Extract: A SECOND reported possible abduction attempt in the eastern suburbs in three days has schools concerned for the welfare of their students.

A letter sent to students of the prestigious Seymour College has warned parents to ensure their daughters are not walking alone or talking to strangers.

At 3pm on Tuesday afternoon, a school-aged girl walking on Greenhill Rd, Burnside was approached by a man who grabbed her by the arm.

She managed to break free and ran to safety.

The Seymour College letter also makes reference to a similar incident at the Michael Perry Botanic Reserve in Stonyfell on Thursday, when a girl was reportedly pursued by a man matching the description of the man involved Tuesday's incident.

Neither girl was injured during the encounters.

The suspect is described as of Asian appearance, between 25-28 years old, 170-175cm tall with a skinny build and black hair.

He was wearing black framed glasses, a grey hooded jumper with white drawstrings and black pants with white stripes.

He reportedly spoke with a stutter.

Police are asking for assistance from the public in identifying the man involved in the first incident and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Aliyawar Yawari attacked three women between October 2013 and December 2014 and was charged with aggravated assault and rape over the first incident in a rural SA town.

Yawari, 58, punched the victim repeatedly in the face before having sex with her and was convicted of assault but acquitted of rape at trial.

District Court judge Paul Cuthbertson said the victim continued to suffer from the unprovoked attack.

"She says that she was once a free-and-easy person, accepting most people and cultures but is now somewhat less trusting of others, especially men," he said. Judge Cuthbertson said Yawari had committed two subsequent offences in which he entered the home of an elderly woman and smashed windows and kicked doors.

He received a suspended prison term for that offence but just two months later attacked a 64-year old woman in her home by indecently assaulting her then hitting her in the neck with a walking stick.

Judge Cuthbertson said it was clear that Yawari posed an ongoing risk to women.

Judge Cuthbertson: "This is now the third offence involving a lone elderly woman with sexual overtones to it. The offender is making himself a danger to the Australian community," he said.

BANNED cabbie who allegedly threatened to rape and kill government staff is now facing a string of grog and driving charges.

Abdul Qadir, who recently lost a three-year legal battle to keep his cab licence following the alleged death threats and years of customer complaints, appeared briefly in the Darwin Local Court.

Supported in court by his son, Qadir's charges include driving without due care, driving under the influence of alcohol, recklessly endangering serious harm, consuming liquor in an alcohol protected area, bringing liquor into an alcohol protected area and possessing cannabis in a public place.

He has also been charged with allegedly entering ­Aboriginal land without a permit and possessing a dangerous drug on a separate occasion, as well as a breach of bail.

The precise details of the ­allegations were not aired in open court on Thursday, but defence lawyer Miles Crawley said the charges would be the subject of a two-day local court hearing later this month.

Qadir recently had his bail conditions altered to allow him to travel to Pakistan, Mr Crawley said.

Qadir, a cabbie for nine years, suffered a major legal setback in June when Judge Greg Smith found the Transport Department was right to strip Qadir of his cab licence in 2014 on the grounds that he was not "fit and proper person" after the Supreme Court referred the matter back to him on appeal.

AN Adelaide woman allegedly bashed by a cab driver says she was left feeling "worthless and humiliated" by police.

Zara, who did not provide her surname, suffered black eyes, scratches to her neck and bruised ribs after she claims the driver "lost it" — punching, choking and spitting on her on September 28.

She said the driver, who had accused her of attempting to dodge paying the fare, leapt at her through the gap between the front seats after she asked him to stop at Fulham before 1.30pm to pick up her mail from a friend's house.

Zara said they had earlier disagreed over the best route to take and that she swore at him when he accused her of trying to run off without paying.

She claims the attack only stopped after she kicked him.

A neighbour came to her aid as she called triple-0 and the driver fled with her laptop and a carry bag.

She was comforted at a nearby house before a patrol arrived.

She rang police a second time and asked for a female officer to take her statement but when two male officers arrived at her home that night, Zara says she was shocked at their harsh attitude, which left her "humiliated".

"I'm absolutely appalled by how I was treated,'' she said. "They were so intimidating when they came and they were so dismissive of me, saying 'You've been drinking'.

"This wasn't just a punch in the face, this was a beating and (there was) no compassion. They made me feel absolutely worthless.''

An officer later took photos of Zara's injuries but police had not taken her statement until yesterday afternoon, almost a week after the attack.

Zara also reported the incident to Yellow Cabs, the Taxi Council SA and the Transport Department.

Appeal over 10-year jail term for teen jailed over Anzac Day terror plot

THE decade-long prison sentence for a Melbourne teen jailed for a chilling Anzac Day terror plot is "manifestly inadequate", according to the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

Hallam teen Sevdet Besim, 19, was sentenced to 10 years jail last month by the Supreme Court of Victoria after pleading guilty to one count of conspiring to do an act in preparation for or planning a terror act — a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The CDPP confirmed on Tuesday that they had lodged a Notice of Appeal in the matter — citing "public interest".

"Where the CDPP is of the view that the sentence imposed is manifestly inadequate and that such an appeal would be in the public interest, it will institute an appeal — as is in this case," a statement on the CDPP website says. The appeal against the sentence will be heard by the Victorian Court of Appeal at a date yet to be fixed.
Besim must serve at least seven-and-a-half years before he is eligible for parole.

When he was sentenced Police Minister Lisa Neville said the jail term was in line with police expectations.
