A worker has been stabbed by an unknown man during a random incident in the western suburbs.

The victim, 42, was performing construction work at a home on Bickford St in Richmond late Tuesday morning when he was stabbed in the stomach.

The man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after being treated at the scene by paramedics.

The wound was reportedly not life threatening.

The suspect was described as of Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his 40s, large build with a receding hair line and goatee

Bassam Hamzy is allowed just one phone call a week, one visit a fortnight - not from a family member - an hour of exercise each day and just five photos on his cell wall.

The 39-year-old's deprived life inside Goulburn Supermax prison was laid bare as he represented himself before the New South Wales District Court on Thursday.

Hamzy has also lost the ability to have board games in his cell, cannot use a toasted sandwich machine or a kettle, and has lost the right to associate with other inmates.

But despite the crackdown on his already limited rights, the ISIS sympathiser has been allowed to keep his religious materials, which include a Koran and a prayer mat
When his face first popped up in the court via video link, Hamzy beamed a smile after noticing the 11 family members who had packed into the court to support him.

At times it appeared the convicted killer was on the verge of losing his composure as his family waved, pulled faces and even took photos of him up on the large screen.

Among the crowd was his father Khaled, who told Daily Mail Australia outside court it was the first time in more than a decade he had seen his son, a moment he described as 'lovely'.

'I haven't seen him for nearly 12 or 13 years,' Mr Khaled, who himself was jailed in the 1990s on drugs charges, said

Hamzy's strict jail conditions were revealed as part of his appeal against a conviction for assaulting a prison officer in August 2017.

That attack saw Hamzy - already regarded as an 'extreme threat inmate' - lose more of his minimal prison privileges.

But in addition to his privileges penalty Hamzy was also convicted externally over the assault in court.

Now the founder of the notorious Sydney gang 'Brothers4Life' claims the sentencing both in and out of prison is 'invalid'.

'If an inmate is punished externally they are not to be charged internally (as well),' he  told the court.

'No other punishment was allowed to be imposed on me... it's an abuse of power.

Majok Aneet, 25, pleaded guilty in the County Court on Friday to the charges relating to a violent Melbourne home invasion in February 2017.

Under amendments to the Migration Act anyone sentenced to more than 12 months prison will immediately have their visa cancelled, The Herald Sun reported.

The court heard that Aneet and his two co-accused smashed their way into an Avondale Heights home, a suburb of Melbourne, and violently stole a laptop and mobile phone. 

His lawyer Jennifer Clarke implored Judge Michael Tinney to consider the risks of deportation when sentencing Aneet, asking that he be sentenced to time served, 220 days, and released on a Community Corrections Order
While Judge Tinney sympathised with Aneet's situation he was clear that he would no refrain from sentencing according to the severity of the offences, the publication reported.

'I'm here to sentence appropriately for the crime that has been committed. If the sentence is greater than 12 months, so be it,' Judge Tinney said.

'Why would anyone think it's appropriate to yank him out of the country is beyond me ... but I'm just the judge passing sentence
Judge Tinney said due to his offending and guilty verdict Aneet was 'looking down the barrel' of deportation from 'the only country he has ever known'.

In a police interview following the incident, Aneet downplayed his involvement, claiming he 'got a lift to a bloke's house and was sleeping in the car' and it was 'just a bunch of friends having a push around.'

He later said he stood by as the other two co-accused committed the violence. 

The court was also told of Aneet's time playing football in Melbourne and finding some success in the lower leagues.

He played in Victoria's Western Jets side and in the reserves for the Werribee VFL squad.

The court also heard that during his time in police custody he struck up a relationship with an inmate who has links to an AFL club who might be able to open doors into the league for Aneet.

Ms Clark said her client had presented only clean urine samples during his time in custody and was looking for a pathway to rehabilitation through football.

So...... he plays footy for a local club and he thinks he deserves to stay?! Deport that Grub!

A gang of African youths armed with a knife have attacked and robbed four teenagers after a wild house party in Melbourne's west last night.

Police were called to a rowdy party in short-stay accommodation at St Clair Ave in Point Cook about 8.40pm.

Guests at the party are suspected of committing the robberies, in which victims were bashed.

Police dispersed more than 100 people, mostly teenagers, at the party without incident.

There was no property damage, police said.

About two hours later, two boys aged 15 and 16 were confronted by five youths armed with a knife in St Clair Avenue.

The two teens were assaulted and a mobile phone, backpack and pair of shoes stolen from them.

The victims were treated at the scene.

Two other teenagers were robbed soon after nearby in The Crescent.

Eight males attacked the pair, one of whom required treatment at hospital for minor injuries.

Police said the offenders in both robberies were described as being of African appearance and are looking into whether they are linked.

"It is believed all involved had recently attended a party at a short-stay rental in Point Cook", police said.
