The frightening moment a {African} man armed with a hammer allegedly attempted to steal a Jeep in broad daylight was captured on camera

Footage showed the man swinging the hammer at the two drivers before getting inside one of the vehicles.

Shortly after however, he steps out of the Jeep unable to start it.

The man then appears to walk away casually before returning to smash the windows of one of the cars.

Gee! Wonder what this "man" could've looked like?!

The alleged offender has been described as being of African appearance and is 175cm tall, with a slim build.

The man also has a mark on his left cheek and has prominent teeth.

He was last seen wearing a black and white coloured varsity jacket, a brown cap, a black shirt, and dark-coloured skinny jeans.

Detectives have released CCTV footage and have compiled a sketch of the man, who they believe will be able to assist with their inquiries.

Excerpt: A Melbourne couple were held at knifepoint as four thugs broke into their home and allegedly stole $160,000 worth of jewellery and watches in what might be a case of mistaken identity.

The four men wearing all black clothes entered the property on Beckett Rd in Donvale in the city's east on June 23 last year while the occupants, a 65-year-old woman and 67-year-old man, were inside.

The pair were assaulted, held at knifepoint and one had their hands tied behind their back while the other had their face covered as the group ransacked the property for more than an hour.

Police are asking for the public's help to locate two men they believe can assist with their inquiries.

One male is described as of Pacific Islander appearance, aged in his 20s, with a solid build and facial hair.

The other is also of Pacific Islander appearance, in his 20s, with a solid build but has a neck tattoo.

A 'radicalised' 16-year-old Muslim boy was shot dead by officers after stabbing a man in the back in a West Australian shopping centre car park.

Excerpt: More than 30 police vehicles rushed to Bunnings car park on High Street in Willetton, south Perth, about 10pm on Saturday following reports of a stabbing.

There officers found a 16-year-old brandishing a large kitchen knife and a man with serious back injuries.

The teenager was fatally shot by police after he 'rushed the attending officers'.

'There are indications [the teenager] had been radicalised online,' Western Australia Premier Roger Cook told reporters in a press conference on Sunday morning.

The injured man, aged in his 30s and a stranger to the teenager, was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said the teenager had been taking part in a rehabilitation program for people who had been radicalised online since he was 14 years old.

He was known to police for 'mental health issues and radicalisation issues'.

Commissioner Blanch would not declare the stabbing a terrorist attack.

WA Police Minister Paul Papalia explained the rehabilitation group the teenager was part of was based on a program in the Netherlands that de-radicalises Neo-Nazis.

Rowville, Melbourne: Mother and baby abducted from Stud Park Shopping Centre by ASIAN knifeman

Excerpt: The woman had just parked at the Stud Park Shopping Centre supermarket in Rowville, in Melbourne's south-east, at about 6pm last Friday when she was suddenly confronted by the man.

The offender, described as being Asian in appearance and between 20 and 35-years-old, threatened the mother with a knife and forced her back inside her Suzuki S Cross.

He got into the back seat beside her baby and then forced her to drive to electrical stores in Cranbourne and Frankston.

The knifeman then forced the mother to buy four Apple MacBooks while he remained in the back seat with the child.

After two terrifying hours, the knifeman got out of the car and fled along the Dandenong Creek path, carrying the four laptops.

A refugee with a history of violence is facing deportation from Australia after losing an appeal over a brutal assault that left a man with a severed earlobe

Jok Gar, 21, was sentenced last December to two years in prison with a non-parole period of 16 months for the unprovoked attack, in which he and another man savagely beat a man in Melbourne and stole his phone.

A knife was used in the September 6, 2022 attack, with the victim's face slashed and his earlobe partially severed.

Gar and his co-accused Tyler De Silva left the man unconscious and bleeding, with police discovering them in the toilets of Southern Cross train station at 4.30am.

De Silva was handed a lighter sentence of six months due to having an intellectual disability - he has an IQ of 48 - childhood epilepsy and 'severe neglect issues' in his upbringing, the Geelong Advertiser reported ~ Standard Abo!

Gar's appeal cited the 'manifest' differences in the two sentences, but Supreme Court justices Karin Emerton and David Beach said Gar's initial sentence had been 'lenient'.

The judges said the attack was 'both dangerous and callous', and that 'it was not the applicant's only act of random violence against a stranger on the streets of Melbourne.

They also said there was 'no reason to believe that (Gar's) prospects of rehabilitation are other than very poor'.

A decision on the case had been reserved following a hearing on April 16, but in the meantime Gar was told his refugee visa, which he received in 2009, had been cancelled.

His lawyers said the visa cancellation and the risk of deportation after he has served his time behind bars, were grounds for another appeal.

But the judges disagreed, saying Gar still can apply for the visa cancellation to be reversed.

'We see no good reason to reduce (Gar's sentence) on the ground that the visa cancellation will make the applicant's imprisonment more burdensome,' justices Emerton and Beach wrote.

The judges also cited Gar's history of violent crime

In January 2023, he pleaded guilty to the aggravated assault of a woman in Geelong West, and four months later in May he was convicted of attacking a stranger 'without provocation' in Melbourne's CBD in the early hours of New Year's Day, 2022

That assault caused fractures to the victim's skull and facial bones.

Gar went into prison as a medium security prisoner but has been reclassified as maximum security due to his behaviour in jail, which has involved assaults, fights, verbally abuse and spitting on guards.

He also 'stomped on another prisoner' and poured milk and urine under another inmate's cell door.
