Excerpt: We've all heard the horror stories from Iraq, the Afghanistan war, the Kosovo war, and other wars which have taken place around the world. Young, vibrant men and women volunteer to go overseas and fight for their country. They sacrifice their peace of mind, time, and comfort.

However, when they come back, some of these individuals are not the same. They come back emotionless and empty vessels too horrified to talk about what they witnessed.

They just keep quiet. It's not long before these veterans start engaging in substance abuse to get rid of the war thoughts.

Perhaps a veteran friend or relative came back from the war, turned to alcohol or drugs, and you're wondering how you can help them.

Or, you may be the veteran suffering from substance abuse.

Read on to know the various aspects of substance abuse in veterans and how they can get help.

Why Do Veterans End Up in Substance Abuse?
Below, we discuss four common reasons why veterans may turn to drugs, alcohol and other outlets that are addictive:

1. To deal with the tough transition back to normal life

2. To cope with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
During war times, military personnel experience life-threatening and traumatic events. After they've left combat, these events such as death, shooting, torture, and others lead to the development of PTSD, a severe mental health condition.

Veterans struggling with this condition turn to alcohol and drugs to self-medicate, which often doesn't help and ends up worsening their symptoms.

Here are some of the PTSD symptoms you should look out for in your veteran friend or relative:

* Isolation from places, people, and conversations that may trigger war events
* Relationship issues
* Reliving the war times by having nightmares, flashbacks, distress, sweating, etc
* Reckless driving and other risky behaviours
* Smoking, drinking and doing drugs
* Feelings of hyperarousal such as anger, irritability, aggression, trouble sleeping, and jitteriness
* Uncontrollable negative feelings and thoughts of anxiety, despair, shame, and hopelessness
* Trouble concentrating and increased stress levels
* Sleeping problems
* Self-harm tendencies like suicide

Is PTSD a common condition among veterans? Even though we're all at risk of suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, veterans are at a higher risk of developing this condition than the general population.

The reason for this is that military life exposes servicepeople to frequent and potentially traumatic events, which leave them in a sad state of health both physically and mentally. For servicewomen, military sexual assaults also contribute to high PTSD rates in veterans.

Are PSTD-affected veterans at a greater risk of developing substance abuse disorders? The symptoms of PTSD can take both a physical and emotional toll on the victim. That's why many people with this condition turn to alcohol and drugs as a way of numbing their pain.

n a comorbidity study conducted in 1995, 52% of men and 28% of women struggling with PTSD were found to have alcohol misuse or dependence. Also, 35% of men and 27% of women met the criteria for drug misuse and dependence [3].

Sadly, veterans with PTSD are also in this trend, with statistics indicating that nearly 1 in 3 veterans getting treatment for a SUD (substance use disorder) also have PTSD. The number of smoking veterans with PTSD is almost double that of smoking veterans without PTSD.

Is PTSD a permanent condition? If left untreated, its symptoms may go for even a lifetime. Even though substances may offer relief in the short-term, they may worsen the condition over time. SUD and PTSD can destroy a person's relationship with his/her friends, relatives, and coworkers.

If you're a veteran and have PTSD, reaching out for help isn't a sign of weakness; it's a sign of strength. With professional help and care, you can work through your PTSD and lead a fulfilling life without turning to harmful substances.

3. To numb chronic pain from war injuries
Chronic pain is another reason why many veterans fall into substance abuse. While some of us may suffer from some kind of long-term pain, veterans are at a greater risk of developing chronic pain because of the extreme circumstances and traumatic injuries experienced in war.

To manage their pain, they may use opioids. These are strong painkillers available only with a prescription. If taken as prescribed, these medications can be very effective in handling various issues such as surgery recovery, back pain, and other problems. However, since they're also addictive, veterans may abuse them.

In the recent past, there has been a sharp rise in opioid prescriptions, which has led to addictions. A study conducted by the Center for Investigative Reporting in 2013 indicated that in 12 years, there was a 270% increase in veteran opioid prescriptions in the US [4].

This increase resulted in twice the amount of overdose and addiction deaths among veterans as compared to the average.

For people struggling with opioid addictions, their situation may be faced in various challenges. A study conducted in 2011 indicated that veterans are twice as likely to overdose on opioids than the general population [5].

Although substance abuse can be a real struggle for ex-service members, it doesn't mean they can't beat it. They can enrol in a suitable rehab program where they can get help to overcome their addiction, manage their pain through other ways, and go on to live successful lives.

Self Diagnosis Questionnaire: Do I Have PTSD?

Have you been through traumatic events (such as violence, crime, combat or abuse) in the past?

If so, then do any of the following apply to you:

As a result of that event, do you avoid being reminded of this experience by staying away from certain places, people or activities? Yes/No
Did you lose interest in activities that were once important or enjoyable? Yes/No
Did you begin to feel more isolated or distant from other people? Yes/No
Did you find it hard to have love or affection for other people? Yes/No
Did you begin to feel that there was no point in planning for the future? Yes/No
After this experience were you having more trouble than usual falling asleep or staying asleep? Yes/No
Did you become jumpy or get easily startled by ordinary noises or movements? Yes/No

Did you answer yes to four or more questions?

If so, this indicates a high likelihood of having PTSD. Speak with a health professional.
If not, then it indicates you're just a whiny prick. Harden the f. up!

NS doctors studied the effects of stress in war. I must mention that today doctors have Sigmund Freud influence in setting diagnosis who always include chemical methods whose books were burned and NS had their own psychoanalysis. I would really want to see the difference between Sigmund Freud and NS psychoanalysis because today all man in military must pass Freud version. Independent research about influence on both would result with lot of controverses because of anti-nazi rhetoric. According to Sigmund Freud: Napoleon,Julius Cesar and Hitler were mental ill,according to NS definitely not. Nature is ruthless to the weaker people who can not survive stress on job in general not just in military,what about mobbing on workplace? Before we analyse diagnosis as PTSD,we must first going on cause and it is because they were defeated by predator who had "Might is Right (Ragnar Redbread)" logic so fall of defeated is nothing new in nature laws.

I am not saying White men are not being intentionally targeted

If you mean White men are intentionally targeted for signing up for military service, then yes, I agree.

If you are saying that White men are intentionally targeted for suicide, then yes, I again agree.

It may sound ridiculous on the surface to claim that White men are targeted for suicide, but it is true. Whenever a non-White commits suicide, the world treats it like a tragedy. When a White man does it, his suicide is treated as if he was a loser that should have grown a backbone; harden the f. up he would have been told throughout his life.

Now, the problem that exists is that White men often end up alone. We are told that we have no culture. There are no family services willing to assist us. The family services groups that do exist are for women, children and non-Whites of any age and gender. For example: Those same groups that will reject a White man, tell us that Black and Indigenous cultures are family oriented. Therefore it is their responsibility to ensure that Black and Indigenous people are brought together or kept together as family or the tribal extended family.

Black and Indigenous are also fed the standard Blame Whitey - join the Tribe of Victims.

Meanwhile Whites are treated as criminals for daring to admit that something is not right. Without saying it directly, we are told because White people do not have a culture, we have no rights to family, or extended tribal family. Further: Race does not exist, but the White Race must be abolished.

Mix that blatant anti-Whiteness built into society with the stresses that comes with being a soldier, add the culture of violence and death that many soldiers experience, and you will see more White suicides. For that reason, we can safely say that Whites are being targeted for suicide, while non-Whites are being given all the assistance humanely possible.


Back in the 90's I read a book titled Behold a Pale Horse Paperback – December 1, 1991 - by Milton William Cooper/Bill Cooper.

In it, Bill Cooper said that White men are being targeted by society and the government to crack up and go on mass shooting sprees. Because the world basically ignores Black gun crime, the government agenda is to cause mass murders by Whites, with the objective that laws are changed and the populace is disarmed. I would have read that in 95 or 96, recognised that had I had easy access to weapons, I may have gone on my own shooting spree. Then in April of 96, there was in Australia, what they call the Port Arthur Massacre, and suddenly the laws were changed and the entire the Australian populace was completely disarmed.

That proved Bill's point. The shooter was a mentally retarded lunatic that shouldn't have had access to a butter knife, let alone high powered fire arms. Still, the laws changed for everyone, and everybody was disarmed. It wasn't exactly easy to obtain firearms before that, with gun licenses, registration and laws against open carry, laws against concealed carry, and police looking to remove your right to own firearms at every turn, but that was nothing compared to the post Port Arthur laws, because some intellectually deficient retard thought killing innocent people was fun.


In the end, no matter the reason, government intent to impose new laws or an anti-White society that just hates and blames Whitey, White men are targeted for suicide. If you are White, male and - through no fault of your own - find yourself immersed in a culture of violence with no family support and shunned by society, then murder and suicide become normalised. And that is not normal.

Many Creators are ex servicemen. Many Creators are divorced. Many Creators are also victims of racially oriented, Black criminal violence. Many Creators have been pushed to the margins of society and directly told that they are not wanted in that same society that says White men are to blame for all the woes of the world, that there is no such thing as Race, but that Black Lives Matter and Whiteness Must be Abolished, that Black people have a culture of family and belonging, while Whites have no culture, so f. off and just die already.

... However, few Creators ever commit suicide. Why? While Creativity espouses the belief that if your life is coming to an inevitable end because of debilitating disease, then suicide is an honourable option, few Creators have ever committed suicide for emotional reasons. And the reason for that is because Creativity has a culture of belonging and extended family through community. There's that, and we Creators - while attempting to save the world from itself - basically have an attitude of F.T.W./F. The World. Creators do not need approbation from an anti-White world, because we Creators seek to end that world and build a Whiter and Brighter World in our own likeness.
