Excerpt: A German man, kidnapped by Somali pirates eight years ago, is believed to have been abducted by Filipino Islamist militants, the Philippines' army says.

The naked body of a woman found on an abandoned yacht is thought to be his wife, army spokesman Filemon Tan said.

In an audio message, the leader of the Abu Sayyaf group, which often kidnaps for ransom, said it was behind the raid, the military spokesman added.

The passports of Jurgen Kantner and his wife Sabine Merz were found on board.

The German authorities have yet to confirm the incident.

Extract: A YOUNG Melbourne woman found dead in a Mozambique toilet block had expressed reservations about visiting the "dangerous" area days earlier.

Elly Rose Warren, 20, was allegedly raped and murdered while on a beachside African holiday.

The young adventurer was reportedly snatched while returning alone to her beachfront backpackers accommodation from a party in Mozambique on Wednesday.

She had booked two nights accommodation at the Wuyani Pariango backpackers on Tofo bay, but according to the Daily Mail Australia, hostel staff said she never slept there after dropping off her bags and leaving to meet a friend.

Melbourne woman found dead in Mozambique was 'murdered'

Extract: A report by Mozambique authorities said Ms Warren did not die from suspicious circumstances.

However, an autopsy directed by forensic pathologist Dr Patricia Klepp in Johannesburg grossly contradicted the police report.

The 20-year-old's father, Paul Warren, told the Herald Sun the coroner told him there was no denying the young woman was murdered.

"Dr Klepp told me she was very surprised to see how much sand was still in Elly's mouth, through both bronchi tubes leading to her lungs," Mr Warren said.

"Any qualified doctor knows that this was not an accidental death. She was murdered."

The autopsy report stated there was a significant amount of sand in Ms Warren's mouth and left and right bronchi, suggesting she was suffocated by having her head pushed down in the ground.

The report also said there was no sign of sexual assault.

Mr Warren said his daughter was in Africa on a diving trip when she decided to go to Victor's Bar at Tofo Beach.

During the evening the 20-year-old left the bar to go to the bathroom but never returned. Her bladder was full during her autopsy suggesting she was attacked before she reached the toilet.

Extract: A NEWCASTLE couple's Bali holiday has ended in tragedy after the pair were left for dead after being struck by a car in a horrific accident.

Victoria Van de Stadt, 25, was at the tail-end of a relaxing and adventurous holiday with her boyfriend Louis Macindoe, 26, last Wednesday when the motorbike they had hired was struck by a car.

The pair were thrown from the mangled bike as the driver fled the scene, and were both left alive, but seriously injured.

Ms Van de Stadt, known by friends and family as Tori, sustained "devastating" facial and spinal injuries.

With the bike reportedly folded in half, the pair were left to suffer on the road. Family members have said they could have bled to death.

But friends of Ms Van de Stadt have revealed a fellow Australian tourist stumbled across the scene and remained by the pair's side while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, and assisted Tori in breathing for the hour-long wait.
