Nerd Tips: Make Fonts Easier to Read in Windows & Chrome Browser

One some computers with less power, fonts can appear thin and jagged looking in Windows OS and Chrome/Opera browser.

In Windows

Performance Options or Adjust the Appearance and Performance of Windows
Visual Effects
Smooth Font Edges

Also try Clear Type Tuner

On Chrome/Opera Browser

Visit URL chrome://flags/
Or chrome://flags/#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas
Enable "Disable Accelerated 2D Canvas"
If Enabled, set to Disabled
Relaunch

Accelerated 2D Canvas
Enables the use of the GPU to perform 2d canvas rendering instead of using software rendering. – Mac, Windows, Linux
#disable-accelerated-2d-canvas

Go to Settings: chrome://settings/system
Toggle off the option for Use Hardware Acceleration When Available


If you've done all of that and your system fonts are running as clear and sharp as they can get, but you just want things bigger? Hold down the Control/Ctrl Key and Scroll up and down with your mouse until you're happy with what you see.

If everything's still blurry, then get your bloody eyes tested!
