YOUNG criminals COONS are stealing cars with the aim of deliberately provoking police into high-speed pursuits, the head of a police specialist property crime unit says. 
 
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said car chases were an almost daily occurrence for members of Strikeforce Trident.

Car keys have become the primary target of juvenile house breakers.

"They're also after small portable items. They love i-Phones, iPads and they'll steal your cash, your jewellery ... that sort of thing," Sen-Sgt Stringer said.

Juveniles stole cars to "facilitate" other offences, including stealing other cars so they could have drag races among themselves.



"They love having races in their stolen cars. They go looking for police vehicles and do burnouts in front of them to bait you into a pursuit. You know, Grand Theft Auto," Sen-Sgt Stringer said, in reference to the highly successful action-adventure video game series.

"They've been playing too much PlayStation.

"We get them waving out the window to you and everything as they're doing burnouts past you. Sometimes it's a friendly wave. Sometimes it's a one-fingered salute."

He said the behaviour reflected contempt for the youth justice system.

But Sen-Sgt Stringer stressed these criminals represented just a small percentage of young people.(BUT A LARGE POPULATION OF COON YOUTHS)

"We're continually dealing with these kids on a weekly basis. The same ones," he said.

Sen-Sgt Stringer said police enjoyed a "fairly good rapport" with many of the young criminals.



"And they tell us a lot of good stuff," he said.
(probably Why the cops do nothing to prosecute these bastards properly!)

"I remember when I was a young guy getting into the job, to get into a pursuit with a stolen car was pretty rare; you'd have to work hard to find one.

"Nowadays my guys are going out there and doing it nearly every day.

"These kids doing it are off their heads on ice and other drugs and driving around in stolen vehicles at high speed and in a dangerous manner."

Last year members of Strikeforce Trident recovered more than $2.3 million worth of stolen property, including stolen vehicles. The specialist property crime unit also made 830 apprehensions and laid more than 4170 charges.

A MAN is currently undergoing surgery in Alice Springs Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed opposite the Town Council lawns. 
 
A woman is currently in police custody in relation to the attack.

Police were called to the incident at 9.19am, where the woman was arrested.

They have since cordoned off the area as a crime scene.

Alice Springs Watch Commander Mike Williams said police were now waiting to determine the extent of injuries to the man before deciding what charges could be laid.

"NO car, no cask wine" – it's the new policy at one of the Territory's busiest bottle shops. 
 
The BWS at the Parap ­Tavern, which Woolworths' pub business Australian ­Leisure and Hospitality Group took over in October, has moved to restrict the flow of cheap and easy grog in ­Darwin.

A sign at the check-out states "no car no service" on goon sales in a bid to reduce alcohol-related harm.



ALH spokesman David Curry said: "It's a local decision based on the responsible service of alcohol.

"An issue was identified in the area. The rule will apply to everyone – you must be in a motorised vehicle to buy cask wine."(because coons don't drive cars unless they stole one.. gee! watch the car theft rate ascend!)

Mr Curry said the Parap BWS was the only drive-through establishing the policy that will begin on January 19.

"We'll see how it goes," he said.

NT Police Association acting boss Col Goodsell said he was impressed a retailer was "taking the initiative".



"We have been advocating for a measure like this for some time – it reinforces our stance on the need for change at the point of sale," he said.

"Limiting the supply of alcohol in the Territory is a must-do. There is no disputing the troublesome effect of alcohol-related BOONG  crime."

Mr Goodsell said he hoped other bottle shops would follow suit.

Darwin's Dowling family – which owned the pub since 1947 – signed over the Parap Tavern lease to ALH in a deal touted to be worth $9 million.

JUST before midnight on Sunday night, residents in a quiet Malak street heard a female voice wailing. 
 
When police arrived at Rutt Court, Malak, a man lay dead. He was found with a single wound to his body, possibly a stab wound.

A 25-year-old woman, who was believed to be in a domestic relationship with the victim, is in custody. She was expected to be charged as early as last night.

Neighbours said residents of the home had become rowdy about 8pm on Sunday and started "escalating and escalating".

Yesterday, forensic detectives waded through metre-high grass around the block. A crumpled umbrella lay in the backyard, behind crime scene tape on the gate.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Morgan said a knife had been seized from the home but that police would await the results of an autopsy before confirming the cause of death.

He said emergency services received a call from the home requesting police and St Johns. They arrived about 1.30am. He said St John provided their first response treatment on arrival, but it was too late.

Neighbour Rob Norman said he didn't see what happened, but said the residents of the home had started playing music and arguing loudly about 8pm.

"I woke up between 11 and 12 and I heard wailing," he said.

He said it sounded like a female voice.

"(But) I was very surprised to find someone was deceased."

Mr Norman said he woke again about 4.30am to go to work and found his street — which has only five houses on it — filled with police.

"There was one man sitting on the mattress out the front of the house and another across the street, separated by police obviously."

Mr Norman said he did not know his neighbours directly but thought it was the same four people living there since he moved in four years earlier. He said up to 20 people could be in the house at any one time.

When they played their loud music, the four regular residents tended to stay inside, Mr Norman said. Or they were outside under a big tree.

"They come and they go," he said.

"But it didn't just start yesterday evening, there was yelling and screaming the night before.

"The previous night all I heard was the male predominately making all the noise and last night it was the female.

"It was quite a raucous, there was a fair bit of noise. The noise was getting really bad and it had been going on for the weekend."

He said young kids also lived in the house.

TEENAGE wannabe "gangsters" DIRTY ABBOS! have been posting to social media showing themselves covered in wads of cash, brandishing weapons, smoking drugs and boasting about apparently stolen items in their possession. 

In one photograph, a teen is posing at the Palmerston Bus Interchange with a machete.

The same teen poses in other photographs with a handgun, axes, bongs and what appears to be a bag of drugs.

Another boy is photographed with packs of cigarettes he supposedly "blitzed" and in another he is covered with $50 bills while sitting beside a carton of Pauls Iced Coffee.

The baby-faced "gangsters", who the NT News has chosen not to name, make references to notorious US-based gang the Bloods.

Despite living about as far from Los Angeles as possible, they also pose with "westside" hand gestures.

The brazen posts are not short of "likes" from friends and comments such as "sick pic bruzz".

However, one has warned: "Evidence bro remove the tag n write something else cus. I don't want yas getting caught."

    Some of the public photos go back at least two years and appear to be evidence of long criminal histories.

NT Police were asked to comment on the photos but did not respond to questions.

It remains unknown if police have ever taken action against the teens.

However, the photos have come back to bite one teen, who has been receiving violent threats on a widely used Darwin-based Facebook page.

Users have re-posted some of the images on that page and accused the teen of stealing, which he has denied on the page.

The original post from Monday has more than 1000 comments, most of them mocking the teen or making threats of harm.

One angry user told the teen he would visit his house, while another user provided the address of the home and the location of the teen's bedroom within it.

NT Police would not confirm if it would offer the teen protection in light of the social media threats.

Police have previously spoken of young criminals taunting officers into car chases and behaving as though Darwin and Palmerston were locations in the violent video game series Grand Theft Auto.

Last year, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer told the NT News: "You catch them, they get bail and then they're back out on the streets reoffending."

Official police crime statistics, released monthly, do not break down offenders by age, but indicate that property crime is up 23 per cent in Palmerston and 8.9 per cent in Darwin for the year ending November 30.

A NINE-year-old boy and a gang of tween burglars (abbo sporns )have been caught allegedly stealing from a Palmerston apartment building, as police warn of a January crime spree. 
 
Superintendent Daniel Shean said police made 36 arrests for property crime between January 1 and Monday, while seven stolen cars were recovered from Darwin and Palmerston in just 24 hours to 3pm yesterday.

"Unfortunately there is an element of youth within our community that have little regard for other people's personal property or the law," Supt Shean said.

:angelThe two oldest of the Palmerston trio are only 11 and 12 and will face youth court; the nine-year-old has been let off.

Police say they walked into the CBD building about 7.40pm on Monday and stole cash and caused $50 damage. They were found in Moulden on Tuesday.

Yesterday, the NT News revealed the baby-faced gangsters taking to Facebook to show off their weapons, loot and drugs.

Darwin man Joshua Butler is using social justice website change.org to petition the Territory Government to take tougher action on repeat ­offenders. The petition has gained more than 300 supporters since posting on Monday.

"The residents of the Northern Territory have the right to feel safe within their homes and in the general community," Mr Butler writes.

"Unfortunately our current catch-and-release process isn't working and we the community are calling on our elected members to take charge and create change. We want to see harsher penalties enforced on criminals who are involved in the theft of property/vehicles, especially repeat offenders."

But Supt Shean said most of the property crime could have been avoided if residents had taken proper precautions.

"For Palmerston alone, some 50 per cent of residential premises unlawfully entered were as a result of the house being left unlocked, while 23 per cent of the unlawful entries were as a result of the offender poking a hole through the flyscreen door and unlocking it."
