Gang of men attempt horrific early morning carjacking in Laverton North

A DRIVER was surrounded by a gang of men before one jumped on the bonnet of his ute in an attempted carjacking this morning.

The victim was sitting in his red Ford utility in a car park in Laverton North when about five men of African appearance approached.

He locked his car doors tried to flee.

One of the men then jumped on the bonnet of the car.

Police want anyone who was in the area of Fitzgerald Rd about 5.30am, and who may have information, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Five teenagers* Black C*nts are facing serious charges over a crash involving an overloaded stolen car on Melbourne's West Gate Bridge.

A 14-year-old boy, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year old boy, were among nine people crammed into the luxury station wagon that slammed into a pole on the bridge in the early hours of Friday.

They were charged with a number of offences including aggravated burglary, theft of a motor car and traffic offences.

A 16-year-old girl is also expected to be charged on summons with theft of a motor car.

Six teenagers were arrested at the scene, including a teenage girl who remains in hospital.

Police have alleged the car was stolen from a house in Truganina.

Gangs including Apex have targeted luxury cars in carjackings and break-ins in Melbourne in recent months.

Victoria Police have set up a special group to investigate a recent spate of aggravated burglaries and carjackings called Operation Cosmos.
