The 24-year-old is accused of plotting a bomb threat to Bankstown Shopping Centre and made threats to Marrickville police station.

A TAXI driver has been held up by two men – with one allegedly wielding a broken glass bottle.

The taxi driver, 46, was parked on the inbound side of Bagot Rd near the footbridge at 11.45pm last night when he was attacked.

The two men approached the vehicle and opened the driver and passenger doors.

Police allege one of the males was armed with a broken bottle and threatened the victim while demanding money.

The victim handed over a sum of cash and the offenders fled on foot.

The first offender is described as an indigenous male in his mid-20s with wavy dark hair trimmed around the ears and a thin moustache.

AN Alternatives to Prison model will be trialled in East Arnhem and Alice Springs as part of an $8.8 million investment aimed at reducing "staggering" rates of Aboriginal incarceration.

The NT Government has announced that $5.5 million will be put towards the model over the next three years, with the remaining $3.3 million going towards supporting the Aboriginal Justice Unit in developing and monitoring the Territory's first Aboriginal Justice Agreement.

"The rates of indigenous incarceration and recidivism in the NT are staggering and have to be addressed," said Attorney-General Natasha Fyles.

"The project aims to reduce the rates of indigenous incarceration and recidivism by supporting at risk Aboriginal Territorians."

Ms Fyles said the project would look at facilities that helped "clients" find jobs and housing, rather than incarcerating them.

There is a reason why there is so many in Gaol.They are caveman people! OK go ahead and find them work, what's going to be done to discipline them if they bludge or be corrupt at the job? That is normally what happens and they don't get fired because the employer needs to employ so many Abos to get contracts and subsidies.

A dangerous sex offender with a long history of violent rapes and assaults on women and children is currently at large after ripping off his ankle monitor.

It's been more than 24 hours since police were able to pinpoint the exact location of Patrick Lennard Narrier, 45, last seen on Tuesday night in Forrestfield near Perth.

Narrier was released from jail in November 2017 subject to 50 conditions - despite being considered a serious danger to the community and having repeatedly breached supervision orders in the past.

It is understood that he has now cut off his ankle bracelet.

Narrier's history of violent offending dates back to 1993, including sexually assaulting a woman when he was a teenager and shortly thereafter attacking a 12-year-old girl he had abducted from her home at knifepoint.

Police officers are appealing for the public's help in finding Narrier through the crime stoppers hotline.
