PAULINE Hanson has called for African gang members to be deported following the latest incident of violence in Melbourne at the weekend.

A gang of up to 40 youths of African appearance stormed the family-friendly festival Summersault, in Melbourne's west on Saturday night, kicking and punching some festival goers and stealing wallets, bags and phones.
A teenager was also hospitalised after being confronted by members of the gang outside the neighbouring Caroline Springs police station.

It is the latest in a string of gang crime allegedly committed by African youths in Melbourne and Ms Hanson said she had a simple solution to curb it.

"I've got the best solution to this. Round them up and get them out!" the One Nation leader posted, attracting more than 300 comments largely supporting her view.

The cessation of African migration has long been a key policy of Ms Hanson's, however a spokesman confirmed she did was not calling for the deportation of "law abiding immigrants of any ethnicity" but those who commit crimes.

Back in 2009, she described refugees as "incompatible with our way of life and culture".

"They get around in gangs and there is escalating crime that is happening," she said."If we want to do things for the Sudanese people, then let us send medical supplies, food, whatever they need over there — but let them stay in their own country."

Extract: The Imam Ali Islamic Centre on Lowson Street, Fawkner, was set on fire in May, November and December last year.

The most recent fire, on December 11 was deliberately lit by three men seen on CCTV carrying accelerant and car tyres.

Graffiti reading 'The Islamic State' in English and 'The State the Islam' in Arabic was also sprayed on the outside wall of the centre before the fire was lit.

The arsonists were all wearing dark clothing and hooded jumpers and the centre was completely destroyed.

The first two fires on May 14 and November 25 caused minor damage, police say.

Geelong, Victoria: Grandfather Bashed by African Gang

An 80-year-old man from Geelong has courageously fought back after he was allegedly set upon by a group of thugs.

John Drake, 80, received a knock on the door of his Whittington home late on Friday night to find a teenage girl asking for a cigarette lighter.

Three thugs then suddenly set upon Mr Drake, allegedly punching him at least four times and striking him with a hockey stick.

"The blood was just pouring out of me...coming from my nose and head...just pouring out," he told 9NEWS.

Despite struggling to stand, Mr Drake fought back during the alleged three-minute ordeal.

"I didn't go down...I made sure of that.

"I don't like people kicking me in the brains while I'm down."

The retired miner suffered a split head and broken nose, and spent three days in hospital.

Police have since arrested two of the alleged offenders, while the third remains on the run.

Local man Akec Akec, 22, has been charged over the incident but denies involvement.

A 15-year-old was also charged.

Mr Drake, who has lived in the area for more than 30 years, has said he has "no plans of moving" in wake of the alleged attack.

"If I wanted to feel strange about staying here, I would've moved yesterday.

"But I didn't. I'm staying."

An untrained man who pretended to be a doctor in New South Wales for 11 years was known to have poor medical knowledge and became defensive when his assessments were questioned.

Shyam Acharya was outed as a fraud in 2016 after he allegedly assumed the identity of an Indian doctor and practiced medicine at hospitals in Gosford, Wyong, Manly and Hornsby from 2003.

A doctor who worked with Acharya in the emergency department at Gosford Hospital as juniors when he first arrived in Australia on skilled migrant's visa said he had a bad reputation but was cut slack because he was new to the country.

Woman jailed over $1.3m ATO refund scam

Extract: Pornpat Chuensukjit, a 33-year-old Thai national, was sentenced in the NSW District Court on Thursday after being convicted on three counts of refund fraud.

Chuensukjit and her co-accused Kritsakul Thavapitak were arrested in 2014 following a two-year joint investigation by the Australian Federal Police and Australian Taxation Office. Thavapitak was sentenced last November to two years' jail.

Over a two-month period in 2010, Chuensukjit deceived three registered tax agents to lodge a total of 217 income tax returns with the ATO on behalf of unsuspecting taxpayers, with the pair collecting a total of $1.335 million in fraudulent tax refunds.

According to the tax office, Thavapitak provided forged documents which were accepted by the tax agents as genuine.

Brisbane, Queensland: Muslim Wields Machete

Extract: Muhumed Samow Ali pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of a woman at Wacol on September 10, 2015, when his trial began in the Brisbane Supreme Court today. But he pleaded guilty to other charges including dangerous operation of a vehicle, going armed so as to cause fear, and unlawful wounding.

The woman was left with a 6cm gash down to her skull.
