A MAN *boong*described as a "danger to women in the Territory" has received a 10-year jail sentence for two Nightcliff rapes in 2014. 
 
Izen McDonald, 22, will not be eligible for parole until July 2021.

NT Supreme Court Acting Justice Dean Mildren said sexual assaults were "incredibly frightening" and "must be dealt with severely".

McDonald admitted two counts of sexual assault without consent on two women.

He also pleaded guilty to an unlawful assault during the first incident, which occurred about 3am on March 6, 2014.

Prosecutor Stephen Geary told the court McDonald dragged the woman, 41, into an empty car park off Progress Drive after he asked her for a ­cigarette.Who else goes around begging for a ciggy but a coon*?

McDonald forced the woman to perform oral sex on him before he raped her.

The second attack occurred on Dick Ward Drive on July 27, less than five months later.

The woman, also 41, was homeless and had gone in search of cigarettes about 1.30am.

Mr Geary said she ran into McDonald and asked if he had any cannabis.

"The offender led the victim behind a parked car and asked her to lie on the ground,'' he said.

The court heard McDonald jumped on top of the victim and raped her, despite her screams for him to stop.

Mr Geary said McDonald had received a two-month suspended jail sentence less than one month before the first rape.

"He'd been to prison before,'' he said, referring to his five-day stint.

"He'd had a taste and it had no deterrent at all."

Mr Geary said despite McDonald's tragic upbringing, he was "a danger to women in the Territory".

"I'm trying to be fair, but as of today this is a man with a very serious criminal history,'' he said.

Defence lawyer Marty Aust said his client had started using ice in the lead-up to the two rapes.

Mr Aust also said McDonald may have been born with foetal alcohol syndrome and have "cognitive deficits" as a result of substance abuse.[/u]*his folks are probably coon drunks for this condition to happen , who else would be dumb enough to get this condition?*

A BLOODY brawl out the front of her shop has a Parap business owner renewing her calls for Darwin council and the Territory Police to address ongoing drunkenness and violence in the area. 
 
Crust Gourmet Pizza owner Sally Illingworth says the final straw came after a drunk woman smashed her shop ­window and threatened to stab her with a shard of glass.

During a loud argument over stolen alcohol, the woman smashed the shop window with her bare foot, leaving a pool of blood on the footpath.

When Ms Illingworth asked her why she had smashed the window, the woman said, "But sister you don't understand, I need something to stab those c---s with," referring to the men she thought had stolen her ­alcohol.

Ms Illingworth says the woman then turned on her, threatening to stab her with a shard of glass.

When Ms Illingworth told the couple that the police had been called, she said the man threatened her with violence.

"I'll f---ing bash you, you don't help her," the man said to Ms Illingworth.

Ms Illingworth said the time had come for improved street lighting to discourage so-called anti-social behaviour.

"As a matter of priority ­corrective actions need to be taken," she said.

"There are currently seven businesses within the precinct that trade later than 7pm, anywhere up until 11pm."

Ms Illingworth said that if Parap was to continue to develop, the safety of customers, employees and residents needed to be made a priority.

"Consumers do not feel comfortable or safe when visiting," she said.

Ms Illingworth said police took 20 minutes to ­respond to the argument.

At other times, police have responded within several minutes.

She has written to Darwin council, NT Police and the Territory Government demanding safety improvements in the area, but said something needed to be done to prevent crime rather than just responding to it.

"From sundown onwards every night of the week, the public carpark facing Parap Rd is occupied by itinerants, both indigenous and non-indigenous," she said.

"People congregate around areas that aren't lit to avoid police and the night patrols.

"When you are running a business, you can't afford to spend all your time looking over your shoulder."

A ROGUE busker BOONG allegedly used his guitar as a weapon in an attack on a security guard at Mindil Beach markets on Thursday night. 
 
The man has been issued a trespass notice, and police are expecting to charge him with assault.

Markets managing director Di Henry said the 52-year-old busker was a regular but was asked to leave by staff because he appeared drunk.

Ms Henry said the situation worsened after staff called the market's security team.

"He wasn't very happy. He started hitting the security guard with the guitar," she said.


"We're a family friendly event, we like buskers but we don't tolerate this kind of thing."

NT Police Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said the man launched into a tirade at the security guard, and attempted to elbow him in the face.

Sen Sgt Jorgensen said assaulting a worker is a serious charge.

"(Security guards are) merely trying to do their job, on this occasion in the interest of public order and safety," she said.

"This type of behaviour will not be tolerated and police will continue to take affirmative action when it does occur."

Ms Henry said the security guard only had minor injuries, was treated by St Johns, and finished his shift.

FOUR people - including the 17-year-old wanted over the alleged theft of six firearms in Fannie Bay - have been arrested after police and TRG surrounded a housing complex in Palmerston. 
 
The four had been holed up in Flat 33 of the 'Sin City' apartments since about 2pm on Tuesday.

Ezra Austral, 17, who had been on the run since escaping Darwin Magistrates Court on Friday, was the last of the four to be marched out.

Police maintained a cordon around the property after the four arrests, believing there may have been another person, 22-year-old Ronald Kelly, still inside.

They broke in at around 730pm, but he was not there.


Kelly's cousin Daniel Benger, who was at the scene on Tuesday afternoon, said earlier he believed 17-year-old Ezra Austral and a younger cousin were in the house.

Mr Benger said the younger two "don't really know what they're getting themselves in to".

"Ron has been in jail a few times before, but the others are just boys," he said.

"I'm worried about them with guns. If they did steal them, they're just little black kids they would have only taken them bush to shoot pigs or geese."





   

Ronald Kelly and Ezra Austral may be responsible for stealing five firearms during a break-in at a Fannie Bay home.

Police released the images of the two males, who they believe may be able to assist in relation to the unlawful entry and stealing incident early on Tuesday morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said at around 5am police received a report a residence in Fannie Bay had been unlawfully entered and five rifles, one shotgun, ammunition and a Mazda 2 had been stolen.

"Police recovered the vehicle which was alight a short time later in Marlow Lagoon," he said.

"Ezra Austral, aged 17, is also wanted by police after he escaped custody from the Darwin Magistrates Court on Friday 22 May.

"Ronald Kelly, aged 22, has a history of property offending and firearm thefts.

"It is an offence to harbour a fugitive and police would urge the public to report any information in relation to their whereabouts and movements."

SHOCKING footage of a man risking his life by running into traffic and jumping on cars in Darwin has emerged on Facebook. 
 
Semi-professional footballer Matty McRoberts captured the footage of the man at traffic lights on Trower Rd just outside popular shopping destination Casuarina Square at about 8.30pm Tuesday.

He said the man had been "carrying on" for about five minutes before he started running into traffic.


Towards the end of the video, the man jumped on the bonnet of a taxi which then sped away and threw him to the ground.
Mr McRoberts said after the cab drove off, the man walked away and did not look injured.

NT Police are aware of the incident and will release a statement shortly.



Darwin Traffic Operations Superintendent Robert Rennie said police sent out a unit to locate the man after they received reports of the incident just after 8.30pm.

"Several attempts to locate him however were not successful," he said.

"In this instance, the man's agitated state and subsequent actions placed several motorists and potentially passers-by in a dangerous situation."

Supt Rennie said it is not currently known whether the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

"His actions in jumping onto vehicles amounts to deliberate criminal damage," he said.

"The taxi driver appears to have attempted to remove himself from the situation, given the apparent volatility of the situation.

"It is not known whether the taxi driver had customers in the cab or whether there were concerns for the safety of the occupants nor whether the taxi suffered any criminal damage by this person jumping onto the bonnet."

The incident is not being considered as a hit-and-run.

POLICE have described the arrest of four youths — including a 12-year-old, two 13-year-olds and a 15-year-old — over a low-speed pursuit as a "sad state of affairs". 
 
The youths were arrested after leading police on a low-speed pursuit through Karama*Dodgy area with Coon housing trust* about 12.30am Thursday.

Superintendent Brendan Muldoon said the arrests "make you wonder what's going on at home".

Police were responding to reports a car had been left in the middle of Kalymnos Drv, Karama. He said as police responded, the car was spotted being driven by a group of five youths.

Checks quickly revealed the blue Mazda sedan had been stolen.


Supt Muldoon said police attempted to stop the car, but the youths dodged them. He said the pursuit lasted about 15 minutes before police were able to stop the car.

"The youths then fled on foot, and members were able to chase them down and arrest four."

A fifth youth escaped.

Supt Muldoon said they would be interviewed some time on Thursday.
