AN ice addict accused of killing three people when he lost control of his car as he sped through a red light in Melbourne has been denied bail. 
 
Brazilian national Nei Lima DaCosta, 29, is charged with hitting and killing a pedestrian then ploughing into a car and killing a married couple in Oakleigh on Sunday.

Magistrate Charlie Rozencwajg said DaCosta's reckless driving coupled with his admitted recreational drug use made him a risk to the community.

"The disregard shown to the safety of the public ... make him an unacceptable risk," Mr Rozencwajg said in refusing bail on Wednesday.

Family and friends of the deceased burst into applause as Mr Rozencwajg refused bail in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.

DaCosta has been charged with three counts of culpable driving, three of negligently causing serious injury and one of reckless conduct endangering life.

The Brazilian national is accused of hitting and killing pedestrian Anthony Parsons before killing married couple Inimi and Savvas Menelaou when his out-of-control vehicle collided with their car.

Brazil is full of different races, but more than likely this guy isn't of pure Spanish or Portugese Blood.

A serial sex attacker who stalks women in Melbourne has struck again, police believe.

The man, linked to two previous attacks, is now believed to be behind another serious assault and the stalking of three women.

In the most recent attack, he grabbed a 22-year-old woman from behind early Saturday morning and forced her into a secluded city stairwell, where she was sexually assaulted for 20 minutes.

Police believe the same man stalked another three young women in the area earlier that morning.

He followed them into the female toilets at Southern Cross Station, but the women locked themselves in cubicles and threatened to call triple zero, scaring him off.

Detective Inspector Paul Binyon says police want to catch the man quickly before another woman gets hurt.

'This offender is behaving like a predator,' he told reporters on Tuesday.

'There's no doubt that the offences he's committed here are terrible and we need to stop this man.'
The man is described as Asian or South American in appearance, aged in his late teens to mid-20s, with a slim build and about 165 centimetres tall.

BRAWLERS pelted police with glass bottles in Melbourne as they tried to break up a large street fracas, sparking fears of drunken violence marring Australia Day festivities. 
 
Officers had been confronted by a huge crowd of aggressive youths after being called to Springvale  Chinkvale in the city's southeast just before midnight on Friday.

At least 80 people were already fighting in the street when a glass bottle was thrown at one of the police.

Acting Senior Sergeant Anita Brens says police had to spray down four men in the crowd with capsicum foam to try to break up the brawl.

While the group slowly left the suburban street, they continued pelting police with a barrage of glass bottles.

"They continued to be abusive towards police and fight amongst themselves," she said.

No one was arrested and the police all escaped injury.

Victorian Premier Denis Napthine said he was disgusted by the group's behaviour and praised police for being able to handle such a volatile situation.

"That is absolutely inappropriate, that is wrong, it is disgusting behaviour," he said.

"It is not the sort of behaviour we want in Melbourne or Victoria."

The melee came only a day after senior police warned of drunken violence occurring over the Australia Day long weekend.

Deputy Commissioner Tim Cartwright said the assault rate on January 26 has been skyrocketing in recent years, largely due to open-air events, alcohol and large gatherings of people.

"We have lots of public events, lots of occasions, but it's still our worst day," he said.

Patrols will be stepped up in city hotspots and around public transport hubs to deal with the expected surge in violence.

A 14-YEAR-OLD girl gang-raped by six men in a western Sydney park was so traumatised that police had to wait a day before speaking to her. 
 
The teenager was walking a short distance home from a friend's house at 11pm on Saturday through a park in Doonside when she was approached by a man who spoke to her.

He then touched her inappropriately before forcing her to the ground and sexually assaulting her on one of the pathways in Bill Colbourne Reserve.

The man's five friends then took turns sexually assaulting her in an attack that lasted about 30 minutes.

"Part of the delay of us getting the information out to the public is because the young girl was in shock," police Superintendent Gary Merryweather said.

"Her family are nice people ... they're just completely devastated."

The men fled, leaving the girl to walk to a friend's house nearby where police were called and she was taken to hospital.

The men are all described as being of African appearance and aged in their late teens to early 20s.

Some residents reported noises in the park.

Police are hunting the men and believe someone must know the attackers.

"If people (with information) do not ring and contact the police, they are condoning this horrendous behaviour," Supt Merryweather said.

Witnesses say Phillips was leaving the event with some friends when he was attacked.

The gang of 20 teenagers, who witnesses say were mostly Sudanese or of Black African descent, lay in wait for the teenager and slashed him four times in a frenzied group attack.

Witnesses said the group had tried to gate crash a Cranbourne party and then waited outside to ambush any of the guests that left.

After a brief discussion the group set upon the 14-year-old landing a flurry of kicks and punches.

When the helpless teen then curled himself up into a ball on the ground his attackers started laying in kicks.
The gang took his wallet and items of his clothing during the attack.

FORMER bikie boss Sam Ibrahim and drummer for rock band Rose Tattoo, Paul De Marco, have been charged after being arrested as part of investigations into an alleged gun running syndicate. 
 
The pair were swept up in a series of early morning raids today along with Sam's sister Maha Sayour. Police also seized 13 weapons resulting from the six-month undercover operation in western Sydney.

De Marco, 55, has been charged with 27 counts including supplying a pistol to an unauthorised person, supplying ammunition, supplying a prohibited firearm and supplying a prohibited weapon.

Ibrahim, 45, was charged with four counts related to the supply of a pistol to an unauthorised person, conspiracy to commit an offence – supplying a firearm to an unauthorised person and supplying a prohibited firearm which is subject to a prohibition order.
They have been refused bail and are due to appear at Blacktown Local Court via audio visual link today.

Sayour, 43, was charged with conspiracy to commit offence – supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess.

She has been refused bail and is due to appear at Wollongong Local Court today.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.

Ibrahim's solicitor, Brett Galloway, said his client was unlikely to make a bail application.

"I've not yet seen the facts ... these are serious charges and these things need to be given great consideration,'' Mr Galloway told Fairfax.

Following extensive inquiries, police from North West Metropolitan Region, assisted by specialist units, executed six simultaneous search warrants at Windsor, Greystanes, Londonderry, Castlereagh, St Marys and Warilla, about 6.15am today.
