* Police identified Matthew Dolloff, 30, as the suspect who shot dead a 'Patriot Muster' protester on Saturday 

* Dolloff had been hired by 9News to serve as security during dueling protests outside the Denver Art Museum

* The protester, identified by family as Lee Keltner, was seen striking Dolloff before firing mace at the guard

* Dolloff responded by firing a handgun at Keltner, who was pronounced dead at a hospital

* Social media video showed Keltner arguing with a Black Lives Matter counter-protester before he was shot

* The counter-protester told Keltner: 'F***ing mace me,' as bystanders attempted to pull them away from each other and the Patriot Muster protester stepped out of the video frame

* Seconds later a gunshot rang out and Keltner was seen lying on the pavement

* Dolloff immediately surrendered to police and is being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge

* Police said the shooter had no known affiliation with a group of Black Lives Matter and Antifa activists who turned out to protest the Patriot Muster rally

* Keltner's mother Carol confirmed his death on Facebook and said he was killed 'because he backed police'
