THREE teenagers have been suspended for racial vilification following a heated under-14 Northern Territory Rugby League semi-final in Darwin.
Two members from the Litchfield Bears and a Palmerston Raiders player were yesterday handed three-match bans after the NTRL found racial vilification occurred in the under-14 match at Richardson Park on Saturday.
NTRL general manager John Mitchell said there was no place in the game for such incidents and that the governing body acted promptly.
"We do not tolerate incidents such as this in rugby league," Mr Mitchell said. "It is not good for our game. However we have acted swiftly and I believe professionally to make a strong stand against racial vilification."
A parent of one of the Raiders players told the NT News an indigenous teenager walked from the field in tears following the incident.

"What a sad day for NTRL," she said. "I feel for the young boy who left in tears, walked off and took his jersey off."
League officials launched an investigation into the incident on Saturday night and took witness statements from both clubs prior to the match review panel handing down its findings.
Mr Mitchell said in addition to the suspensions, the three players would also undertake a series of sessions to educate them about racial vilification.

If I cared enough to ever attend a football match and that turd was on the field, I'd boo him too! My reasoning is that he's a bully that picked on a 13 year old little girl, who only told the truth about him when she called him an APE! And an ape is exactly what Goodes is.

For the sake of a few browny points, I could go along with the racial view that him being black makes him an ape, but the fact is, Goodes is a professional footballer. And most professional footballers - of any code - are apes. It's the way they look - no matter their race or skin colouring - and the way they act on and off the field.

Adam Goodes, you are a frigging APE! Get over yourself and stop bullying little White girls.

AFL boss Gillon McLachlan has backed Lewis Jetta's war dance and called for the unprecedented and "sheep-like" booing of Sydney teammate Adam Goodes to stop.

The habitual targeting of Goodes is again in the spotlight following Jetta's emotion-charged indigenous goal celebration in front of West Coast fans on Sunday.

After scoring in the final quarter of the Swans' 52-point loss to the Eagles, Jetta angered a small section of the nearly 39,000-strong crowd at Perth's Domain Stadium by pretending to throw a make-believe spear at them.

McLachlan said it was fair for AFL fans to debate whether they believe the war dance is good or bad.

But called on them to stop turning on Goodes, suggesting they no longer even understand why they're doing it.

"I don't know that we've ever had the issue that we have with Adam now about him being booed for 15 or 16 weeks," he said.

"I do think there comes a point where we need to call out this behaviour and go enough is enough.

"It is draining on Adam. This is something that's not been going on for a few weeks, it's months now.

ONE of the Eagles fans booted from Sunday's clash with Sydney allegedly told Swans star Adam Goodes to "get back to the zoo", but denies the comment was racist.

The fan refused to be named, but says the comment was simply "off-the-cuff banter" and believes the outrage surrounding Goodes' treatment is "political correctness gone mad".
