"There is no place in Australia for symbols that glorify the horrors of the Holocaust," Australia's Jewish Federal Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus said.

"And we will no longer allow people to profit from the display and sale of items which celebrate the Nazis and their evil ideology," he said.

Private ownership of Nazi paraphernalia – such as collectors of historical items and war souvenirs – will not be banned, though the sale of such items for money will be prohibited.


What They Didn't Say: Any transfer of ownership - free or otherwise - postage and transportation is prohibited. Any display online or in public is prohibited. Photographs privately sent to a friend are also prohibited.

Conviction can result in 5 years prison along with a $10K fine, and registration by the government as a Terrorist. Loss of Australian citizenship and deportation is also a possibility.

Australia's Jewish community is in uproar over a set of number plates that appear to celebrate Hamas' attack on Israel.

Former Liberal candidate Freya Leach, a university student who ran in the 2023 state  election, shared a photo of the plates attached to a white Ford Ranger on Thursday.

She claimed the ute was spotted in Western Sydney and asked, 'how is this allowed?', tagging NSW Premier Chris Minns.


The plate, which reads 'OCT7TH', is believed to reference the date Hamas soldiers killed more than 1,000 civilians in Israel, triggering the war in Gaza.

The photo has since gone viral online and has been condemned by the Australian Jewish Association (AJA) as 'sick'.

The federal government is planning new laws to criminalise "doxxing" to protect peoples' privacy and push back on hate speech.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the invasive act of publicly revealing personally identifiable information about a person online, a practice that is often used to punish someone, will be addressed

"I've asked the attorney-general to bring forward legislation in response to the Privacy Act review, including laws that deal with so-called doxxing, which is basically the malicious publication of private information online," he told Sydney radio 2GB on Monday.

His commitment comes after pro-Palestine activists published the names and details of hundreds of Jewish people online, including photos and social media details.

"These are 600 people in the creative industries, people like Deborah Conway the singer, people who are in the arts and creative sector, who had a WhatsApp group," Albanese said.

"Not a WhatsApp group that was heavily political, a WhatsApp group to provide support for each other because of the rise in anti-Semitism that we've seen.

"And what we've seen is them being targeted."

Albanese said the idea that someone can be targeted because of their religion or faith was completely unacceptable.

"This is not the Australia that we want to see," he added.

The Executive Council of Australian Jewry welcomed the government's plan to make doxxing a crime.

Excerpt: Anti-Defamation Commission chairman Dvir Abramovich told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday night that the 'stomach-churning' number plate was pushing a 'vile agenda'.

'VicRoads needs to ensure that vanity number plates that contain anti- Semitic and racist acronyms and terms are revoked immediately or not approved in the first place,' Mr Abramovich said.

'At a time when anti-Jewish hatred is skyrocketing across the country, and we are seeing a dangerous surge of unabashed white supremacists who are determined to push their vile and dark agenda into the real world, this type of is the last thing we need.

'We can't afford to be asleep at the wheel and permit heinous references that incite violence and glorify bigotry to appear on our cars.'

Mr Abramovich called on ORDERED VicRoads to follow the example of NSW, which recalled personalised number plates that read 'OCT7TH' in an apparent celebration of the Hamas attacks on Israel last year that sparked bloody fighting in the region.


Last Thursday NSW Main Road minister John Graham announced he had acted to get the plates recalled.

'As soon as I heard about this, we issued an order for it to be recalled,' he told Sydney radio station 2GB.

'That process used to take up to a month before plates could be called back in. Transport has acted immediately. As roads minister, we've shortened that process, and the request is now that these plates are [recalled] in within 48 hours.'

Mr Graham said if the owner doesn't hand in the offending plates within 48 hours, the car's registration will be 'cancelled altogether'. The owner can then be fined as much as $1488.00 dollars, have their vehicle crushed and be imprisoned for driving an unregistered vehicle.

VicRoads claims there is a simple explanation for the personalised plates.

Chief Operations Officer Michael Hooper said following an investigation by VicRoads, it was found the plates referenced the driver's birth year and initials.

'We have reviewed the application and are satisfied the intent behind the combination is not intended to cause offence - lucky numbers, birth years and personal initials are often used in custom number plates,' he said in a statement.

Educate yourself. Don't allow yourself to be arrested over something that has nothing to do with "Nazis" ...
