A SERVING British soldier was hacked to death in south east London metres away from his barracks by two men with meat cleavers ranting "we swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you".
In extraordinary broad daylight scenes in Woolwich, (http://goo.gl/maps/JdqqC) the men allegedly ran the man down in a car then tried to hack the man's head off and have their own crime filmed.
They then waited 20 minutes for police to turn up before charging at them with meat cleavers, knives and a hand gun.
Both men, shouting "Allah Akbar" or "God is great" in Arabic, were shot by police snipers including a female officer, and were this morning (AEST) in hospital under guard in a serious but stable condition.
Scotland Yard has confirmed two men were arrested over the "shocking and horrific" murder.
Witnesses have given terrifying accounts of what they saw on the main street in the suburb at 2.20pm (London time, 11.20pm AEST), describing two men chopping at the victim "like a piece of meat".
"They were hacking at this poor guy, literally," said one witness, identified only as James as he fought back tears.
"They were hacking at him, chopping him, cutting him. These two guys were crazed."
The men then apparently stood around the body and demanded shocked witnesses take photographs of them.

Well, it isn't true of all Southern and Eastern European peoples in Australia. When my Italian Grandparents came here, they had bugger all and worked very hard to raise 7 kids , school them and build a home.Men like that don't exist nowadays.These people never put their hands out.. nor where they allowed to. Lots of Europeans set up market gardens, helped establish the Snowy Mountains hydro electric plant.

A WOMAN who once dated terror suspect Michael Adebolajo has expressed her shock at the alleged actions of a man she described as a "normal guy". Two terror suspects shot by police in Woolwich remain under arrest in hospital in a stable condition. Australian Muslims are being urged to be aware of the possibility of a local backlash after the deadly terrorist attack in London this week.

A French soldier patrolling a business neighbourhood west of Paris has been stabbed in the neck by a man who quickly fled the scene and is being sought by police, President Francois Hollande said.The soldier was patrolling in uniform with two other men as part of France's Vigipirate anti-terrorist surveillance plan when he was approached from behind around 1600 GMT and stabbed in the neck with a knife or a box-cutter.
Hollande, in the Ethiopian city of Addis Ababa, commented on the stabbing to say that the man was still on the run and police were exploring all leads.
"We still don't know the exact circumstances of the attack or the identity of the attacker, but we are exploring all options," Hollande told journalists.
Pierre-Andre Peyvel, police prefect for the Hauts-de-Seine area, said the soldier had lost a considerable amount of blood but would survive, and was being treated in a nearby military hospital.
"The wound appears to be quite serious, but it's not life-threatening," he told iTele news television.
Peyvel said the man was able to flee into a crowded shopping area in the La Defense business neighbourhood before the two other soldiers, who were walking in front of him, were able to react.
French daily Le Parisien cited a police source as saying the suspected attacker was a bearded man of North African origin about 30 years old, and was wearing an Arab-style garment under his jacket.However, Peyvel declined to confirm or deny that description and said further details about the attacker's identity would be forthcoming.
France is on high alert for attacks following its military intervention in Mali in January, which prompted threats against French interests from AQIM.
The attack came days after a British soldier was killed on a London street by two men who said they were acting out of revenge for violence against Muslims.

ONE of the chief suspects in the slaying of a British soldier on a London street has appeared in court charged with murder and possession of a firearm.
Michael Adebowale, 22, spoke only to confirm his name and address at the brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court, before being taken back into custody.
Another man, Michael Adebolajo, 28, has also been arrested but remains in hospital after he and Adebowale were shot by police at the scene of the murder of soldier Lee Rigby on May 22.
Both suspects were filmed and photographed at the murder scene by witnesses, but legal restrictions prohibit the reporting of further details from the attack.
Another eight people have been arrested by counter-terrorism police as part of the investigation. Two women were released without charge and six men were released on bail.
A post-mortem examination found on Wednesday that Rigby, a machine-gunner who had served with British forces in Afghanistan in 2009, died of multiple cut and stab wounds.
A formal hearing into the young father's death will open at Southwark Coroner's Court in London on Friday.

Five prison officers accused of assaulting one of Lee Rigby's killers are today facing a new investigation - with colleagues threatening strike action if they become 'victims of a witch hunt'.
Michael Adebolajo was allegedly assaulted and his front teeth knocked out in Belmarsh prison, South East London last July.
At the time, five long-standing prison officers were suspended and a criminal investigation was launched by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
In December, the CPS said charges would not be brought against the officers.
However, a new investigation is to be launched tomorrow by the National Offender Management Service - which has the ability to dismiss the officers if the complaint is proved.
Today, the general secretary of the Prison Officers' Association said strike action was a real possibility.
He told The People:'If we believe they are victims of a witchhunt by the Prison Service, we will take strike action.
'These men have been put under enormous pressure for simply doing their jobs. It is astonishing that given the CPS decision not to prosecute, they have not had their suspension lifted.

Michael Adebolajo, one of two Islamic extremists who butchered Lee Rigby on the streets of Woolwich, will die behind bars after an attempt to challenge his sentence was quashed. The murder's application for leave to appeal his whole-life sentence was rejected by Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas today.
Sitting at the Court of Appeal in London with Lady Justice Hallett and Mr Justice Openshaw, he threw out arguments made by Adebolajo's legal team. Members of Fusilier Rigby's family, who were in court for the ruling, gasped with relief and shed tears of relief as the decision was announced.

A BRITISH court has sentenced a teenager to 22 years in prison for plotting an attack against a soldier inspired by the 2013 murder of Lee Rigby by Islamist militants in London.
Brusthom Ziamani, 19, was detained in August 2014 carrying a 30.5cm knife, a hammer and a black Islamist flag in his rucksack.
Police said they were alerted to his intentions after he showed his weapons to his ex-girlfriend.
"The defendant ... would have carried out the intention he so graphically expressed to his ex-girlfriend just a few hours before," judge Timothy Pontius told the court on Friday.
The judge said Ziamani would have to serve at least two-thirds of the sentence before being eligible for parole.
A jury at England's Old Bailey central criminal court in London last month convicted him of "preparing an act of terrorism".
Ziamani's trial heard he became radicalised by members of extremist organisation al-Muhajiroun (ALM) and had researched the location of army cadet bases.
Ziamani's lawyer, Naeem Mian, said his client was not an "entrenched extremist" and had been led astray by people "more sophisticated and mature" than him.
Police found a ripped-up letter in his trousers in which he wrote about attacking a British soldier.
Ziamani claimed he was only "ranting and raging about the situation in Muslim countries" and his postings were an attempt to "fit in" with the ALM group.
He said he was carrying the weapons as protection.
Following his conviction, Commander Richard Walton from the London police force's Counter Terrorism Command said the case highlighted the threats currently faced by Britain.
"Ziamani was an impressionable young man who became radicalised, then rapidly developed an extremist, violent mindset," he said.
