Title: Cancer a modern disease
Post by: Albert on Thu 28 Oct 2010
As argued by Ben Klassen in salubrious Living. The moral is to live a natural, healthy lifestyle.

Accepting that some cancers are caused by our lifestyle and modern environment, the other theory that many scientists have is that as man lives longer, cancer (that not caused by lifestyle and the modern environment) becomes inevitable. Thirty years ago the average age of death was in the fifties and sixties of strokes to the brain and heart (heart attacks/cardiac arrests). Recognition of the problems of high blood pressure has led to the common supply and consumption of blood pressure medication which has alleviated that problem somewhat. So, now that people live longer, the next disease on the rise is cancer.

And the fun doesn't end there: Those same scientists that say cancer is inevitable also say that if they could cure cancer today, people would live longer again and it would be heart disease that would be on the rise. Cure heart disease and as people live longer, it will be their brains that turn to mush from dementia and other problems. Cure those problems and you'll have a vibrant, intelligent mind living in a husk of a body barely able to move. A living hell for any sane person.

So, do you want to live for ever?

You do need to be careful what you eat, grow your own food. I grow some things and they taste better than shop brought.  :)
