Darwin's Istanbul Cafe complains about people having sex in park

DINERS at a Darwin city cafe have been scared off by people having sex and defecating at a nearby park.

Istanbul Cafe complained to Darwin Council about the rising anti-social behaviour spilling from Tamarind Park to their restaurant veranda ...  they regularly call the police to remove the drunks.

Cafe owners Jenny and Nikitas Kavouklis said they also had trouble with people stealing food from plates and humbugging customers during meals.

Staff have quit because of abuse from itinerants.

Itinerants sleep on the veranda at night and wash themselves with the restaurant fountain.

"(Itinerants are) picking lice out of their heads as they try to engage in drunken conversation with our customers," Ms Kavouklis said.

"If I or you do what they do, we would see ourselves in Berrimah Jail," Mr Kavouklis said.

Yes... now that is the town I live in and this is an ugly, but common problem. Now I propose a solution. We can get these "drunks" off the street. and we can make money.. and we can do a bit for the community too. See ..  The Rose bushes down the oval need fertiliser.. and the fertiliser has to come from somewhere now doesn't it?
