THE Federal Government is defending a decision to house 79 asylum seekers in a four-star Queensland motel, saying they are vulnerable families with children.
"We don't think they should ever be put behind razor wire," Small Business Minister Craig Emerson told Sky News on Tuesday. The Palms Motel in suburban Brisbane reportedly has been awarded a $1.2 million government contract for at least six months to accommodate the group.

A private security guard has been employed to protect them and other guests, the Nine Network said.

"These are very vulnerable families with children and it's something that needs to be done on a short-term basis," Dr Emerson said.

The measure did not happen all the time, but it had occurred under the previous Howard government, he said.
"Let's just have a little bit of space."

Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison acknowledged the practice was not new, but said the latest move was due to an upsurge in boat arrivals.

"It happens when all of your detention centres are full," he said.

"That's why people are in motels."

The government's asylum-seeker policy was out of control, Mr Morrison said, adding 16 boats had arrived since Labor announced it was suspending new claims by Sri Lankan and Afghan boat arrivals.

Family First senator Steve Fielding says the move will only encourage more unauthorised boat arrivals.

"First it was Hotel Christmas Island, now it's Hotel Queensland," he said in a statement.

"There is no way we should be detaining asylum seekers in hotels because it just gives the people smugglers an extra selling point."

The immigration department says the group is under 24-hour "monitoring and guarding".

"They're not allowed to come and go," spokesman Sandy Logan said.

"They've all been through full security and health checks before being transferred from Christmas Island."

Mr Morrison says the department should have consulted the local community about its plan.

Doing so would have taken the heat out of some of the reaction to the move, he said

They are certainly living better than no doubt everyone on this forum and most White people in Australia. No wonder they keep on coming. Who wouldn't when you get treated like a king for nothing and this is only just the start of their free ride? We are fools for putting up with this sh!t. I reckon all of us here should grow beards and somehow get to Indonesia and get hold of a boat and when picked up claim racism to get treated the same.

BTW, they are guaranteed public housing, if White families need housing they are told to sleep to their car.

ScottHarrison

The detention centres should never be full, because boat people shouldn't have the incentive to arrive here in the first place. If our Government weren't traitors, they would have made it very clear to the world a long time ago that any illegal coming here will not make it to the mainland, period. We have a regulated method of migrating to this country and this should be enforced - of course, muds need not apply.

The government sits on their hands while 100,000 Australians sleep homeless each night, many of them being White. The illegal immigration issue is one that the vast majority of Australians want to see dealt with by a strong government that will put our interests first. Creativity has the complete program for dealing with illegals and it is indeed, the only solution.

Stop the illegals by any means necessary and close the borders to ALL non-White immigration!

JULIA Gillard's hopes of stopping the people-smuggling trade by sending unsuccessful asylum-seekers home are in disarray because of court appeals.

About 90 per cent of failed refugees have had their decisions overturned on appeal.
[We can only expect that some of those who were refused by immigration but later allowed in by the courts are the Islamic fundamentalists that end up in our communities promoting Sharia Law.]

As authorities intercepted another asylum boat carrying 52 people, the opposition claimed the Gillard government was planning a massive expansion of the Curtin detention centre.

Brandishing a plan of the Curtin facility which he said came from a contractor involved in the job, opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison said plans were under way to expand the facility to hold up to 3000 people. However, Ms Gillard said suggestions Curtin would be enlarged to cater for that many is "simply not true" and there were "no secret plans".

Opposition to Ms Gillard's proposal for an East Timor regional processing centre also deepened, with East Timor's defence chief, Brigadier General Lere Anan Timor, and one of Dili's most senior Catholic clerics, condemning the proposal.

Speaking in Perth, the Prime Minister said a re-elected Labor government would stop boats leaving foreign shores.

"We've got to take away any incentive to get on a boat," Ms Gillard said. "That's what the regional processing centre is about."
[Even if the boats are stopped, most of our "refugees" and other migrants come in planes. Boat or plane, they're still not welcome.

Ms Gillard's comments followed reports in The Australian on Tuesday that people-smugglers were now operating as far afield as India in order to beat a crackdown by Sri Lankan and Australian authorities.

But with just three days till the election, it appears the majority of failed asylum-seekers are having unfavourable decisions overturned.

The Australian has been told that 88 per cent of Afghan asylum-seekers had their refusals overturned on appeal.

The figure was based on about 14 cases, but is consistent with the experience of refugee lawyers contesting negative decisions on behalf of clients.

One well-placed source said the actual figure was higher, saying "more than 40" Afghan cases had been heard on appeal, with more than 90 per cent being overturned.

Unsuccessful boatpeople can appeal against their decisions through a merits review process. Set up by the Rudd government to ensure decision-making integrity, it has only recently begun handing down decisions.
Guess who is paying these lawyers? You and I, the taxpayer! Every single case, costing tens of thousands of dollars, is paid by the taxpayer to end up allowing criminals to remain here!!

In one of her first major speeches as Prime Minister in July, Ms Gillard foreshadowed mass deportation of failed asylum-seekers as a way of stemming the smuggling trade, pointing out that the refusal rate of the previous month had exceeded 70 per cent.

The Immigration Department says it has developed new country information for Afghanistan, which shows an improvement in conditions, a claim questioned by experts who say that if anything the situation has deteriorated.

The department has repeatedly refused to release the information, despite promising to do so in April.

Afghans comprise the largest single category of asylum-seekers, with more than 3800 having arrived since late 2008.
The JOG send us to war with these people because they "hate our freedoms," then the JOG lets them migrate here... Do they suddenly become civilised when they arrive in Australia? No, they are a primitive breed of human and haven't improved their lot in thousands of years.

One lawyer who asked not to be named, said that so far all of the clients on the firm's books had been successful on appeal.

"Basically so far for us it's a full set-aside rate," the lawyer said.

"We haven't had any negative decisions." Other refugee lawyers told a similar story, with one confirming the the set-aside rate was "over 90 per cent".

The high rate of overturn follows a decision by the immigration department to drop the success rate for Afghan asylum claims from over 95 per cent to less than 30 per cent in the space of just six months.

In April former prime minister Kevin Rudd suspended all new Afghan asylum claims for six months.

Yesterday, a spokesman for the department refused to confirm the high overturn rate.

Nor would the spokesman say what the actual overturn rate is, or even how many cases were currently before reviewers.

On Christmas Island yesterday, a well-practised team brought 50 asylum-seekers and their two Indonesian crew ashore yesterday morning in less than an hour.

The Iranian families -- intercepted by HMAS Wollongong the previous night -- were ferried to the jetty in four barge trips and boarded buses bound for detention at 9am time (12pm AEST).

Among the group were four women and several small children.

Their arrival brings the total number of people in detention on Christmas Island to 2451, slightly under official capacity.

The Judges in these cases are race traitors (if not Jews) and will their day will come. I'm not a expert in the matter but I'm guessing that the Immigration Department are a lot more strict on who is allowed in, expecting a higher burden of proof that the invader is a "legitimate" asylum seeker. However, it then goes to court, where all the judge needs to do is decide on "a balance of probabilities" that it's likely the sandnigger will be killed in his country - of course the court will rule in the muds favour every time.

More driven to sew lips shut
Debbie Guest From:The Australian November 23, 2010

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/more-driven-to-sew-lips-shut/comments-e6frg13u-1225959159320

AN Iraqi man detained on Christmas Island has attempted suicide and more asylum-seekers are sewing their lips shut.

The protests are in response to what asylum-seekers say are inhumane delays in processing their cases.

There were reports yesterday that about 20 asylum-seekers had stitched their lips together, with another 230 on a hunger strike at the island's main detention centre.

The protest comes as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship said detained asylum-seekers, including the 2827 at Christmas Island, had been told on the weekend that a recent landmark High Court decision meant they would now have access to judicial review if their cases were refused by the department.

A department spokesman said that asylum-seekers would also soon receive letters informing them of their new rights.

He refused to say how many were taking part in the lip-sewing protest but confirmed that the number of self-harm incidents had increased since the 10 cases reported on Friday.

A spokesman for the department refuted claims by a refugee advocate that 230 were on a hunger strike and said the number was actually 150, although some were drinking and eating sugar.

"DIAC staff have explained that their actions will not alter the outcome or accelerate the time necessary to assess those claims," he said.

Comment:

It might be happening today, but it's old news. Goes on all the time. What is news is that an overwhelming amount of Australians are waking up and rejecting the muds. Read the comments:

Asylum seekers luxury rewards
Glenn Cordingley Paul Lampathakis From:The Sunday Times April 23, 2011

Luxury Tourist Resort or an Inhuman Racist Prison?

ASYLUM seekers who sign up for art classes and play sport while in detention in WA are earning "reward points", which they can cash in for luxuries such as automated nose-hair trimmers, cigarettes and chocolate.

The luxuries are costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars a year.

Detainees in Australia, including those in WA, are entitled to claim battery-operated grooming gadgets, cigarettes, phone cards, snacks and confectionery by using reward points earned while playing soccer, volleyball and table tennis, and attending English and art lessons.

It comes as another two boats carrying suspected asylum seekers were intercepted by Australian authorities on Friday, one northwest of Christmas Island, believed to have 50 passengers, and another, which arrived on Cocos Island with 81 passengers.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship this week confirmed that the Christmas Island centre had recently received a bulk delivery of taxpayer-funded nose-hair trimmers.

The department refused to say how much they cost, but sources told The Sunday Times the figure was about $7000.

Insiders at Curtin Immigration Detention Centre, 40km southeast of Derby, said a recent shipment of cigarettes intended for detainees was worth about $10,000. A spokesman for Immigration and Citizenship Minister Chris Bowen refused to say how much the Federal Government spent on detainees' cigarettes, but did not rule out that the Curtin shipment cost as much as $10,000.

A department spokeswoman said detention services contractor SERCO supplied a range of personal items for clients to buy using the points system, which applied in canteens in all Australian immigration detention facilities.

The spokeswoman could not say how many points were needed to buy the clippers.

Meanwhile, Deputy Opposition Leader Julie Bishop yesterday said she was "deeply concerned" by reports there would be continued outbreaks of violence and protests at Australia's detention centres, with authorities and police short of resources to deal with further unrest.

I was devo'd when I saw them burning the buildings provided for them. It doesn't matter what they burn though cos the govt will just provide more for them. It's so depressing :(

It's becoming difficult to find the news articles about the recent riots by illegals without an intensive search. The reason of course is that the media did their job, published the news and now they are part of the process of cover up and force the average idiot to feel sorry that the poor victimised refugees had to set fire to their buildings just to gain attention. It won't work!

ASYLUM seekers protesting on detention centre roofs should be forcibly removed, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has said.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/national/abbott-backs-use-of-force/story-e6frea8c-1226045952134

As vigils by several asylum seekers continue at Villawood and on Christmas Island, Mr Abbott called for the Government to act.

But Immigration Minister Chris Bowen said it would not be appropriate for him to order authorities to kick protesters off a roof because it could endanger lives.

Mr Abbott told 2GB radio that it was not good enough for the Government to try to ignore protests in detention centres.

"You can't have a situation ... where people are acting in consistent defiance of legitimate authority and these protests have to be ended," Mr Abbott said.

"It just has to be sorted out and I think that the problem is that the Government is just not strong enough to do it."

Rioting detainees may get second chance

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/national/rioting-detainees-may-get-second-chance/story-e6frea8c-1226045820570

TROUBLE-makers in immigration detention centres could still have a chance of getting permanent residency in Australia, the government admits.

On Christmas Island, six detainees are currently holding rooftop protests and a separate group is on hunger strike.

Three male protesters have started their second week on top of Sydney's Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.

And a group of 50 Afghan detainees at the Curtin facility in WA has just ended a hunger strike.

Immigration Minister Chris Bowen yesterday announced legal changes to deter violent unrest.

Under the proposed changes to migration law, refugees found guilty of a crime while in detention would automatically fail a character test and may be denied a permanent visa.

Amnesty International refugee spokesman Dr Graham Thom said Labor's new policy was a knee-jerk reaction to the detention centre riots.

Dr Thom disagreed with the view that detainees convicted of an offence should automatically fail the character test, making it almost impossible to access a permanent protection visa.

"I've seen it time and time again with my work. Asylum seekers arrive at detention centres grateful and optimistic, but as the months or years go by they break, becoming depressed, resorting to self harm or lashing out," he said.

"The recent violence at Villawood and Christmas Island is not excusable - but it's not surprising, either."

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/minister-in-dark-about-homemade-bomb-found-at-the-villawood-detention-centre/story-fn59niix-1226049918070

IMMIGRATION Minister Bowen has demanded answers from his department after it failed to tell him a homemade incendiary device had been discovered at Sydney's Villawood detention centre...

The device, believed to have been made from a can of flyspray and canola cooking oil, was found by police after a suspicious fire in a computer room at the detention centre on Saturday, March 19.

The fire came a month before the April 20 riot at Villawood in which nine rooms were gutted and damage caused worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The issue today sparked an on-air brawl between Immigration Minister Chris Bowen and 2GB presenter Ray Hadley, who revealed the discovery. ...

Hadley accused the Department of Immigration and Citizenship of being "as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike".

Desperate plea from Inverbrackie

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/desperate-plea-from-inverbrackie/story-e6frea6u-1226059991178

Doug Robertson From:The Advertiser May 21, 2011

BROKEN-HEARTED asylum seeker Nagham Jaderi says life inside Inverbrackie Detention Centre is destroying her soul and causing enormous emotional stress for her family.

In a moving appeal yesterday from behind the iron fence of the former army barracks, near Woodside, Ms Jaderi, 22, says that while other asylum seekers are welcomed into the wider community, her family's plight has been lost in a maze of bureaucracy.

She said the health of her Kurdish father, 52, who has diabetes, mother, 39, and younger siblings is steadily declining.

With a soft voice and rudimentary English, the Iranian-born Ms Jaderi's whispered plea to Immigration Department officials is to "listen to my story".

Her desperate call for action follows six months at the centre and about a year of frustration since the family arrived at Christmas Island on June 26.

She said her family - her parents, two brothers and a young sister - fled persecution in Iran.

They are simply looking for a better life in a country with a reputation for understanding and compassion for refugees.

"Please help me," Ms Jaderi said.

"Australia has a reputation in all the world for human rights claims, but I don't see anything. I want the Australian Government to listen to my story. I don't see any justice here. My family is sick in Inverbrackie.

"We saw this country with a lot of hope. We came to this land for someone to protect us, and to make a future - not to lose our future."

Ms Jaderi's father, Hassan, left Iraq before she was born to protect his family, but found mostly religious persecution and ended up a falafel street vendor.

The Jaderis spent three months on Christmas Island and the same period in Darwin before being transferred to Inverbrackie.

She is unable to leave the centre, passing her time with English lessons, sewing and 30 minutes a day on the internet, plus in the company of other detainees.

But hope fades when other asylum seekers come and go while the Jaderis wait for their visa application to be reviewed.

"These families come and in two or three months they get visas. It makes us very sad," said Ms Jaderi, who arrived at Inverbrackie on November 18. "There were some people who were not in this detention centre on 18/11/2010. They weren't even in Australia, but now they have freedom and fresh air.

"My father ... listens about these families who get visas and go out and when he comes in (our) house he is upset, angry and he can't eat or take his medication.

"The medication is very important for my dad because he has diabetes. I've never seen my mum sick, but since we've been here she has been for an operation - it's stress, all stress.

"My brother (19) can't sleep at night because he is upset and ... he has lost 7kg."

Ms Jaderi said life behind the centre's fence was strictly controlled. She said that, unable to leave the centre, the emotions grew heavy in her heart.

"I always go to the office to see if (Immigration officials) have an appointment for us, but there's always regret," she said.

An Immigration spokesman said the time of review depended on the complexity of each application, rather than first come, first served.

"There are some complex cases requiring more investigation than others," he said.

"Non-citizens, irrespective of the country of origin or ethnicity, have to meet stringent health, character, identity and national security requirements before a visa grant is considered."

In March, two Iranian children - a girl, 3, and boy, 8 - who asserted the Inverbrackie centre had worsened their emotional state were moved with their parents to community housing in NSW.

They had earlier filed a Federal Court action asking to be released from the centre because the children were "sad and traumatised".

Leaked reports and tips from Inverbrackie Serco staff have provided the first taste of some of the violent events that have occurred there in recent months.

Comments and speculation suggest similar events are happening almost daily as tensions rise along with the population of Inverbrackie - now at 321 after an extra 33 asylum seekers were moved there from Christmas Island.

A staff register from Friday, April 8, shows seven staff from the 47 named on the Serco daily running sheet were listed as injured. Two more were listed as sick, one of them understood to have been out of work for at least six weeks having been concussed and suffering from a perforated eardrum during a clash with a 12-year-old boy.

The incident reports detail a standoff between a refugee family and staff - in the family's home on March 24 and the perceived rough handling of a child detainee by a security officer on April 7. That officer was listed as "injured" the next day and the client welfare manager who attended the March 24 incident also was listed as injured on April 8.

The long-term injured officer is understood to have been a trainee who stepped in to calm a child trying to go to school on the bus. It is believed the headwear of the boy's mother was knocked from her head in the commotion, sending the child into a rage against the security officer.

Media banned

Immigration spokesman Sandy Logan explained the media would not be granted access to any detention facility and personnel were directed to take steps to protect the privacy of detainees - in part to prevent the chance of them using media exposure to boost their claims for asylum.

Members of the Department's media team took it upon themselves to outline the ethics of the media descending on Inverbrackie.

"They [the illegal muds] are not in a circus for you to get stories for your newspaper," media spokesman Michael Corkhill said during a phone call he made to The Advertiser  this week.

(My Comment) Sick of the lies Posted at 1:34 AM Today

Liar! Inverbrackie is a community just like any other - be it in the Western Suburbs of Sydney or in the country. And being in the country the air is not polluted and there is no noise pollution. There is no gate keeping them in, only a boom to raise and lower for cars while people can and do walk past. Fences are chest high in places and others are the same dilapidated waist high fences that were there when the area was used as an army married quarters. If these recently upgraded and fully furnished homes were once good enough for the families of soldiers prior to the upgrade and unfurnished, then they are good enough for the likes of her. Send the ungrateful so and so back home and I will gladly move into Inverbrackie!

Where is my visa and my house? - the first question asylum seekers ask
Gemma Jones in Darwin The Daily Telegraph December 17, 2011

A 21-year-old Hazari asylum seeker who recently arrived from Pakistan after paying people smugglers $4000 in Indonesia said he knew the Malaysia deal had collapsed and that he had an expectation of receiving a visa.

"The country of Malaysia is not good. If this was possible (being sent to Malaysia) then I would be back home, not in Malaysia," he said while doing laundry in accommodation area where asylum seekers sleep two to a room in airconditioned converted shipping containers.

It is understood the top three questions being asked by those who have arrived since the government announced bridging visas for asylum seekers last month was "when will I get a visa", "a house" or "access to the internet".

Arrivals who were last week flown to the new centre - which was housing 210 detainees as of yesterday - had specific expectations about their detention accommodation and had gripes about the lack of facilities.

Detainees complained that the centre's 40 computers were not enough and four English classes were insufficient.

A 34-year-old Iranian engineer said he paid $15,000 to people smugglers in the Middle East and used multiple fake passports before boarding a boat in Indonesia.

He said people smugglers offered to take him to France or Australia but he decided reaching Australia was "easier".

"In my country I have a house and a car (but) I had one problem. I had to leave my country, some people could kill me," he said. [more ...]

Albert

The whole subject disgusts me! The judges giving reprieves to the illegals are jews, just as their lawyers are jews. They get rich, help destroy the White race and pollute Australia..potentially the wealthiest, most fertile and last great bastion of the White Race. Australia produces 25% of the worlds food but has 0.01 of the worlds population meaning the main Australian global industry is feeding the muds of the world.
This has to stop! Feeding and breeding the muds of the world is killing the planet. They should be left to starve.

How are White people treated in all the mud countries these sewer rats are escaping from?
Answer..they are killed, murdered and raped....and when these muds come to the white world they take it over and do the same..they rape, rob and kill and drive out the White race..just as they have done in cities like London, Birmingham and manchester in England..or Washington, Chicago and Detroit in the USA.

Rev.Cambeul

And how do these poor, dispossessed victims of inhuman treatment actually get to Australia?

I'm glad you asked.

They first withdraw the thousands of dollars they need from a bank account in their home country. Then with passport in hand, they freely board a flight for Indonesia. Once arriving, they live off their own means and have the capability to work to earn a living. These poor and dispossessed then pay thousands of dollars for a short voyage to Australia in a leaky fishing vessel - making sure to destroy all evidence of their previous existence (passports, visas, birth certificates, et al) in an often successful effort to con Australian authorities into granting them permanent residency.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/immigration/lost-at-sea-37-of-3237-boatpeople-had-passports/story-fn9hm1gu-1226256747251

"Of the 3237 asylum-seekers who admitted to flying to Indonesia on a passport, 3200 did not have any travel documents when they arrived in Australia."

Australians wait twenty and more years for public housing, are lucky to maintain a job or obtain a meagre unemployment benefit, and poor access to health services. Muds are granted it all on arrival and given a healthy handout on top of that.

Who rules Australia? With the recent violent attacks on Australia's political leaders and the thousands giving the Black Power! salute while chanting their demands, the question must be asked ... who rules Australia? Because it sure in hell is not the White man any more.

Perhaps somebody should ask Prime Minister Ju-Liar Gillard when she addresses the Australia Israel Chamber of Commerce later this week? http://www.aicc.org.au

Pay for our trips home - the Islamic Women's Welfare Association

NEW migrants should get taxpayer subsidies to visit overseas relatives, an Islamic group has told the Federal Government.

The Islamic (Women's) Welfare Association [in Lakemba, NSW] also says Muslims prefer to live close to their own people and Australia should consider how to "facilitate the purchase of homes for new migrants".

In a submission to a federal multicultural inquiry, the association has urged the Government to give tax deductions to newly arrived migrants so they can visit relatives in their homelands.

"Migrants face a lot of sacrifices such as having to travel long distances to visit relatives, spending on communication costs, missing out on some events occurring in native countries etc," the submission said.

"This loss should be compensated by the Government in one way or the other to retain migrants in their country of adoption."

Welcome, asylum seekers - Chris Bowen and Julia Gillard's ship of fortune

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/national/welcome-asylum-seekers-chris-bowen-and-julia-gillards-ship-of-fortune/story-e6freuzr-1226273201568

WASHING machines, microwave ovens, DVDs and plasma TVs are among a 60-item welcome gift pack for asylum seekers offered rent-free homes in the community.

To fulfil a promise to move an influx of families out of detention, the Gillard Government is now fitting out each home with up to $10,000 [approximately 12 months worth of unemployment benefit for the average White Australian] worth of furnishings and electronics.

They are given food hampers upon arrival at rented homes where they wait for their claims to be processed...

Everything from beds, fridges, mattresses and lounges to an alarm clock radio, clothes hangers and containers for biscuits are being bought in a "household goods formation package" that contains more than 60 items.

It includes a television at a minimum size of 53cm.

An average family of five is eligible for $7100 worth of goods, while larger families of more than nine people can be provided with up to $9850 in furnishings, the Opposition has revealed after Senate estimates this week.

Special consideration is given to providing computers, internet access, mobile phones, bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, iPods, games consoles and sewing machines. [more ...]

In some years up to 62 per cent of asylum seekers have initially had their asylum claims rejected by Department of Immigration Officials.

But after they go through extensive - and expensive - taxpayer-funded reviews, up to 90 per cent are allowed to stay.

SOS from asylum seeker boat for Navy 'taxi'

By Samantha Maiden | The Sunday Telegraph | August 26, 2012

PASSENGERS on an asylum seeker boat just 23 nautical miles off Indonesia telephoned in an SOS to Australia to organise a Navy transfer to Christmas Island.

Amid ... claims asylum seekers are using the Navy as a "water taxi" service, officials confirmed yesterday that HMAS Melville was en route to Christmas Island with 80 suspected asylum seekers after they phoned Australian officials fearing they were lost off Indonesia and needed assistance....

Australian Maritime Safety Authority has told The Sunday Telegraph the vessel was first pinpointed just 23 nautical miles or around 40 kilometres off Indonesia on Thursday morning.

Indonesia told Australian officials it had a search and rescue vessel available but it could not be despatched due to bad weather. They asked Australia to send in air surveillance.

Bashings, self-harm and crimes are being committed by asylum seekers in Australia's immigration detention centres

AUSTRALIA'S immigration detention centres have been exposed as often lawless, violent, high-tension facilities.

Rape and sexual assault claims, mass breakouts, home-made alcohol, weapons, hunger strikes and a high number of attempted suicides and self-mutilations feature in confidential security reports.

... assaults against security staff ... assaults between detainees ... Interracial rivalry ... In one attack, the immigration Ombudsman was grabbed around the neck ...

... contraband ranging from "tools of escape", passports, pornography, knives and fermenting fruit for home-made alcohol.

... razor blades concealed within their mouths or hidden in clothing or bedding.

Monash University researcher Adrienne Millbank said most detainees did not leave quietly if their refugee claims were rejected.

"It's part of the strategy and tactics that are used to get the support of advocates and to get release from detention into the community and then to get a visa," she said. [more ...]

Rev.Cambeul

"Take us to Australia" is the cry from the survivors of yet another boat load of illegal aliens sunk on its way to Australia. Fortunately, the unseaworthy fishing trawler sank just 20 km's from Indonesia's coastline, leaving 100 dead. Although rescued by an Australian vessel, all 54 survivors were returned to Indonesia despite their pleas to be taken to Australia.

And for all you do-gooder libtards out there in tears over these ... deaths, remember that they each paid $5,000 for passage on that leaky trawler. And prior to that, they each paid for their own airfares and flew in from their home nations, before destroying their passports and other identification in Indonesia. I call that Natural Justice.

None of these boat-people should have ever been referred to as refugees. They are wealthy third world tourists with their eyes fixed on a first world nation. If they have the funds to travel via the  migratory route of the typical holidayer, then one would probably be correct in assuming that these so-called refugees still have bank accounts at home, brimming with cash that you can only dream about. I'd like to see the study that proves otherwise.
