Unfortunately our enemies doesn't only want to destroy our race but they also want to destroy our history. Their plan is to totally eliminate/demonize anything White. And they won't be happy till they achieve it.

Charlottesville Scraps Thomas Jefferson Holiday For Day Observing End Of Slavery

A new Freedom and Liberation Day recognizing slaves’ emancipation in Charlottesville will replace Jefferson’s birthday as a city holiday.

Instead of celebrating Thomas Jefferson’s birthday as an official city holiday, Charlottesville, Virginia, will hold a day of recognition and remembrance for the emancipation of enslaved Black people.

The city council decided in a 4-1 vote Monday to scrap the city holiday celebrating Jefferson’s birthday every year on April 13, according to The Associated Press. The third president and author of the Declaration of Independence left a strong legacy in Charlottesville, where he founded the University of Virginia. He also owned slaves there.

Councilwoman Kathy Galvin was the only member to vote against the motion.

“Doing away with Thomas Jefferson’s birthday doesn’t do away with the history,” Galvin said, according to local outlet CBS19 News. “That birthday is still here. What he has done in the past is there.”

The new Freedom and Liberation Day will replace Jefferson’s birthday as a city holiday. It will be celebrated every year on March 3, the day slaves were officially emancipated in Charlottesville at the end of the Civil War in 1865. The decision to declare a new holiday passed in a separate, unanimous vote.

Charlottesville has been at the heart of debates over racism in the past few years. In 2017, the Southern city was host to the “Unite the Right” rally in which hundreds of white nationalists paraded through the city, ostensibly to protest the removal of a Confederate statue. A white supremacist who attended the rally killed counterprotester Heather Heyer and injured more than two dozen others when he drove his car into a crowd.

$600,000 dollars to erase White History. This comes from a sanctuary sh!thole city that has a huge homeless problem, to the point that they have maps to point out where human excrement is on their streets. They need to leave our history alone and take that money to help fix the real problems that their progressives government have made.

San Francisco to paint over historic George Washington mural

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco will spend up to $600,000 to paint over historical artwork at a public school depicting the life of George Washington, a mural once seen as educational and innovative but now criticized as racist and degrading for its depiction of black and Native American people.

The “Life of Washington” was painted by Victor Arnautoff, one of the foremost muralists in the San Francisco area during the Depression. The San Francisco School Board’s decision to paint over the 83-year-old mural is prompting some to worry that other artwork from the so-called New Deal era could face a similar fate because of changing sensitivities.

In addition to depicting Washington as a soldier, surveyor and statesman, the 13-panel, 1,600-sqaure foot mural at George Washington High School contains images of white pioneers standing over the body of a Native American and slaves working at Washington’s Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.

The board’s decision last week comes at a time when the legacies of Washington and other historical figures who owned slaves are being re-examined. Some cities have changed the names of streets and buildings named after slave owners.

Richard Walker, a professor emeritus of geography at the University of California, Berkeley and director of the history project, Living New Deal, said the Washington mural is meant to show the “uncomfortable facts” about America’s first president. For that, it was among many New Deal works of art considered radical when created.

“We on the left ought to welcome the honest portrayal,” Walker said, adding that destroying a piece of art “is the worst way we can deal with historic malfeasance, historic evils.”

Mark Sanchez, vice president of the school board and a third-grade teacher, said students who must walk past the mural during the school day don’t have a choice about seeing the harmful images. “Painting it over represents not only a symbolic fresh start, but a real fresh start,” he said.

Lope Yap, Jr., vice president of the Washington High School Alumni Association and a 1970 graduates, disagreed, saying when he was a student and saw the mural he was “awed by the subtle ways Arnautoff was able to critique American history.” He said the depictions are “treasures, priceless art” and painting it over is tantamount to pretending the history depicted never happened.

“I’m not into censorship,” Yap said. “I would want to deal with history so we can prevent this from ever happening again.”

The mural is a fresco, which means it’s painted on the wall and can’t easily be removed. Painting it over won’t happen immediately. Should a lawsuit or other delay arise, it will be covered up until the issues are resolved. The board plans to digitally archive the mural.

Most of the $600,000 earmarked for the project will go toward a required environmental review and to cover expected legal challenges.

George Washington High School has about 2,000 students. Nearly all are people of color and many come from low-income families. As early as the 1960s, some students argued the mural’s imagery is offensive and racist. Renewed opposition emerged in recent years amid protests in the South and elsewhere over statues honoring Confederate heroes.

Arnautoff, a Russian-born communist and social critic, was hired with Federal Art Project funds as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal, a series of government programs meant to help lift the country out of the Great Depression of the 1930s.

He was one of a group of artists to paint murals at San Francisco’s Coit Tower that prompted anti-communists to delay the tower’s opening. Arnautoff’s piece, called “City Life,” shows urban workers crowding around a newsstand of socialist newspapers and magazines. The piece faced criticism for failing to include the conservative-leaning San Francisco Chronicle.

“Victor Arnautoff was far ahead of his time, and we have yet to catch up with him in terms of making school curriculum more inclusive and historically accurate,” said Harvey Smith, president of the National New Deal Preservation Association.

Walker and other supporters of the mural worry that painting over it may signal that it’s acceptable to destroy the thousands of other New Deal murals across the country. Activists have been successful in getting a series of New Deal murals at the University of New Mexico covered up. Other New Deal murals in New York and Iowa have been vandalized, as well as painted over and subsequently restored.

“The mural is an immense public treasure during one of the few periods of American history where you had the federal government supporting public art, public spaces, public goods,” Walker said. “It’s been the right that has always attacked the New Deal with its social programs.”

Walker suggested rather than destroying the Washington mural, school officials should simply cover it and require freshmen to take a course on slavery and California’s role in subjugating Native Americans.

To Sanchez, that’s not enough.

“I understand the importance of art, and it should be the last thing we do, to attempt to cover any kind of art up,” he said. “The starting point has to be from those who feel they are harmed and how that is unacceptable, especially given the history of this country. When we don’t listen, we don’t learn.”

'I Have A Dream' Newtown mural to be heritage listed

One of Sydney's most infamous street murals will be preserved following a historic decision by the Marrickville Council to heritage list it.

It's a decision original artist Juilee Pryor calls "brave" and "extraordinary

The "I Have A Dream" mural on King St in Newtown was created during a weekend in August 1991. Ms Pryor and Andrew Aiken, who later served a jail sentence in the UK for murder and now lives in Canada, had twice asked for permission to paint it but were refused. So they decided to do it anyway.

They decided the best way to conceal themselves was by hiding in plain view. Starting at 7pm on Friday night, they worked into the night and continued the next night. When they needed extra height, they borrowed a friend's cherry picker to finish the job. Ms Pryor described the experience as "wonderful
Ms Pryor, 58, described the mural as her "gift" to the Newtown community. "It was a gesture made by two people in dire circumstances," she said

The mural reflects three themes from the 20th century, Ms Pryor said: gender equality, environmental activism and civil rights. The mural's location on King St perfectly fits the reference to Martin Luther King Junior's iconic speech, I Have A Dream.

Ms Pryor said she feels humbled and privileged by the council's decision to preserve what has become a cultural icon. Its purpose, she said, was to promote tolerance and equality. "It's been a powerful message that doesn't rely on aesthetics … it still has an authentic aura," she said.

In March the Marrickville Council commissioned an independent report to assess the mural's value. It found "the mural is of local historical, aesthetic and social heritage significance".

Mayor Mark Gardiner said the council's decision ensures the artwork's legacy. "Without heritage listing the mural is vulnerable to removal," he said.

Ms Pryor said the mural's enduring impact on people is proof of that significance. "When an artwork brings a new audience to it continually and each audience finds something satisfactory and powerful and meaningful ... then that artwork is truly powerful. It's authentic," she said.

This is painted in “Newtown” in Sydney. A hippy zone! People have tried trashing it but the hippies just restore it! Newtown is kind of like “Australia’s SAN Francisco ”

Yes, I’ve been to SF. A lot of good, accessible tourist attractions but a lot of homelessness, Chinks, and property Americans just can’t afford! (probably why there are a lot of bums?!) Bought by cashed up Chinks and Wealthy Silicon Valley workers bought it up so average citizens do it rough?
So many people come from Oakland just to work there! Oakland was like “ the wrong side of the tracks”!

The public drug use I saw was crazy!

I was told annually there is a public orgy/ queer festival in some “Lo Castro “ place there too?! Definitely a weird place full of liberals.

They’d probably rather put up a mural of “Obama” instead of Washington?

Also at one point Alcatraz Gaol was home to “Prairie Nigger” activists.

George Washington High School has about 2,000 students. Nearly all are people of color and many come from low-income families.

Save the $600,000 plus millions more by blowing up the painting with a mini-nuke while school's in session. Should leave a nice clean crater ready for rebuild.

Anybody who disagrees should "digitally archive" the students. In other words, take a picture and get over it.

Charlottesville will celebrate the end of slavery as an official holiday instead of Thomas Jefferson's birthday

By Alaa Elassar, CNN
Updated 7:57 AM ET, Tue March 3, 2020

(CNN)For the first time since World War II, the city where Thomas Jefferson once called home is no longer considering his birthday an official holiday.

Instead, the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, has replaced celebrating Jefferson's birthday with a new holiday -- Liberation and Freedom Day -- to mark the beginning of emancipation for 14,000 enslaved residents.

Nearly 75% of African Americans support reparations for slavery. Only 15% of white Americans do, a poll says

On March 3, Charlottesville commemorates the day Union troops arrived in 1865 at the end of the Civil War when city officials surrendered and the slaves were freed.

While Liberation and Freedom Day has been celebrated since 2017 when the Charlottesville City Council declared it a holiday, this is the first year Jefferson's birthday on April 13 will not be officially celebrated. Councilors voted 4-1 to remove his birthday as a holiday in June 2019.

The city celebrates Liberation and Freedom Day from March 1-8, with a week-long schedule of events ranging from vigils and community dinners to concerts and panel discussions.

"We're not going to forget Mr. Jefferson. His name adorns streets, parks, endowed chairs at the university, lecture halls and he's just all over the place," Jalane Schmidt, a University of Virginia professor and one of the event organizers, told CNN. "But we prioritize the emancipation of slaves over his birthday."

Finding something worth celebrating

Although Jefferson served as America's third president, authored the Declaration of Independence, and founded the University of Virginia, he was also a slave owner.

"It's very hard to expect us to celebrate an individual who said black people didn't have the ability to emote, that we smelled very vile, an individual who raped Sally Hemings and other slaves, and was just a treacherous slave owner," former city councilor Wes Bellamy told CNN.

"It's difficult to celebrate his birthday and at the same time celebrate the day in which enslaved Africans were set free. It doesn't go hand in hand with the city and the representation of what we're trying to do to move forward."

Why we can't tell hard truths on race

Bellamy, now the chairman of the political science department at Virginia State University, wrote the original resolution to celebrate Liberation and Freedom Day and voted in favor of removing Jefferson's birthday as an official holiday.

The decision was easy, but it came with a price, he said. Bellamy received death threats and both he and his family were harassed for his decision, but he said he had no regrets.

"It's important to be patient with people and impatient with progress. We'll have to wait for people to realize on their own time how painful and hurtful his actions were on our people," Bellamy said.

"I'm sorry they feel offended and think this is disgraceful, but as a community, we are not going to celebrate a white supremacist. You can see a person's best qualities when you have the privilege to take advantage of the things they put in place. But for those of us who have been on the shorter end of the stick, there's nothing about him worth being celebrated."

Standing on the right side of history

One of the catalysts behind the city's effort to remove Jefferson's birthday as a holiday, Bellamy said, was Charlottesville's white supremacist "Unite the Right" rally in 2017 that left one person dead after a man who drove into a crowd of counterprotesters.

Minnesota's constitution still allows slavery as a punishment for crimes. Now lawmakers are trying to change that

"We're setting an example," Bellamy said. "It's terrible that someone had to lose their life and we had to have a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville to finally open peoples' eyes, but what we're most proud of is that our community and our city is not just standing idle. We're doing something about it. We're paving the path for other localities to take the same action."

Heather Heyer, a 32-year-old paralegal, was killed at the August 2017 "Unite the Right" rally when a man drove his vehicle into a crowd of counterprotesters. More than two dozen people were injured. White nationalists, neo-Nazis and other groups opposed to the city's decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee had descended on the city for a day of violent clashes.

The killer, James A. Fields Jr., was sentenced to life in prison in a federal hate crimes case.

Another reason the decision to replace Jefferson's birthday with Liberation and Freedom Day is to correct the way Charlottesville is narrating its history, according to Schmidt, the professor and event organizer.

"The history of the Civil War is being suppressed in Charlottesville. With all the confederate statues and monuments everywhere you would think the confederates won, but they didn't," Schmidt said. "We need to tell the real story instead of these monuments lying about our history. We need to celebrate freedom and liberation."

During the Civil War, over 50 percent of the city's entire population was enslaved. While the spirits of Thomas Jefferson and other confederate leaders will always remain in Charlottesville, today -- and now forever -- they will not be the only ones remembered.
I urge every White Man, Woman, and Child to do your part and save our beautiful White Race. Stand up and fight in the Racial Holy War, become a Creator today.
