Extract: VIDEO showing the wedding of a 34-year-old man and an underage (pre-pubescent) girl has been screened in a Melbourne court.

The mobile phone footage that allegedly shows a prominent Muslim marriage cleric marrying off the girl in a backstreet Melbourne mosque in front of her mother was seized by police.

In the footage, which was broadcast by Channel 7 news on Monday night, the Muslim cleric Ibrahim Omerdic - imam of the Bosnian Islamic Society and Noble Park Mosque - can be heard telling the girl it was her duty to obey her husband. The ceremony allegedly took place in a Melbourne mosque last year.

"She's very young," he can be heard telling the child's mother and her betrothed.

"As a wife, you have a duty to obey your husband.

Mud carjacker: No deportation, no conviction, just a small fine ...

Extract: Michael Tallal, 29, was driving his Mercedes along Toorak Road when another car bumped his luxury vehicle from behind on April 24 last year.

As he got out to inspect the damage, a gang of men launched an attack on him with a baseball bat before they stole his car.

"I was terrified... I think the only thought that was in my mind 'I don't wanna die'," Mr Tallal recounted to 9NEWS.

Police went public with CCTV of a man filling up the victim's Mercedes in Patterson Lakes about 13 hours after the carjacking.

A court heard on Monday that Xavier Pauli, 21, had identified himself in the footage and handed himself into police.

Despite the CCTV, the court heard police could never prove Mr Pauli was involved in the carjacking itself, and charged him with one count of car theft.

The Magistrate added that given Mr Pauli's age, a charitable donation without conviction was fair.

Manhunt after five-year-old girl indecently assaulted in Glebe

A five-year-old girl has been indecently assaulted in Sydney, with police searching for her male attacker.

He approached her on Wentworth Park Road in Glebe about 8.20am yesterday, police believe.

The man ran off when the girl began screaming, which alerted her mother.

Police did not find the man in an initial sweep of the area and have appealed for information from the public.

The man is described as being of Indian sub-continental appearance and about 165 to 170cm tall with a slim build and black hair.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing a white t-shirt with a black motif on the chest and grey tracksuit pants.

Extract: A TODDLER had a lucky escape when a man attempted to abduct him in broad daylight in the middle of a crowded shopping centre.

Police are trying to identify the would-be abductor and are combing through hours of CCTV footage.

The kidnapper was foiled when the quick-thinking mother screamed and ran after the man as he tried to abduct her 15-month old son in Sydney's south west ... who handed the boy to her and then left the area in the direction of Elizabeth Drive.

The toddler was in the play area at Macquarie Street Mall in Liverpool at about 2.30pm yesterday, with his mother standing a short distance away watching.

"It is very concerning that someone has got the gall to actually do this particular act. We are taking it very seriously," Det Insp Johnstone said.

"We have obtained CCTV footage of the area and at the present time one of our officers is trawling through approximately ten hours of footage."

The man is described as Middle Eastern appearance, about 45-years-old, medium build, clean shaven, with black hair combed back and wearing a black woollen long sleeved jacket.
