Extract: An unemployed Aboriginal cleaner and self-described model has admitted stabbing a man in the heart after he rejected her advances at a house party.

Cindy Anne Baker, 23, was at Darwin nightclub Monsoons in January when she met Tyrone Burns and later went to his house to continue drinking, a court heard.

The pair were having a fun night until Baker made advances on Mr Burns, which he turned down before asking her to leave.

Enraged, Baker stabbed Mr Burns in the chest and impaled his heart with a 20cm kitchen knife.

The court heard she accused him of trying to kill her before using the weapon on him. 

She pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court on Tuesday to negligently causing serious harm, which had been downgraded from attempted murder.

Mr Burns required a 'number of high-risk surgeries' to survive.

The poor guy probably didn't want to screw a boong!So she killed him!

SEVENTEEN people have been arrested in a joint police operation that has resulted in the seizure and destruction of almost 500 litres of alcohol believed to be destined for dry NT indigenous communities.

The arrests preceded a police announcement on Friday of an all out blitz on the Territory's rural and remote regions tackling poor driving behaviour, led by units conducting traffic patrols and RBTs in Katherine, Elliott and at various points on the Victoria and Stuart Highways to Mataranka and Tennant Creek.

The 17 arrests were the result of a separate action by the Central Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (CSAID) and Central Traffic Operations and Dog Operations Unit.

Acting Superintendent of the Katherine Division Mark Malogorski said over three days, from August 23-25 police and drug detection dogs made 17 arrests and issued nine summonses for offences on the Victoria and Stuart Highways in Katherine.

Police also issued 57 traffic infringement notices.

Seven were for driving with a prohibited drug in their body and three for low range drink driving.

Twenty-six liquor infringement notices, seven drug infringement notices and defected six cars notices were also issued

Police were disappointed to discover a three-litre bottle of Jack Daniels, a bottle of Hennessy and a bucket of premixed shots purchased by a father instead of purchasing a capsule for his six-day-old child who was travelling in the vehicle he was driving.

"People who continue to drink, or take illicit substances and drive on the road, putting innocent people's lives at risk, need to have a good hard look at themselves.

"Some of the cases included a man, 33, charged with drink driving after being involved in a pursuit with police, who blew 0.208 A woman, 24, charged with drink driving, drive unlicensed and drive with child unrestrained, blew 0.164.

"A man, 39, was charged with drive with prohibited drug in his blood and drive without L plates after testing positive to methamphetamine.

If it was going to Indigenous communities you need a permit to be in, who was bringing it there? Who are known Alcoholics? Too bad decent people have to share the road with dangerous Abos!

The taxi driver, 55, was left shaken when a white SUV pulled over and two people jumped out and threatened him with a shovel at 5am Friday.

He had parked his vehicle on Renner St while waiting to pick up a regular customer to take to work.

Alice Springs Taxis manager Colin Dawson said this was the worst attack he had encountered during his 12 years as a driver and manager.

"This is the first incident where they've robbed the driver physically with a weapon," he said.

Mr Dawson said the duo op­ened the driver and passenger doors and demanded money before hitting the man on the head and taking $80.

The men * black bastards* are described as being of indigenous *protected species faeces* in appearance, both of a skinny build, about 17- or 18-years-old and wearing hooded jumpers.

AN ELDERLY man was attacked after being stopped while driving in Dianella on Tuesday afternoon.

The 74-year-old was travelling west along Yirrigan Drive about 2.45pm when a man crossed the street and stood in the middle of the road, forcing him to stop.

Police said the offender approached the blue coloured Saab before striking it with his hand and verbally threatening the driver.

"When the victim got out of his car to speak with the man, the man *Black animal* assaulted him, hitting him to the face several times," a police spokeswoman said.

NT Police have deployed reinforcement officers to Groote Eylandt communities, Alyangula and Millingimbi, in response to community unrest.

Additional officers were sent to Alyangula yesterday evening to assist local police after a disturbance at the local airport.

A police spokeswoman said people were throwing rocks at police and causing damage to the vehicles during a police drug search

Additional officers were also dispatched to Millingimbi after a group of young men caused damage to a number of vehicles, including a police vehicle, by throwing rocks and firing slingshots at police.

Investigations are ongoing and more information will be provided later today.

NT Police Association president described the attacks as "disgraceful
"These disgraceful attacks on our members again highlight the need for increased sentencing to those who attack our police.

"Our police go out every day to look after our community, and keep us safe, so any attack on those officers should be dealt with by the courts in a manner that sends a clear message to those responsible," he said.

TWO drunk men have been jailed over the terrifying, five-minute robbery of a Nightcliff petrol station which snowballed out of control when one of them tried to shoplift some chocolate bars.

Paul Yunupingu and Wesley Dhurrkay robbed the Coles Express in the early hours of April 4 this year, after Dhurrkay cut off his monitoring device and went on the run from an alcohol rehab centre.

The duo pleaded guilty on Monday in the Darwin Supreme Court to armed robbery, in which Dhurrkay brandished a metal pole and Yunupingu used bottles of soft drink he grabbed from the fridge.

Chief Justice Michael Grant said the robbery was "theft plus violence but it's not The Italian Job".

Crown Prosecutor Hamish Riley said the console operator tried to stop Yunupingu from taking some chocolate bars, only to have magazines thrown at her, be punched in the face and told: "fuck you c*nts, I'm going to kill you all".

He said the robbery became a "dynamic, out of control situation".

He said the public did not fully understand the lack of hope and disempowerment in Aboriginal communities such as the ones Dhurrkay and Yunupingu came from.

Chief Justice Grant said the circumstances of the robbery were "depressingly familiar" and that petrol station robberies caused "great disquiet in the community".

"It was drunken, mindless and chaotic offending," he said.

He said both men had criminal records which showed they had no regard for the law, and that neither had been deterred from offending by the punishments previously meted out by the courts.

He jailed Yunupingu for three years and four months with a 20 month non-parole period, and jailed Dhurrkay for two years and 10 months, with a 17 month non-parole period
