Stuart Park and attempted to steal a vehicle. The man was disturbed by responding security guards and fled the scene," Det Snr Sgt Stringer said.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested yesterday for his alleged involvement in the theft of an iPad, two sets of car keys and a Toyota Corolla on 6 July from a home in Durack.
Det Snr Sgt Stringer said a 16-year-old is believed to have broken into a vehicle parked in Palmerston on August 17 and stolen an iPhone.
He said police also arrested a 14-year-old male and a 16-year old male for their alleged involvement in the theft of approximately $1,000 from a store in Casuarina on August 25. Both have been remanded in custody.
