Vodacom Scam

Johannesburg - A R7m scam, allegedly perpetrated by a Vodacom employee, represented a world first in breaching SMS-based [short message signal-based] banking integrity, top security firm Kaspersky Lab has said.

On Monday, a Vodacom technician appeared in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court on charges of fraud and contravening the Electronic Communications Act. According to The Citizen newspaper, the Vodacom employee, Mbokodana Christopher Khoza, is at the centre of the grift involving R7m. Nedbank, Absa, Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, and KwaZulu-Natal's Ithala Bank number among banks affected.

"But specialist prosecutor, Richard Chabalala, received another docket during the morning for another R3.3m and successfully requested a seven-day postponement as there are suspicions it might be the tip of the iceberg," said The Citizen newspaper. It is suspected that Khoza is involved in a syndicate and intercepted security SMS messages issued to banking clients. Syndicate members would receive the messages and use them to conduct fraudulent online banking transactions.

Costin Raiu, chief security expert at Kaspersky Lab, a company headquartered in Moscow and which has offices worldwide, told Fin24.com the security breach was bound to happen "sooner or later. This incident is, as far as we know, a world first," he said. "[It] only enforces my opinion that SMS-based authentication, while providing a bit better security than simple username-password combos, is outdated and no longer sufficient by itself," said Raiu. The nature of this attack was expected to become a trend in the criminal world as other attempts to intercept security SMSes have been detected", he said. "The solution to this problem is for banks to begin the deploying of better technologies, such as those based on eTokens, which provide superior security," said Raiu. "With these (eTokens), the attacks involving a man in the middle working for the GSM operator are no longer possible," he said.

Generally small enough to fit in a wallet or on car keys, eTokens are physical devices or software used to authenticate users and make use of encryption to deliver codes that identify users. They receive encrypted codes from banking systems used to identify customers.

"So, in the long term the solution rests with the banks," said Raiu. "It is unfortunate that a Vodacom staff member was able to commit fraud working with external gangsters," Vodacom chief communications officer Dot Field said in a statement on Tuesday. "Vodacom has implemented additional security measures to ensure that this type of fraud does not happen again."

Just another NWO trick to do away with money and finally enslave mankind !

Shopping Malls Under Siege From Nigger Gangs

[17/09/2009]

OK, so how big is a gang of robbers ? I would say a gang of robbers are normally about four or five. Not in South Africa. Highly trained and or organised nignog gangs of twenty five, armed to the teeth with military and police assault rifles [R5's stolen from the army], driving around in luxury BMW's and Mercedes's rob Shopping Malls guarded by top security companies.

Just a week ago the new useless "Police Commissioner"MUDbheki Cele, who is suppose to be a hard-ass, shoot first, Dirty Harry type praised the "police" for containing shopping mall robberies. Maybe he just brought it under control ... his control. Hard to tell these days who are criminals in South Africa and who are "police", because the line has been blurred in this crime infested hellhole. His predecessor was the best buddy of the mafia boss, Agliotti.

Yesterday was the turn of Berg Mall in Bergbron, Northcliff [Johannesburg]. I suspect that these robberies are used to arm the revolutionary forces for the final onslaugth against the Whites - remember how the anc robbed otm`s in the Apartheid years to arm MK ?

Bombers Demolish Supermarket

ATM bombers left a wave of destruction when they blew up two city cash machines and destroyed a supermarket during the early hours of yesterday morning. The attacks, which police believe were carried out by former cash-in-transit robbers who have found robbing cash vehicles too risky, come a week after police officers gunned down six would-be cash heist robbers outside Pretoria.

The attacks have raised concerns that those behind heists are turning their attention to ATMs as police step up their actions against robbers targeting cash vans, banks and supermarkets ahead of the festive season. Yesterday's attacks occurred less than 10km apart and within 15 minutes of each other. It is believed that each attack took less than a minute to carry out.

The first bombing occurred when four men, armed with semi-automatic assault rifles and pistols, stormed the Engen Quick Store at Annalin Plaza Motors next to CasBah Roadhouse in Lavender Street. While two of the suspects held up staff and demanded money from the till, the others planted commercial explosives around an FNB ATM inside the shop. The men blew up the safe before they fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The explosion destroyed the ATM and several cooldrink fridges. As police raced to the scene, the bombers allegedly joined their accomplices in Onderstepoort before they attacked the Ellis Supermarket at the Caltex garage in Soutpan Road. Within seconds, the robbers had blown up a heavily fortified security gate and destroyed an ABSA ATM inside the shop. The force of the explosion ripped apart the front of the supermarket and threw sections of the shop's front wall into the garage forecourt. Several walls and metal support structures inside the shop were also destroyed by the blast.

Police attending the first scene, who heard the blasts from the second attack, raced to the supermarket, but when they reached the shop the bombers had fled. Alex Dods, who owns the building occupied by Ellis Supermarket, said he was asleep in his house next door when he was awoken by the blast. "My entire house shook. I thought it was the end of the world. I did not know what was happening," he said.

Dods was greeted by hysterical petrol station attendants when he ran outside to investigate". From what they have told me it was chaos. These thugs came in with big guns and went straight for the shop. They knew exactly what they were doing," he said. Within about 10 seconds the robbers had blown open the security gate, destroyed the ATM and fled with an undisclosed sum of money, he added. Dods said the robbers had left behind R53 000 in destroyed notes.

Both Ellis Supermarket owner Peter Gray and the Engen Garage owner, who asked not to be named, said they would put ATMs back in their store. "What can we do ? This is Africa. We just have to carry on," said a visibly angry Gray. A police source said they believed the attacks were carried out by the same gang. "We believe that while the first attack was taking place a second group from the same gang was preparing for the next attack. We have information which indicates that the suspects are also involved in cash heists. We believe this gang was operating in Pretoria earlier in the year, but was forced to withdraw because of the successes we were having in catching ATM bombers," he said.

Police spokeswoman Mirna von Benecke said those who attacked the Engen Quick Shop had been armed with pistols and rifles. "The suspects held up two petrol attendants and two shop attendants. They then demanded the pin codes to the cash register. When they were given the wrong code they stole the till and then blew up the ATM before they fled in two cars," she said, adding it was not known how much money was taken. Police Inspector Dikatso Thebe said it was not known how much money was taken from the ATM which was blown up in Onderstepoort. No arrests have been made in either case.

About 49 000 Held During Festive Season

Just over 49 000 people were arrested in KwaZulu-Natal during the festive season for crimes including rape, murder and armed robbery, MEC for community liaison Willies Mchunu said on Tuesday [ ... whats going to happen in the festive world cup]. "It is no exaggeration to say these men and women [police officers] made life tough for criminals, and will continue to do so. During the festive season the men and women in blue made a staggering 49 257 arrests," Mchunu said in a statement prepared for delivery.

He was scheduled to read the statement at a media briefing in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday morning, but the event was cancelled at the last minute as the MEC was not feeling well [ ... probably hang-over]. He said 1 222 people had been arrested for rape, 955 for murder, 1 324 for aggravated robbery and 4 595 for drug related crimes. A further 1 275 were arrested for home and business burglaries, 530 for attempted murder and 6 445 for assault with grievous bodily harm.

Police recovered 1 280 stolen cars. Mchunu said a well-coordinated festive season security plan which saw more than 18 000 police officers deployed in a number of hotspot areas and tourist attractions, had resulted in the arrests and also prevented other crimes from being committed. "As businesses shut down policing was also intensified to prevent workers from being robbed of their hard earned bonuses," he said.

Patrols around financial institutions such as banks were intensified due to the increased movement of cash to pay salaries, bonuses and stokvels, he said. "All tourist hotspots were bolstered with extra security presence. Our focus on shopping centres also limited the opportunities for criminal activities," Mchunu said. The festive security plan had also worked well at Durban's beaches where there was an influx of revellers from other provinces and countries.

Police did not tolerate drinking in public. "Durban's Golden Mile was a hive of activity as usual but the additional police presence and uncompromising security measures ensured the safety of beachgoers," he said. Mchunu said he was pleased that a total of 11 898 illegal weapons had been confiscated during the festive season. "This excludes 167 that were confiscated as a result of the current firearms amnesty while 1 606 were handed in voluntarily," he said. The summer holiday road safety plan had centred primarily on aggressive road enforcement.

"A total of 314 506 vehicles were stopped in various roadblocks throughout the province. A total of 10 649 charges were recorded for exceeding the desired speed limit," he said. About 937 motorists were caught for drunk driving. "At least 72 speeders were caught and arrested. About 4 640 motorists were caught driving without a valid driver's licence."

ANCYL Refuses Farm Attack List

Johannesburg - The ANC Youth League refused to accept a list of names of 1 600 farm attack victims which AfriForum youth attempted to hand over on Thursday afternoon. "We regard it as spitting in the face of people who have been murdered in the last couple of years and they [the ANCYL] are making the whole issue of farm attacks ... a cheap topic," AfriForum chairperson Ernst Roets said.

AfriForum youth were complaining about ANC Youth League president julius mudlema singing the song "Dubula amabhunu baya raypha" (Zulu for, 'Shoot the boers, they are rapists) during two public events in the past week. "It is our understanding that the Youth League claims this song should be seen within a political context and that it has no physical or emotional affect on whites or Afrikaners whatsoever," Roets said. [ ... BS; so we can now start singing : clean up the land kill a nigger today !]

AfriForum was therefore providing the list of victims to show that singing the song may have consequences.

"This is not a game of cowboys and crooks. On the ground people are being murdered while julius mudlema is singing and sipping on champagne." Officials from the ANC headquarters of Luthuli House in Johannesburg, complained as Roets spoke to the media outside the building, saying the interview should be conducted elsewhere. Roets said AfriForum youth were determined to continue with their campaign and would still file a complaint with the Equality Court.

Roets and two AfriForum youth companions threatened to paste the lists on the walls of Luthuli House, but after speaking to their lawyers opted not to. ANC officials grew increasingly agitated at the presence of cameras and AfriForum members outside the building. Roets said he would proceed directly to the Equality Court to lay a complaint and would add to it that the Youth League declined to accept the list of 1 600 names. [ ... this shows clearly that the communist are involved in a war to wipe out the Whites in SA ... farm murders being a way to rob land from the Whites and to eventually starve them]
