Christine Sandford, 40, was minutes from home in Adelaide's Windsor Gardens when Bhupinder Singh's Ford Mustang T-boned her vehicle in March 2023. She died at the scene.

She had been on the way home from a nearby service station to buy cooking oil when her life was cut short.

Since the crash, Singh had continually denied causing Ms Sandford's death and initially pleaded not guilty.

Bhupinder Singh, 24, faced South Australian District Court on Wednesday charged with one count of aggravated causing death by dangerous driving. Currently free on bail, he was warned by the judge on Wednesday that he will likely be taken into custody following case submissions next week.

The court heard that Singh had been driving at high speed ranging between 150 to 161km/h moments before the crash.

The prosecution told the court that it was 'clearly the Crown's case' that Singh made no attempt to help Ms Sandford at the scene.

Singh's lawyer said his client may not have rendered Ms Sandford's assistance as he had lost his turban in the crash. 'As a Sikh, it's almost like being naked in public,' his lawyer explained.

Singh will reappear face South Australian District Court next week for further submissions before sentencing.  [sic]

Excerpt: Police in Melbourne are investigating after a man was stabbed during a fight involving up to 10 Middle Eastern men at thecity's inaugural Ramadan Night Market last month.

Victoria Police said a 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds at about 11.30pm on April 2 after an altercation on Thomas Street, Dandenong.

The offender fled the scene afterwards.

The market attracted 30,000 people per night over Ramadan.

Excerpt: A [Middle Eastern] man has been dramatically arrested by anti-terrorism cops following an alleged arson attack on a Sydney synagogue.

Up to 10 red swastikas were sprayed on the front walls of the Newtown Synagogue, on Georgina Street, in Sydney's inner-west, in the early hours of January 11.

Police earlier released CCTV of two hooded men seen outside the synagogue around 4.25am who they allege tried to set the synagogue on fire.

'The vile graffiti we've seen overnight, including at the Newtown Synagogue, is abhorrent and needs to stop immediately,' Mr Albanese wrote.

The man was charged with property damage offences, possessing suspected stolen goods, and cultivating an illegal plant.

He was refused bail and will appear in court on Wednesday.

The 33-year-old was the ninth person arrested in relation to the synagogue attack earlier this month.

'We made it illegal to use Nazi and other hate symbols because there's no place in Australia for antisemitism.'

A Melbourne man who admitted to sexually assaulting 18 women at a well-known Prahran nightclub has been handed a community correction sentence rather than jail time. On Monday in the County Court, 35-year-old David Maria Anthony Rayan received a two-year community corrections order after pleading guilty to 17 counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted sexual assault

Rayan's offences occurred over three nights in 2023 at Revolver Upstairs, where CCTV footage showed him deliberately touching and groping guests without their consent. Victims described suddenly feeling his hand under their clothing, unwanted kisses on their shoulders and heads, and his body pressing into theirs as they tried to enjoy the venue.
