HORRIFIC details of the latest asylum seeker tragedy have emerged with the Melbourne cousin of a family on board the doomed vessel revealing they feared they were in trouble when the boat was turned back to Indonesia. The man received a phone call from the boat on Friday — and now Melbourne's Lebanese community is in mourning after the drowning of at least 21 people, mostly children, while many are still missing.

A NEW campaign to keep an Adelaide Hills asylum detention centre open has been backed by one of the state's leading church groups.
              
Senior leaders from the Uniting Church have publicly supported a community fight to save the Inverbrackie detention centre, near Woodside, which has been earmarked for closure.

But the issue provoked an extraordinary row during an interview on ABC radio between the Uniting Church and the local Liberal member Jamie Briggs.
Mr Briggs, who has been appointed to Tony Abbott's ministry, accused Rev Prof Andrew Dutney, the President of the Uniting Church in Australia, of being a liar over his claims the government believes the centre is too "nice".

The new Federal Coalition government earlier this year flagged that it would shut the multi-million dollar centre, located 37km east of Adelaide, if it won the election.

Supporters and the Uniting Church argue that while they did not support mandatory detention, the centre was considered "humane" and its economic impact too great to close.

IMMIGRATION Minister Scott Morrison has issued a stern warning to refugees escaping the Syrian crisis - if they try to come to Australia by boat they will not be welcome.                                       
Mr Morrison this morning said there would be "no sympathy" given to boat people, regardless of their country of origin.
His comments come in the wake of the latest boat tragedy in which at least 31 people, mostly children, drowned off the coast of Indonesia with many more still missing.
'WE ARE BOTH VICTIMS OF SMUGGLERS'               
News Corp Australia this morning revealed among the dead were a group of Lebanese refugees lured to Australia on fake Syrian passports.
The families from an impoverished area of Lebanon were promised a safe "ship" to Australia via the fake identification.
Mr Morrison said the boat disaster was a tragedy but that the Australian government would not refrain from its hard line approach.
"People who are going to try and use the Syrian conflict, which is a dreadful and horrible tragedy that is unfolding before us there, as some sort of cover to come to Australia for economic migration - we are just not going to cop it," he told 2GB Sydney radio host Ray Hadley.

THE Abbott Government is playing down reports that people smugglers are ferrying asylum seekers in locked shipping containters to bypass tough deterrent policies.
Senior Customs sources have also questioned the reports suggesting asylum seekers are being offered a ticket to Australia via industrial ports such as Port Botany, Geelong or Fremantle.
With the Government's hardline approach on asylum seekers causing a slowdown in boat arrivals, people smugglers are reportedly raising the container option as a means of getting around tougher immigration policies.

INDONESIA and Australia were locked in a stand-off after Jakarta said it would not accept any people on board a boat rescued by an Australian vessel.
The flare-up in tensions came with relations between the two neighbours already under pressure following reports that the Australian embassy in Jakarta carried out surveillance as part of a US-led spying network.
Lieutenant General Angus Campbell, commander of Canberra's military-led effort to stop people-smuggling boats arriving, said an Australian boat had answered a call for assistance yesterday.
"Australia has coordinated its efforts with Indonesian authorities in relation to a vessel that first requested assistance approximately 43 nautical miles south of Java in Indonesia's search and rescue region,'' Campbell told reporters in Sydney.
"I am advised that all people have been accounted for and in line with standard practice I will not comment further on this or other on-water issues.''
Under Australia's new conservative government, asylum-seekers arriving by unauthorised boats face the prospect of their vessels being turned back to Indonesia, from where many of them embark, if it is safe to do so.
But the policy has angered Indonesian officials, who warn it could breach their country's sovereignty and today Jakarta said it would not accept those on board the boat helped by the Australians.



Alright! so The muds on the boat are sinking in Indonesian waters, they call "water cab Australia" to assist. Australia doesn't feel obligated to and neither does Indonesia.. But Australia goes into the Indonesian waters to assist and bring them to Australian turf?
How far beyond it is it going now? I thought Abbott was going to deal with all this and he won't stand up to these :-caramel skinned , bug eyed, mud people?

TONY Abbott's government capitulated to Indonesia on Friday night, ordering a Customs boat with up to 63 refugees on board to go to Christmas Island.

A refugee source in Indonesia contacted Fairfax Media early on Saturday to say the boat had reached the Australian territory on Friday night after immigration minister Scott Morrison failed to convince Indonesia to accept their return.

The source said the people on board were from Pakistan and Afghanistan, and had been organised by people smugglers called Muzahir and Sher Ali.

The refugee source said people smugglers in West Java were talking about sending another boat within three days, or up to a week. About 30 people had already paid money to a trusted third party for the voyage, he said. [more ...

This shows how far the United Nations has its claws hooked into our formerly White sovereign nations. Pre UN, a pissy little primitive country like Indonesia would never have been able to stand over Australia. What instead would have happened is that the Australian Navy would have treated the people smugglers and their illegal alien/back door immigrants as pirates and ordered them to abandon ship and then blown their boat out of the water. Then they would have taken the crew to the nearest Indo land and handed them over to the authorities at gun point. If the Indos jacked up, they then would have changed tactics, towing the boats into an Indo harbour, machine gunning them below the waterline and leaving the pirates to their fate. If the Indos interfered and tried to put a stop to it, they two would have been blown out of the water.

Pirates have no rights. If the Indos persist on defending these pirates, then the pirates are in fact Privateers working for the Indo government and their Muslim passengers are enemy combatants to be used against the Australian nation and people, and nothing short of open warfare will put a stop to this unwanted invasion of our sovereign shores.
