The former missionary, who will be known as Pope Leo XIV, has repeatedly criticized the Trump administration's immigration stance.

His last retweet, on April 14, slams the Trump administration's deportation of undocumented migrant and Maryland father-of-three Kilmar Abrego Garcia, 30, to El Salvador.

The post reads: 'Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?'

In 2017, Pope Leo reposted a message in support of DACA recipients - those undocumented migrants brought to the US by their parents when they were children.

Pope Leo also shared a post in 2018 that read: 'There is nothing remotely Christian, American, or morally defensible about a policy that takes children away from their parents and warehouses them in cages. This is being carried out in our name and the shame is on us all.'

He also shared several messages directly opposing Trump's immigration orders.

The first American pope in history has been named as Robert Francis Prevost in a landmark conclusion to the Conclave on Thursday.

Prevost, 69, was born in Chicago, Illinois and began studying to become a priest with the Catholic Church at the age of 18, before going on to graduate from Villanova University in Pennsylvania with a degree in mathematics four years later.

He spent much of his early life in South America and also holds Peruvian citizenship, and was said to have been seen as the 'least American of the Americans' who were in the running at the Conclave.

A popular figure in the church who served as the head of Pope Francis' vetting process for new bishop nominations. [The Vatican sacked pro-American Bishops and replaced them with anti-American/anti-White Bishops. ~ @Cailen.]

Following his graduation in Pennsylvania, Prevost first went to Peru in 1985 as a missionary before being named the Roman Catholic Diocese for the Chulucanas region that same year.

Prevost - also known as Father Bob - returned to work as a pastor in Chicago in 1987 for one year before becoming the head of the Augustinian seminary in Trujillo, Peru - a role he kept for a decade.

In 1998, he was elected as the head of the Augustinian Province of Chicago, making him one of the leading religious figures in the United States.

The man he succeeded to lead the Vatican, Pope Francis, brought Prevost to Italy in 2023 and handed him a prominent post heading into the Conclave, a process where cardinals vote in secret to elect the new Pope that was watched in anticipation by millions.

Prevost chose the name of Pope Leo XIV in succession with Pope Leo XIII, who most famously penned the Encyclical Rerum Novarum, which condemned socialism. As Breitbart News noted in 2019, the Encyclical came at a time when the world faced multiple questions about the nature of labor in the midst of the industrial revolution.

According to various accounts, Prevost holds similar views to his predecessor, Pope Francis, with some differences on contentious issues. Per the College of Cardinals Report:

On key topics, Cardinal Prevost says little but some of his positions are known. He is reportedly very close to Francis' vision regarding the environment, outreach to the poor and migrants, and meeting people where they are. He said last year "the bishop is not supposed to be a little prince sitting in his kingdom."

He supported Pope Francis' change in pastoral practice to allow divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion. Prevost appears somewhat less favorable to currying favor with the LGBTQ lobby than Francis, but he showed mild support for Fiducia Supplicans.

This one is very useful for a lot of us. In Australia, it's 3% of the population are Abos - so-called "Blak". And in Canada and the UK it's typically listed as 3% each for Blacks. In the US it's 14% Black.
