A YOUNG woman was allegedly beaten and stripped naked by a "girl gang" as police battled an onslaught of drunks in a Territory town.

At least one "very drunk" man passed out on the concrete outside the Tennant Creek Hotel - which locked its doors early - as hundreds of people took to the main street and scattered throughout the town on Friday night.

One local, who asked to remain anonymous, said cars could barely drive around for fear of running someone over.

"It was bedlam," she said, "There has been a massive influx of people from communities because royalties have been paid out and everyone has money."

"There has been a huge amount of drunks and violence, and police have had to work double shifts."

Police initially thought a woman had been raped when they attended an incident near the town pool about 8.30pm.      But it turned out she was allegedly bashed and stripped of her clothes by up to three other young women.

St John paramedics took the victim to hospital but she was not badly hurt.

The NT News understands an "unofficial" gang of girls has been causing trouble in the town, about 800km south of Darwin.

The source said Tennant Creek was last week stormed by hundreds of people from outlying communities when the Central and Northern land councils held meetings.

Somebody bloody just make a law that prevents these Abbos from breeding, for cryin' out loud!

FORMER AFL star Liam Jurrah has pleaded guilty to two drink driving charges in Adelaide.
Jurrah is in custody in Alice Springs over allegations he was involved in the assault of three women.
The ex-Melbourne Demons footballer pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol via telephone link at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court, in South Australia, today.
He also admitted breaching conditions of a provisional licence.
Another charge - driving with excess blood alcohol - was dropped by prosecutors.
Jurrah was charged with returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.26 while driving on P-plates - which have a zero alcohol condition - on January 14.
After the guilty plea, Magistrate Elizabeth Sheppard adjourned proceedings until May 7 where it is expected Jurrah will be sentenced

THE Federal Government should stop trying to "bully" the Territory into implementing stricter alcohol reforms, Chief Minister Adam Giles has said.
Mr Giles made the comments after Prime Minister Julia Gillard made a loose threat to cut federal funding if Labor's Banned Drinker Register was not reinstated.
Her government had a "very, very strong say" in the distribution and use of federal funds, she said on Friday.
"We get to have our voice heard," she said.
But Mr Giles slammed the comments, saying the BDR did not work: "The Banned Drinker Register provided no pathway for problem drinkers to overcome their addictions and problem drinkers were forced to find their alcohol elsewhere.
"The Prime Minister should stop trying to bully the Territory and must commit to the retention of existing funding arrangements."     Mr Giles said the NT already had the strongest alcohol supply restrictions in Australia.
For example, in Katherine, heavy beer cannot be purchased before midday and in Tennant Creek you cannot buy takeaway port.
In Nhulunbuy, takeaway alcohol is illegal without a permit and in Alice Springs there are limits on fortified wine.
Mr Giles said that the Federal Government was too focused on the supply of alcohol.
"The Prime Minister seems to think that just because someone has a ban on them, they will stop drinking, but there was nothing to stop third-party sales of grog and drunks still accessing alcohol through friends," he said.
Ms Gillard said she would continue to pressure the NT Government to go back to the Banned Drinker Register because it stopped alcohol-related harm of families and communities.
