A Melbourne truck driver and his son actively intervened in a violent robbery scene at a service station in Melbourne's west late at night.


The shocking CCTV footage shows a violent intruder slamming the service station door using a white ute.


Before the intruder could slam enter the service station, a terrified 7-Eleven employee locked himself in the backroom.


CCTV footage shows a brave truck driver entering the scene and fighting off the thug as police arrive on the scene.


Truck driver, Peter said he grabbed the offender's crowbar to fight stop him.


According to The Age Report, truckie felt that the violent attacker was some kind of 'half-robot' who was constantly laughing at him.


"Every time I hit him, he was just laughing at me. He was like a half-robot or something. There was no stopping that kid."


The CCTV footage also shows Policemen trying to stop the young offender after a brief scuffle.


While police were seen chasing attacker's ute on foot, truck driver's son (seen in orange fluoro vest) jumped into the police car to chase the young robber.


Police confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old man who drove into a power pole, a short distance from the 7/11 service station.

WESTS Tigers star Tim Simona has been charged by police after he allegedly ripped off charities to fuel his drug use.

Police have confirmed that a 25-year-old was arrested by the Organised Crime Squad just before 8am this morning and taken to Macquarie Fields police station.

Tim Simona will face court next month.

There, he was charged with one count of gaining benefit by deception and self-bailed to appear in Campbelltown Local Court by April 18.

The NRL has previously inquired into the deceptive sale of signed jerseys for personal profit.

It is alleged Simona purchased Wests Tigers jerseys with his own money.

He would take them to training at Concord Oval and place them on a table outside the dressing room where merchandise is often left to be autographed by the players for fundraisers.

Once they were signed Simona took them home to be auctioned on social media.

He is alleged to have done this up a dozen times and kept the money.

Six teenagers have been charged over a string of alleged armed home invasions across Melbourne's north and west yesterday.

Police allege the gang was armed with a machete, poles and sharp wooden stakes when they raided homes in Caroline Springs and Greensborough between 1am and 4am.

The teenagers also allegedly tried to break into two houses in St Albans and Truganina, but were unable to get inside.

Residents of a Greensborough share house yesterday told 9NEWS the teens stormed their home with wooden stakes and threatened to kill them.

"I heard intense smashing on my front door... They couldn't get in straight away and so I quickly grabbed my phone," resident Jade, 28, said.

"I wasn't quick enough and then five Sudanese men stormed into my room – next to the front door – holding weapons... and were threatening to kill me if I didn't give them money."

Three of the alleged offenders then allegedly smashed into her housemate's room with a machete and stole his phone.

They smashed his TV and swung at him with the machete, Jade said.

The gang allegedly stole car keys, money, and three of the residents' cars – including a red Toyota Hilux and a black Volkswagen - before speeding off and tossing their weapons out the windows.

Police said the gang stole undetermined sum of money and four cars during the alleged robberies.

A 19-year-old Taylors Hill man and 18-year-old Kings Park man faces charges of attempted aggravated burglary, attempted burglary, attempted theft and committing indictable offences while on bail.

They will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court later today.

Three 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy face similar charges, and will appear before a children's court at a later date.
