Extract: A photo has emerged showing a man shot dead outside a McDonald's restaurant.

Images emerging from the scene appear to show numerous victims lying on the floor of the mall.

Further images have emerged that appear to show gunmen outside a McDonald's and on the roof of a car park as reports of further shootings filter through.

Disturbing video appears to show victims being herded away from the shopping mall towards a gunman waiting at nearby Mcdonald's.

Terrified people can be seen fleeing towards a man brandishing a hand gun before he unleashes a hail of bullets.


Reports suggest the shooting has ceased, but police are yet to confirm whether the assailant has been arrested.

"Unconfirmed reports of more violence and possible gunfire in the City Centre. Situation is unclear. Please avoid public areas," the official Munich Police account posted on Twitter.

Authorities are trying to evacuate people from the Olympia mall but many remain in hiding.

It's the second attack in Germany in less than a week.

On Monday, a 17-year-old Afghan wounded four people in an axe-and-knife attack on a regional train near the Bavarian city of Wuerzburg, and another woman outside as he fled.

While a motive for the attack has not been confirmed, reports have emerged that the gunmen may have been right-wing extremists rather than Islamists.

Local media examined a video believed to have been filmed at the scene of the attack, which comes exactly five years after white supremacist JEW LOVING mass killer Anders Breivik murdered 77 people in Norway.

In the video, a man carrying a rifle can be heard shouting racist obscenities up to people filming him from a balcony.

"I was born here! ... I am German," the shooter can be heard saying. "Ihr Scheißtürken!" - "You *ing Turks!"

Witness Luan Zequiri told local broadcaster n-tv that he heard the attacker yell an anti-foreigner slur, followed by "a really loud scream".

The female members urge the guy filming to go inside and when the shots hit balcony he tell "mater svoju u picku" (may he(shooter) * his own mother)  which is Bosnian equivalent of term mother*er.

Police gave a 'cautious all clear' early this morning, more than seven hours after the attack began and brought much of the city to a standstill as all public transit systems were shut down amid a massive manhunt.

The shooter has been identified as a dual nationality German-Iranian, who has been living in Munich for more than two years.

Munich Police President, Mr Andrae said: 'The perpetrator was an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich. The motive or explanation for this crime is completely unclear.'

The shooter was not previously known to police and there was no evidence of any links to terrorist organizations, Andrae said.

He added: 'The question of terrorism or a rampage is tied to motive, and we don't know the motive. 'We can't question the suspect so this is all a little more difficult.'

Chancellor Merkel's ruling party suffered widespread losses to the anti-immigrant Alternative für Deutschland in this year's local elections.

And as the nation gets set to go to vote in the national federal elections next year, polls are suggesting she could be ousted.

Another user @HillBuzz aka Kevin DuJan said: "What will it take for Angela Merkel to resign from office? German people need to wake up she is responsible for all of this."

J Mäntyvaara added: "Angela Merkel must leave after this because she is dangerous for whole Europe."

Mrs Merkel has yet to make any comment on the situation in Munich however she is not thought to have travelled to the city.

Earlier this week Germany's interior minister warned of the "serious" threat from lone wolf attacks in the country and across Europe, telling the public to expect further attacks.

Police seized disturbing books and a computer from his room after he hacked a Facebook account to lure kids to his shooting rampage.

Munich police president Hubertus Andrae said Sonboly killed himself and acted alone but he was not a refugee. He was born and raised in Munich and was a local student who had been receiving psychological treatment for depression.

So far, "no evidence" has been found to link him to Islamic State. However, police found documents and books in his room linked to shootings and "rampages".
