I read a post on natvan.com about guns and found these comments:

Excellent! I always thought it'd be nice to have one of the giant magnets from the junk yard that picks up cars, mounted to the front of a pick up truck... When the horde comes chasing the decoy down the street towards the magnet truck, put on the super blinder high beams, spray the two concoctions you mentioned and crank up the magnet disarming the hordes. Never hurts to brew a "special" brew for the hordes, they'd love some free beer. We invented guns, if we unplug from the media, stop allowing the JOG theatre to occupy our homes and minds our creative spirit returns, who knows what we'll come up with next! It's an exciting time to be alive and if you love a good fight this just may be THE ONE we've ben waiting for.

We typically don't discuss home-made weapons because it's something only you Americans can do. Everyone argues about Gun Rights, but we don't even have the right to carry sticks and stones. Women can even be charged for carrying hair spray in their hand bags. That's why custom weapons manufacture is not discussed by people here.

Not that we're stopping you Americans. If it's legal in your country, the topic is yours.

However, I will break local SA law this once and tell you what does work: A super soaker whatever they are called water pistol filled with vinegar. Aim for the eyes. The Ascetic Acid will sting your victim's eyes. They will typically think that you have sprayed them with Nitric Acid or Battery Acid/Sulfuric Acid - neither of which we would ever use because using either could permanently disfigure and blind the intended target. And that is against the law.

Vinegar comes in varying strengths. At about 50c per litre, the cheapest is enough to cause panic so that you can subdue the thieving black bastard and give them the Doctor Martin Dental Treatment/or make use of industrial strength cable ties and call the police.

For extra strength, add some extra hot chillies to the vinegar. You can also eat the pickled chillies.

And now I'm obligated to explain the treatment

Vinegar is a mix of ascetic acid and water. It will sting your eyes if sprayed directly into them. Vinegar will not cause any short or long-term damage to your eyes. You just need to irrigate your eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. It is very important to use clean water; otherwise you may get an eye infection. You can use bottled water if you have plenty. See a doctor if pain persists.

There's also other legal remedies. i.e. bleach, lighter fluid, turps, the options are endless for very legal home defence adventures. Remember oven spray is definitely a good tool for defensive encounters. Rat poison can also be made into liquid. Wasp spray is good to.
