This article suggests it only takes a certain level of violence in a multi-ethnic society to create genuine segregation.

Those that earlier advocated multi-ethnic and multicultural societies and are still alive today often see the error of their ways. The only problem is that there is always another generation of demented little neo-marxists ready to replace them and declare all advancement of knowledge outside their own sphere of influence as regressive and redundant as opposed to their so-called progressive ideals.

Quote from: Private
"The concept of multiculturalism is actually incompatible with a democratic society. ... If one asks, where in the world are multicultural societies functioning, he quickly comes to the conclusion, that multiculturalism can only exist peacefully within strong authoritarian states [such as the Soviet Union]. In that respect it was a mistake that we, in the early 1960s, brought in guestworkers from alien cultures."
