And not just a few. From all the foreign volunteers that joined the German armed forces in WW2,
the single largest group consisted of estimated at least 1 million Soviet citizens, with some estimates being as high as more than 2 million. (https://media.gab.com/cdn-cgi/image/width=700,quality=100,fit=scale-down/system/media_attachments/files/123/573/926/original/7614e87ac655c44e.png)
They came from the various Soviet republics with different ethnic backgrounds, while ethnic Russians making up the largest proportion. Below, some photos of "Soviet citizens" who fought on the German side during the war.
