ALICE SPRINGS police are searching for a man following an indecent assault on Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Watch Commander Siiri Tennosaar said police are appealing for witnesses following the assault on a 51-year-old woman.

The attack occurred at about 3pm Tuesday as the woman was walking across the Wills Terrace footbridge.

The woman's attacker fled immediately after the incident.

Her attacker is described as a skinny Aboriginal in his early 20s and about 175cm to 180cm tall.

IT IS known for its unique landscape, laid-back larrikin lifestyle and being home to one of Australia's most iconic landmarks, Uluru.

But the Northern Territory also has a less appealing distinction — being the homicide capital of Australia.

Statistics from the Australian Institute of Criminology show the Top End has had the highest homicide rate for the past decade - and here's why.

Beneath the aesthetics are pockets of extreme poverty, homelessness, alcohol-fuelled violence and family violence — all of which, experts say, contribute to the territory's high rate of murder and manslaughter.

According to the latest AIC figures, the homicide rate for the NT was 5.5 per 100,000 people. This is five times the national rate and almost four times the second highest state, Western Australia, which had a homicide rate of 1.4 per 100,000.


News.com.au examined 10 years of data from the institute's National Homicide Monitoring Program and found the NT consistently had a higher rate for murder and manslaughter than anywhere else in Australia. In 2001-02, the NT's rate was almost six times higher than the national average, 11.5 compared to 1.9. By 2011-12 it had improved significantly to 5.5, but was still higher than the rest of the country.

So considering the NT is 30% Abo and has 86% Abo Gaol inmates, it is fair to say they are the biggest street level crooks in Australia!

ALICE Springs police were left in utter disbelief after pulling over a Toyota Troop Carrier to find 17 people inside – including an unrestrained two-month-old baby. 
 
Southern Traffic Operations Section officers pulled over the Troopie at 9.15am yesterday, driving south on Priest Way in Alice Springs. They noticed the car because the back was almost touching the road.

Sergeant Conan Robertson described the scene that confronted officers as they opened the back door as "ridiculous".

"People were sitting on other people, who had their feet on yet more people," he said.

"In total there were 17 occupants: three in the front and 14 in the back. Only the three in front were wearing seatbelts."


Sgt Robertson said seatbelts saved lives and if the car had been involved in a crash the results would have been catastrophic.

Well not catastrophic for white people!

A MAN BOONG has been charged with arson after an apparent altercation between a group of drinkers led to a fire a fire at inner-city guesthouse on Friday afternoon. 
 
The alleged arson attack happened after 42-year-old man is believed to have fallen out with his drinking partners at Malabar Lodge on Smith St.

Despite its imposing title, Malabar Lodge is a rambling, rundown fibro building near the end of Smith St.

Yesterday a charred mattress was lying in the back yard along with other unwanted items.

There are "Resticted Premises" signs on both fences, indicting drinking is prohibited in the many rooms of the lodge and large dry yard.


But it appears the rules around alcohol had been dispensed by some residents on Friday afternoon before the trouble started.

Duty Superintendent Bob Harrison described the man who started the fire in one of the rooms of the lodge at about 5pm as "aggressive and arguing and carrying on".

"He was obviously annoyed and lit up some cloth and threw it through the windows of an occupant's room and a mattress and curtain caught fire.

THE 17-year-old passenger of a Toyota HiLux has been hit with a $1260 fine after throwing fireworks at itinerants in the Parap area early on Monday morning. 
 
Police were able to track the young man back to an address in Berrimah after CCTV cameras in the Parap Village Shopping Centre captured images of the registration plates on the white Toyota.

Supreintendent Brendan Muldoon said the Parap incident saw fireworks being thrown from a moving car at itinerants *BOONGS*sleeping around the Parap commercial centre.

"CCTV picked up the vehicle and we got the registration number," Supt Muldoon said.

I'm surprised they didn't try and call that one a Hate Crime ... but wait; It was probably a mulatto mongrel doing the deed. Otherwise it would have ended up in news around the nation as another example of White Supremacists on the loose.
