A convicted killer has been found guilty of the stabbing murder of another man in a Sydney shop after a judge rejected a claim he acted in self-defence.

Almost 25 years after Douglas Johnson murdered a drinking companion in Newcastle, he has been found guilty of the stabbing murder of a man in a Sydney shoes and accessories shop.

The 47-year-old had pleaded not guilty in the NSW Supreme Court to murdering David Morrison, 41, on June 29, 2017 in the Campsie store.

CCTV footage in the shop captured the broad daylight incident, although it happened some distance from the camera and there was no sound.

Justice Stephen Campbell - who heard the trial without a jury - on Friday found Johnson guilty of Mr Morrison's murder, rejecting a claim of self-defence and finding he had intended to cause his victim really serious injury.

In a pre-trial decision on 'tendency evidence', the judge noted Johnson was 18 when he fatally stabbed 25-year-old Peter John Miller in the upper back as he made his way home from a Newcastle hospital in June 1993.

Mr Miller had received stitches there for three non-fatal knife wounds earlier inflicted by Johnson during a fight that broke out between the pair, who were known to each other, while they were drinking heavily with a group.

Johnson made admissions in a police interview that he'd intended to kill Mr Miller, apparently motivated by some personal animosity.

The judge found the footage showed Johnson looking 'like he was bent on confrontation' as he went into the shop where Mr Morrison was browsing.

Mr Morrison then took a couple of steps towards him in a non-threatening and a non-aggressive way so he could hear what Johnson was saying, which evidently 'was not pleasant'.

The judge was satisfied that Johnson then withdrew the knife from his pocket which led Mr Morrison to step backwards before Johnson quickly made a thrusting motion and stabbed him twice.

Australian Border Force raided a Robinvale property in Victoria's north and discovered 17 people crammed inside a house on February 13.

A 16-year-old boy was among five people who slept on mattresses in the garage of the property.

Up to 12 other people were living inside the house.

Twenty-three illegal workers were discovered altogether during the Robinvale raid.

The raid is just one of a series that the ABF has conducted this month as part of 'Operation Battenrun'.

A 52-year-old Chinese man was detained in Auburn in Sydney's west on February 14.

He was suspected of being part of a multi-million dollar illegal labour hire operation that transferred $23 million offshore since 2007.

Then in separate incidents, ABF raided a place at Bundoora, Melbourne's northeast on February 7 and a construction site at Greenslopes, Brisbane on February 6.

One of Australia's largest producers of fruit and vegetables was also slapped with an infringement notice on February 7.

The move came as a result of information gained from a raid on a Euston property in southern NSW on December 3, 2018.

A pack rapist who walked out of jail back into a life of crime will make a last ditch effort to prove why he shouldn't spend up to 20 more years behind bars.

Ghanem was jailed for 14 years over the depraved rape of two schoolgirls, 16 and 17, in a suburban park with his friends.

He walked free two years ago - only for police to catch him dealing more than a kilogram of the drug ice to a Brisbane businessman and put him back behind bars.   

Ghanem appeared in court on Wednesday and formally pleaded guilty to a commercial drug supply charge.

Custodial records tendered in court by Crown prosecutors at the sentencing revealed Ghanem was far from a model prisoner during his last lengthy stint behind bars for the sex crimes.

He was punished for failing to supply authorities with urine samples (in 2011 and 2014), for creating unspecified 'prohibited goods' (in 2013 and 2002), for stealing (in 2005), disobeying directions (2013) and on other occasions.

At their worst, the punishments included 42 day bans on contact visits, formal reprimands and further bans on participating in leisure activities, buy ups and amenities, the court documents said.   

Ghanem stood in the dock for District Court Judge James Bennett and said: 'Guilty, your honour.'

Ghanem was expected to be sentenced on Wednesday - but it was postponed following defence submissions relating to a psychiatrist's report.
