A MAN has been charged with murder following a violent incident at an Aboriginal community in the state's Far West.

Just before 6.20pm on Tuesday police were called to the Yarilena Aboriginal community on Denial Bay Rd, 7km outside Ceduna, after a man was seriously assaulted.

It is understood he suffered critical head wounds and was treated by a police patrol at the scene before ambulance crews arrived.

The 32-year-old man died shortly after being taken to the Ceduna Hospital.

Police arrested a 56-year-old man from the Yarilena Community who was located at the scene and was known to the victim.

The 20-year-old walked free from Downing Centre Local Court on Friday without so much as a conviction for another assault upon police.

Magistrate Erin Kennedy said assaulting police was an 'extremely serious offence' but accepted Clarke had mental health issues and had possibly been self-medicating with illegal drugs.

The worst thing we see happening to wonderful people like you who have a great future ahead of them is if you don't get the proper treatment and you start taking something to self-medicate and we lose you,' Ms Kennedy said.

'Let's not see you back in here.'

Clarke, who was studying environmental science at Sunshine Coast University but now lives in Sydney, has spent much of this year in and out of courts after repeatedly assaulting police.

She is a member of the Butchulla indigenous community on Queensland's Fraser Coast and has previously aspired to organising a festival of her culture.

Clarke claims to suffer from self-diagnosed 'transgenerational trauma' passed down through the indigenous part of her DNA.

Two days before she most recently spat on a policeman she had kneed another officer in the testicles.

The accused has a previous charge for assaulting police and resisting arrest,' a statement of facts about Clarke's latest offence warned.

'At the time of the offence the accused was on bail for similar offences for assaulting police and resisting arrest.'

Police last encountered Clarke when they attended reports of a domestic disturbance at Forest Lodge in the city's inner-west about 1.40am on June 28.

They found Clarke outside a terrace on the footpath in an agitated state and noted she had enlarged pupils.

'Police were at the time of a firm belief that the accused was affected by an illicit substance which may have sent her into a drug-induced mental health episode,' the statement of facts aid.

An ambulance arrived and when officers told Clarke she would be taken to hospital involuntarily under the Mental Health Act she became more aggressive.

'The accused attempted to walk away from police and ambulance officers and started screaming, requesting to speak to an Aboriginal Liaison Officer,' the statement of facts said.

As she was being secured to a stretcher Clarke spat on the shoulder of a policeman.

Two days earlier Clarke had kneed another officer in the testicles and spat at police when she was caught stealing a $7 chicken curry from a 7-Eleven store at Marrickville.

Police at that scene described Clarke's behaviour as highly erratic and unpredictable. She called them 'white dogs'.

In April Clarke pleaded guilty in Queensland's Hervey Bay Magistrates Court to assaulting and obstructing police, drug possession and being a public nuisance.

In March she assaulted a paramedic and screamed 'F*** you, white dogs' after being found asleep outside a shop in Annandale about 4am.

While being restrained in an ambulance she spat on a police officer's forearm

And in January Clarke attacked police and security guards in a Hervey Bay nightclub while dunk, later telling a female officer 'F*** off you s**t'.

Clarke had wanted an adjournment on Friday to seek medical reports but Ms Kennedy said she was ready to sentence her.

'She was clearly having a psychotic episode,' Ms Kennedy said. 'She's getting some help.'

Clarke told the court she had recently completed a hospitality course, having deferred her university studies.

'That all seems amazing but you've got to stay on top of your mental health,' Ms Kennedy said.

'Do not self-medicate. You need suport. Just make sure you say no, you won't take illicit substances.'

Ms Kennedy put Clarke on a 10-month good behaviour bond without recording a conviction.

This bloody "white chocolate" again! Just goes to show that boongs or even these 3/4 caste boongs are a protected species. If I was a repeat offender and did crimes as she did And I organised a White Cultural Festival, you can bet I wouldn't get off Scott Free! A RIOT has erupted at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre and flames and thick smoke has been seen coming from inside the complex.

About 15 police vehicles, including Territory Response vehicles and armed riot police in camouflage gear were on scene at the Berrimah facility on Tuesday night.
A Territory Families spokeswoman said police were sent out to a "disturbance" at the youth detention centre on Tuesday evening.

"A disturbance started at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre at 6.45pm," she said.

"The police have been called and are currently assisting to resolve the situation.
At least five fire service vehicles and a number of ambulances were also called to the scene and a BearCat heavy duty police ram vehicle arrived about 9.30pm, almost three hours after authorities were notified of the disturbance

Witnesses reported seeing flames and thick smoke coming from the facility.

Witnesses also said they could hear screams and yelling from detainees from the facility's boom gate about 100m from the facility throughout the incident

Tear gas had previously been used at the old facility in 2014 helping to spark a royal commission into the NT youth justice system. The tear gassing was later deemed "responsible and necessary" after an investigation.

The NT government has committed $70 million for two new detention centres in Darwin and Alice Springs as part of $229.6 million over the next five years to overhaul the child protection and youth justice systems and implement the recommendations of the royal commission.

Considering the statistic for Abos in Gaol in NT is 86% it is reasonable to assume the majority of trouble were the boongs!

Police allege that a group of four masked men went to a property in Klyn Circuit just after 8.30pm on Wednesday.

Police are seeking help from the public to identify this man who may be able to assist officers with their inquiries into the alleged assault
Senior Sergeant Daniel Whitfield-Jones said one man was armed with a knife while the other three carried lengths of timber.

"The group knocked on the front door of the property and hid in the darkness until a man at the residence came outside," he said.

"The men then repeatedly struck the victim with their weapons before fleeing to a waiting car in a nearby street and speeding away."

The victim suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

"We're told the four men were all of a similar height, around 175 and 180cm tall, of medium build and wearing long sleeved shirts, balaclavas and gloves," he said
"The car they fled in is described as a small, white hatchback or SUV, but we're not sure what make it is."

STABBINGS in Central Australia's tourist capital Alice Springs have reached epidemic proportions, and traditional Aboriginal thigh spearing is being blamed.
Surgeons at Alice Springs Hospital say the town is in crisis, with the number of stab injuries, blunt force injuries, bone breaks and burns admissions rising.

The town now reports the highest rate of stabbings in the world, with 390 incidents for every 100,000 people.

Most concerning, say the medics, is that almost 40 per cent of the stabbings were thigh injuries most likely meted out by Aboriginal elders as traditional punishment.

The practice, designed to settle grievances, is performed by elders who "have a deep knowledge of human anatomy and are skilled at spearing the femoral artery with deft accuracy," Dr Abraham Jacob wrote in a report published in the latest ANZ Journal of Surgery.

The study shows 16 of the 605 Aborigines admitted with thigh stab wounds between 1998 and 2005 were dead on arrival.

"We found a significant and particular pattern of traditional stab injuries," Dr Jacob said.

"Medial thigh injury to kill, posterior thigh to permanently disable and lateral thigh to punish."

Contrary to anecdotal reports, women were just as likely to be subjected to the practice as men, and the location was town camps and homes, not streets or pubs as previously thought.

Alcohol played a role in 30 per cent of stabbing admissions
About 20 per cent of the victims were admitted with stab wounds more than once, and in the same number of cases the victim absconded before they had completed treatment.

Dr Jacob and his colleagues said the study was the first to reveal the extent of injury and death due to traditional spearing, saying it adds to the town's growing poor statistics.

"Alice Springs has been given the title of the crime capital of Australia, and its town camps have been described as a 'sea of despair' with conditions similar to South African ghetto townships," Dr Jacob said.

The camps' population was expected to double in the next five years, speeding up already increasing rates of injury and death.

"Central Australia's tourist capital is in crisis," he said

Being a decade old report, Alice springs tourism industry has been lost because now they built an Airport at Ayres rock and the tourists don't bother much coming now since the Abos demanded White people stop climbing their dirty rock they call Uluru, so the industry in Alice is Abo welfare. Also the trouble they make powers it's economy.

Statistically there are more stabbings there than in a third world area.
