The tenant criticised the Housing Trust for telling her the property had been cleaned, saying she had to resort to "squatting" at her old home.

An Adelaide mum says drug contamination at the public housing property she recently moved into has forced her to resort to "squatting" at her old home because she does not want to put her son and herself in further danger, with the state government confirming a review into the case is now underway.

The tenant, Lauren, who asked for her last name not to be used, said she and her son had become ill almost immediately after moving into an SA Housing Trust property at West Beach.

She said she and her son, whom she said had complex needs, experienced symptoms including wheezing, dry-retching and burning in the throat after moving in on October 2.

She said that she later had to call an ambulance, and that ambulance officers had listed the case as one of "chemical exposure".

Lauren said the SA Housing Trust had "told me nothing about the house" but she later found out from neighbours it had previously been used to manufacture methamphetamine.

The bloody Govt would sort this pronto if the occupants were either:- Boongs, Reffos or Psychos because a subsidy would be involved, but what a rotten act to do! The last occupant went to media about it too apparently?

A mother says she and her disabled son fell sick after being put into a SA Housing Trust home which was a former meth lab.
Lauren, 41, and her 13-year-old son were relocated to the West Beach unit after enduring anti-social behaviour and within a day suffered burning throats and retching to a point she called an ambulance.

Opposition housing spokeswoman Michelle Lensink said documents from SA Ambulance Service recommended the family stay "out of (the) house", "wear (a) mask if collecting possessions" and "clean what is taken back out of the house
But SA Housing Trust allegedly told Lauren it "will not transfer you from the West Beach property as the house is considered safe for habitation.

The family has since been couch surfing.

Ms Lensink said that in January it was reported a former tenant of the same unit was unable to sleep in her bedroom after toxicology reports confirmed the home was contaminated with meth.

"South Australia's housing crisis has become so dire the government has resorted to relocating tenants with children into ex-drug dens," she said.

"Lauren and her son shouldn't have to live like this, and the stress of having to vacate the property and now couch surf is taking an incredible toll on them both.

"The government, at the very least, need to retest the property to ensure it is clean and safe to live here, because at the moment, their symptoms would suggest otherwise.

"With 16,000 people on the public housing waitlist and 1500 properties vacant, houses that have been trashed by bad tenants need to receive the necessary maintenance faster to get them back online and occupied by those who need them most."

However, Housing Minister Nick Champion said the property had been thoroughly cleaned and remediated twice, with testing done to ensure habitability.

"This week, the chief executive of the Housing Trust launched a review into this case and into the cleaning procedures," he said.

"The chief executive will also review Lauren's case, with a view to finding alternative accommodation.

"If the Liberal Party were interested in helping this family, they could've raised their concerns with me this week. Instead, they opted to wait several days to turn this case into a media stunt

  The thing is the Govt get subsidies from UNHCR to help Abos and Reffos and they seem to help them first.

Due to cost cutting , they closed mental health facilities and make crazies live amongst good people, seniors and disabled as they don't want "no go zones" full of "the people they don't know what to do with".

They let the ferrals have a "free  for all" and treat them like a protected species/ royalty at not just the tax payers expense with the trouble made but at the expense of good people!

Then to put a "cherry on the top " cúnts in Govt and housing authority lie through their teeth to occupants and make them believe they are delusional about serious problems they failed to deal with before allocating housing!

The UN should quit trying to make Reffos and Coons get priority and free rides if they want to be hooligans!

Should send the pricks back to the trees and wither like grapes on the vine! Why should workers have to pay to give these clowns a free ride only to have them continue with hooliganism?!
