A TEENAGER who allegedly stole a yellow 4WD and broke into houses has been arrested in a Territory town.
Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said the 15-year-old boy was tracked down after a string of property crimes were reported in Alice Springs early this morning.
She said police were unsure if he was the only offender.
"There may be cases where people are unaware offenders have tried to break into their homes," Senior Sergeant Tennosaar said.
"They may have tampered with vehicles, and they may discover that this morning."
The boy was suspected to have been involved in unlawful entries at houses on Raggett St and Cycad Pl, in the town's east, between 1am and 3am.

POLICE are hunting a mugger who allegedly knocked a man to the ground and stole his money in a Palmerston alleyway.
Watch Commander Debbie Gabolinscy said the 45-year-old victim had just left the Gray Shops and was walking down a lane, near Essington Ave, when he was pushed from behind yesterday.
"He felt a sharp pain in his back," she said.
The alleged offender then stole a sum of cash from the man's pocket.
Senior Sergeant Gabolinscy said the mugger was described as a dark-skinned man wearing a white shirt.

HUNDREDS of Adelaide residents deemed to be living in "severe domestic squalor" will be forced to pay for clean-ups in a radical move to tackle the growing problem.                                       
Taskforces in each local government area will be charged with rating at-risk homes.
The new SA Health policy will be introduced after feedback is received from the public and councils, which will take the lead in the taskforces.
Called "A Foot in the Door", the new approach will rate homes according to a "Severe Domestic Squalor Assessment Scale" that measures vermin, waste, unsafe food, animal cruelty, odour, fire risk, operating water and electricity and whether investigators can get to the front door.
A score over 12 means the property earns a "severe squalor" tag.
Unlike the current system, which depends on council inspectors, the taskforces will include a range of other experts such as mental health workers and doctors, backed by court orders and police if necessary.
A subsequent motion from the Local Government Association annual general meeting prompted SA Health to act.
SA Health's acting director of public health, Dr Chris Lease, said numerous people had been consulted in developing the new guidelines.
"Where serious risks are identified - like animal hoarding, fire hazards, public health risk factors - it is important cases are referred to the relevant regulatory agency so that they can be appropriately assessed by qualified persons," he said.

A MOTHER and son have been charged with trying to smuggle cannabis - disguised as kids' sweets - into a remote Territory community.
Police uncovered more than 60g of weed hidden in a mixed lolly bag during a search of an aircraft at Darwin Airport last month.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Stephen Pfitzner said: "The mother and son team went to great lengths to disguise the true contents of the package.
"It was very good police work to find the alleged offenders so soon."
Cops would not reveal the name of the Aboriginal community where the plane was heading as the attempted smuggling remains under investigation.
The NT news understands it was on the north coast.    A/Sen-Sgt Pfitzner warned that Operation Vida would continue to target drug traffickers who exploited the demand for cannabis out bush.
The 35-year-old woman and her 18 year-old son have been charged with supply cannabis and possess a trafficable amount of cannabis.
They will face court in Darwin next month.

A TEENAGER has allegedly tried to rape a sleeping woman during an home invasion in a Territory town, police say.
The 15-year-old boy reportedly crept into the room where the victim was asleep after he broke into a house in Alice Springs about 2.50am yesterday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said the 22-year-old woman awoke to find the youth attempting to have sex with her.
"He fled and was arrested a short time later," Sen-Sgt Malley said.
The boy has been charged with attempt sexual intercourse without consent, indecent assault, aggravated enter dwelling with intent and property damage.

FORMER AFL footballer Liam Jurrah has been sentenced to six months jail after pleading guilty to assaulting a woman in a Territory town.
Jurrah, 24 and his co-accused Mathius Walker, 32, were sentenced for the aggravated assault - outside a 24-hour store - in Alice Springs this afternoon.
Magistrate David Bamber backdated Jurrah's prison term to allow for time already spent on remand and ruled it would be suspended after three months.
He will be released on a 12 month good behaviour promise late next month.
Mr Bamber said Jurrah had "good prospects" of not re-offending.
