Five people have been arrested at anti-racism and anti-Islam rallies in Sydney, a day after violent clashes at similar protests in Melbourne.About 150 members of the Reclaim Australia group gathered in Sydney's Martin Place on Sunday morning, some wearing ancient Greek army costumes and others with Australian flags draped across their shoulders.


Two blocks away, a loud counter-protest group waved banners saying 'Stand With Multiculturalism Against Racism' and 'No Racism, no Islamophobia'.

Police kept the groups separated but one man was swooped on by officers after slipping into the anti-racism protest.The crowd became noisy and several people shouted 'Nazi' as he was led away.

George Jameson, rallying with Reclaim Australia in a replica Spartan military outfit, said they weren't racists and had come together to stand up for freedom of speech.

Anti-racism protesters and nationalists have clashed in Melbourne, with police forced to use capsicum spray to subdue demonstrators.At least four people were arrested on Saturday after rival rallies held by Reclaim Australia, the United Patriots Front and several groups against racism and Islamophobia attracted hundreds of people.

Victoria state Deputy Premier James Merlino said the clashes near state parliament, which included masked protesters who tried to break through a police line, were unpleasant.'People don't like seeing ugly scenes like they're seeing today,' he said.


'The message to all Victorians is that the spreading of hatred and the spreading of bigotry is not tolerated.''Our (cultural) diversity is one of our state's greatest strengths ... it's up to all of us to protect our diversity, celebrate it, send a message to those very small number of people that the spreading of hatred, the spreading of bigotry, is simply not tolerated,' he added.

Police assistant commissioner Stephen Leane said while only a small number of protesters were intent on violence, the use of capsicum spray was justified.'(Police) were at significant threat of having their lines over run and it was a tool we had to use at the time,' he said.

Note: The Reclaim Australia (from Islamic extremism) Rallies are an event organised by pro-Multicultural, pro-Israel, anti-Islam populist groups. Of that list, we White Racial Loyalists (WRL's) are anti-Islam only. The rally organisers are not WRL in any way whatsoever! However, as we WRL's do agree with the reasoning behind the rally, a large number of us did attend in support – albeit in a low key manner. After all, it wasn't our rally – but we do have an interest in its success.

So ... Went to the Reclaim Australia Rally on the steps of SA Parliament House in Adelaide this morning. The state government must have ordered the coppers to keep people from joining the protest, because when I arrived half an hour before scheduled kick-off, there was only one way in and out; and they soon closed that off as well. Nevertheless, good to see that all of our WRL friends that attended managed to push through the groß unwashed. The Reds are claiming a victory – as they always do – but the numbers were roughly even.

There was one incidence of violence when the Reds tried to storm the police lines. A number of us ran down ready to plunge into the scuffle if need be, but the police held their line. One Red was arrested. After all, if the police had not been able to keep spotty faced filth at bay, it would have been seniors and children that would have been at risk from severe injury. Better us than those that have no chance of defending themselves.
