Live: Deadly shooting at Paris HQ of French satirical magazine

Shots have been fired at French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo in the heart of Paris Wednesday, with Paris officials reporting at least 10 fatalities. Witnesses at the scene reported seeing multiple masked gunmen.

AUSTRALIAN extremists have spread their vile hatred online justifying the horrific attack on a satirical magazine in Paris because they insulted the prophet.


Perth-based firebrand Junaid Thorne tweeted within hours of the attack that killed 12 at Charlie Hebdo's office in Paris that insulting someone's prophet would cause a "backlash."

Isn't it ironic that Facebook and the media is awash with people talking about freedom of speech and expression after a left-wing Cultural Marxist publication was attacked yesterday for using its right to freely express its views, yet these same people do not afford the same freedom of speech and expression to Nationalists and openly call for us to be silenced and banned and afforded no platform. Hypocrites.

In fact I wonder how many people would be debating it if it were Nationalists attacked for using their right to freedom of speech.

The mainstream media certainty didn't condemn the murder of 2 Golden Dawn members in Greece for being members of a perfectly legal democratic party with 18 elected members of the Greek Parliament. There were no vigils by the left in support of freedom of expression then. In fact they gloated over the killings.

Police named Said Kouachi, 34, Cherif Kouachi, 32, and Hamyd Mourad, 18, as the three gunmen suspected of carrying out the attack.

It is understood French police discovered who the attackers were after finding an identity card in an abandoned getaway car.
French magazine Le Point is reporting the two brothers had returned to France from Syria last month, and had ties to an Iraqi network in Paris encouraging young men to join militants in Iraq.

Cherif may have served prison time in 2008 for involvement in an Iraqi jihadist group operating out of France.

The prophet is shown with a tear in his eye, a reference to the sadness of the occasion.

The satirical newspaper released the image ahead of the new issue's publication tomorrow.

It will be the first edition of the paper since the attack on its Paris office last week, which left 12 people dead, including eight staff members.

The tragedy is likely to make this Charlie Hebdo's most-read issue ever, reaching a global audience.

The newspaper has become an emblem for freedom of expression, with people across the world showing solidarity with the words "Je suis Charlie".

Distributors said on Monday they were preparing to print as many as three million copies of Wednesday's issue, 50 times the normal circulation of 60,000.

Its journalists have been working from the offices of left-wing daily Liberation.

The new artwork echoes one of the paper's most famous covers, from November 2011, when it was "guest-edited" by the Prophet Mohammed.

Depicting Mohammed is considered blasphemy and a serious insult by many Muslims.

The magazine's title was changed to "Charia Hebdo" (Charia is French for Sharia, as in Sharia law), and the cover showed the prophet saying, "100 lashes if you don't die of laughter!"

After that issue was published, the magazine's office was firebombed and its website hacked.

Bulgaria will extradite a Frenchman who had been arrested on January 1 on suspicion of wanting to take his three-year-old son to Syria to train for jihad but had now been hit with a second arrest warrant linking him to the Said and Charif Kouachi brothers who shot dead 12 people at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

Police have named the suspect as Fritz-Joly Joachin.
