When I was a kid, I was not encumbered by Christinsanity. My mother let me read library books about the Greek gods and so I saw everything as a myth - later ... Hebrew included. I was amazed by the Greek myths at age 8 and 9. At 12, I was amazed at the disgust of the Hebrew.
My mother was into Pagan mysteries before they became popular as Wiccan. She's in her seventies and willing to marry PM Joe - if he's a millionaire refugee from the US. She has never seen a ghost; she has never felt the spirit of whatever take over her body; and she has never seen a spiritual reader tell the truth. My mother now calls herself a Pagan to insult the JEWhovah's Witnesses and Mormans that knock on her door. In truth, she is as natural Creator as we are - in all but name and doesn't really know our religion - but hates the Jew more than even we do - because she use to work for them in the jewellery trade and saw personally their child raping filth and diamond smuggling crime.
If I was murdered tomorrow, my mum and PM Joe would become friends and fight for my vengeance - and of course a Whiter and Brighter World. I say that because knowing my mother, and the fact I'm over fifty years old and she's still pissed off that coons kicked the f. out of me when I was seventeen, if I was murdered tomorrow, she'd step up - or perhaps she'd try to use her own 1970's contacts with Mandamas MC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Gypsy_Joker_Motorcycle_Club#Mandamas_MC) to have the killers cut up and dumped in the city mall. (My mother was - at that time - the first and only woman ever added to an Outlaw MC Member Book. She was called Dragon Lady.)
My father was a poser - although I didn't know it. He talked tough, but he was scared of spooks. It was him that introduced me to Iron Maiden's album, Number of the Beast. It's not that he liked it, it was that his mates liked it and he wanted to fit in. So, a few years later when I'm sitting in the back yard drinking beer as a teenager and my mates are chanting "666 the number of the beast ..." while burning pictures of the jew Virgin Mary we'd found, he thought we were going too far and attempted to put a stop to it. What stopped him was my mother laughing at him and reminding him that it's his music we were playing. Later again, when I was beaten by coons with head and internal injuries, he booked me into the hospital as an Anglican. It later turned out that he and his family were ashamed of me, one of their reasons was that I was never baptised.
I cannot help but see people who believe in invisible spooks in the sky or underground as superstitious fruit loops with imaginary friends.
As you can see, I was brought up with realism and given the spook option - even with Odinism when my mother discovered the Runes. I didn't and don't need superstition.
