A fire which ripped through Melbourne's Adass Israel synagogue is being treated as a likely terror attack, Australian police say.

Three suspects are being hunted over Friday's early-morning blaze, which left one man with a minor burn to his hand and caused extensive damage. Witnesses say they saw masked figures spreading what appeared to be an accelerant in the building, before setting it alight.

Men still account for the vast majority of offenders, accounting for 90.6 percent of all prisoners, while 9.4 percent of all prisoners are women. The rate of foreigners in Swiss prisons has remained relatively stable over the last 10 years, but the overall number of prisoners has also jumped significantly. The vast majority of prisoners are incarcerated for minor offenses, such as petty theft. In some cases, if offenders are unable or unwilling to pay a fine, they can be incarcerated in Switzerland. Many prisoners are serving sentences between five and 90 days.  It is unclear the exact breakdown of the foreign prison population in 2023. Switzerland has many foreign European nationals residing in the country, but many of those arrested and imprisoned are non-EU nationals.

One passenger was hit by a car escaping the bus. Another passenger was shot multiple times to death. A similar story happened in APElanta this past June, with a passenger shot dead, too. A 25-page report from the Bureau of Justice Statistics shows that non-citizens accounted for 64 percent of arrests for federal offenses in 2018. The report showed a complete flip from 1998 when 63 percent of arrests for federal offenses were of U.S. citizens. In 2018, 64 percent of arrests for federal offenses were non-citizens. Non-U.S. citizens make up roughly seven percent of the U.S. population, according to the 2017 U.S. Census Bureau, but non-U.S. citizens still "accounted for 15% of all federal arrests and 15% of prosecutions in U.S. district court for non-immigration crimes in 2018," per the report. In the five judicial districts along the U.S. Southern Border with Mexico, federal arrests nearly doubled between the years of 1998 and 2018 — 33 percent to 65 percent. Five Somalis were convicted in Minnesota for stealing money from a COVID fund intended to feed hungry children. This comes after a juror in the case was dismissed following a bribery attempt by those affiliated with the defendants.  The individuals had been charged with stealing over $40 million from Feeding Our Future, funded by federal food-aid programs... the five used those funds to enhance their own wealth, buying cryptocurrency, luxury goods, and properties. Those on trial were Somali immigrants... The charges cover conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, and bribery. It was one of the largest fraud cases, prosecutors said, that the Department of Justice had prosecuted in many years. ... "These defendants exploited a program designed to provide nutritious food to needy children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Staten Island's black superintendent has denied sending a series of anti-white text messages to a staff member vowing to give white principals the sack as she pushes for more diverse staff in the district. Multiple investigations involving the salacious text exchange have been launched -  but the DOE has called them 'unsubstantiated' and 'fake' as they continue the probe.  A DOE spokesperson told silive.com that the SCI is now looking into the origins of the texts.
