Extract: A MAN has been bashed and struck to the back of the head with a screwdriver during a frightening carjacking in Melbourne's north.

Police are hunting four men after they punched and kicked the 35-year-old victim to the ground before stealing his car and phone on May Road in Lalor about 12.30am yesterday.

Police are still searching for the stolen car, a white Citroen C5 SUV with registration SXZ 883.

Two of the offenders are described as Islander in appearance and aged in their 20s.

One was wearing a grey jacket and light grey pants, while the other was wearing a light-coloured hoodie.

Witnesses and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Extract: A blind Perth woman says she was discriminated against by a Swan Taxi driver who refused to let her guide dog in his cab.

Leann Hales, 36, has been left humiliated and wants taxi drivers to face harsher penalties, or even lose their job.

Ms Hales says it isn't the first time her guide dog has been refused a ride in a taxi and she is speaking out because she is sick of the discrimination.

Under the taxi driver code of conduct, taxi drivers can face a $300 fine if they refuse to transport a guide dog.

Muhammad Azam was treating the woman for mental health issues in mid-2011 when he first kissed her at his Springwood surgery ....

Extract: Ahmed Elomar, the brother of ­Islamic State jihadist Mohamed Elomar, was released from holding cells today despite being on parole and subject to ankle-bracelet monitoring for assaulting a police ­officer during the 2012 Hyde Park riots.

Elomar was arrested on Friday night for threatening to kill one spectator and "put holes" in another at his son's soccer match at Kooringa Reserve, Raby, about 11.20am on Saturday, May 13, this year.

Despite police opposing Elomar's release, he was granted bail by Acting Magistrate Robert Abood in Parramatta Bail Court.

He walked free from Amber Laurel Correctional Centre at Emu Plains after 4pm and climbed into a Jaguar waiting to pick him up.

The move has drawn the ire of Corrections Minister David Elliott, who is now urging the State Parole Authority to put Elomar back behind bars tomorrow.

Bilal Alameddine and another teenager, both 18, were arrested in a joint counter-terrorism operation involving NSW and federal police, at Auburn on Friday evening.

The two had been monitored by authorities since last September, however in the past two months came under increased surveillance.

Alameddine is related to one of the men facing weapons charges in connection to the murder of police worker Curtis Cheng.
