Johannesburg - A would-be robber was shot dead and one of his alleged accomplices wounded in Benoni on Friday morning, Johannesburg police said. They allegedly followed an elderly couple that had exchanged money at a local mall to their Brentwood Park home, and tried to rob them, but were shot by the couple's son, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Jannie Van Aswegen said.

The couple had just exchanged R200 notes for R100 notes at a local Standard Bank. When they got home, they parked their car, but when they went to close the gate, they saw a white Audi A4 entering their property. Three men armed with pistols then got out of the car and walked towards them." Unbeknown to the three, the couple's son was watching from inside the house. When he saw what was about to happen, he started shooting at the three men.

They ran back into their car, but their driver was shot dead. They then pushed him to the passenger side and one of them took over ... he was also shot but managed to drive off. With their alleged accomplice dead, the two men made their way to the Lakeside Mall and stopped in the underground parking area. As they got out, one of them fell to the ground, while the other tried to run.

A security guard at the centre saw a bloodied man running away from the vehicle with bullet holes and called the police. The Saps flying squad called to the scene managed to arrest the man trying to run away. He was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on Monday. His alleged accomplice, found lying near the car, was under police guard in hospital. Inside the car full of bullet holes, they found one dead person and a pistol.

Vorster family survives attack by four gunmen, Roodepoort

Somewhere in South Africa, a young black man is trying to get the blade of a steak knife removed from his skull ...

Nineteen year old Ruan Vorster was forced to defend his attacked father Phillip, 49 --  a mechanical engineer who is a member of the Roodekrans- neighbourhood watch - by stabbing one attacker with a steakknife into his skull. The blade broke off inside the attacker's head - and the injured man has fled with three other men in a white Mercedes Benz. Nothing was robbed in the bizarre armed attack against the Afrikaner family. In a rather confusing story in Beeld newspaper on August 5 2010, the events apparently were as follows: Vorster senior was waiting inside his house for a man who was known to him to show up for an appointment at around 8pm in their house in Palala Street.

Either the father or the son, then had stepped outside to fetch something from the family car - and upon his return to the house was attacked in the hallway by three armed black men. The other son Hein, 17 and Ruan saw their father being beaten over the head with flashlights and guns. Ruan grabbed a steakknife and attacked one of the black men who was assaulting his father, storming the man, hitting him with an elbow and pushing him against a wall. The man defended himself and Ruan stabbed him into the top of his skull. The stabbed attacker then fell to the ground while the other two black men were still beating up on Mr Vorster senior. Meanwhile Hein had rushed to the telephone and spoke to his friend Joubert Schoeman. 'O foei... come and help'  he shouted over the phone.

The Vorster youths then heard a shot - and learned that the shot had barely missed their father's stomach and had gone through an upper leg. Meanwhile, the friend Joubert Schoeman and his father Dirk had rushed to the Vorster home after alerting the police. Ruan said he was convinced that his father was dead when he heard that shot. The police arrived within minutes - but ALL THREE black attackers had by then fled in a white BMW, driven by a man who had been waiting outside inside the car. Nothing was robbed.

Afrikaner barman innocent of murdering aggressive patron

Bloemfontein barman Marius van Niekerk is found not guilty of murdering Gareth Wotshela, trainee-manager of Metcash in Hamilton, in June 2009.

August 6 2010 – BLOEMFONTEIN REGIONAL COURT. Barman Marius van Niekerk was defending himself in a reasonable manner against Gareth Sdeku Wotshela, who in June last year had attacked Van Niekerk and other bar patrons, first by trying to run them down with his car and then attacking the Afrikaner bartender with a knife. Earlier that night, Wotshela had been involved in a fracas inside the Warriors pub at the showgrounds --  and the barman had to break up this earlier fight but had 'shown no animosity towards Wotshela', the magistrate ruled.

Regional court magistrate Dawn Soomaroo found that 'Van Niekerk could not have expected that one defensive blow against the aggressor's cheekbone would kill the man'.  Mr Wotshela died about an hour later in hospital after the melee at the local show grounds. Van Niekerk was described as 'sturdily built' by Volksblad newspaper journalist Mike van Rooyen. He reports that Van Niekerk was found not guilty and his case dismissed by the court.

Soomaro said in her summary that according to all the State witnesses, Van Niekerk had shown no aggression towards Wotshela in the runup to the event. Wotshela though, had been involved in a row with other guests at the Warriors pub earlier – and Van Niekerk, as the barman, had broken up this fight but had shown no animosity towards Wotshela. Later that night, according to State witnesses, Wotshela had waited inside his car for Van Niekerk and other patrons to leave the pub – and then had tried to run them down in his car before jumping out and rushing at Van Niekerk with a knife, trying to stab the Afrikaner barman.

Soomaro ruled that Van Niekerk 'had acted legally while he was being attacked illegally'. His defence attorney's request for dismissal was granted. "The State witnesses had testified earlier that Van Niekerk could not have countered the knife-attack against him in any other way,' ruled Soomaroo.

At an earlier appearance (*), Wotshela family members had demonstrated outside the court, wearing t-shirts with the deceased man's picture and placards complaining of the 'Racist Justice System". - Volksblad

Louise Jacobs 77 let her shotgun do the talking

Johannesburg – "I'm going to shoot you," 77-year-old Louise Jacobs warned her attacker. When he swung his firearm toward her, she didn't hesitate and let her shotgun do the talking. The buckshot blast, which wounded one attacker and made the rest run away brought the farm attack to a stop. Her husband Peet, 81, said the attack started a day earlier, on Friday.

"On Saturday morning I realised things had been stolen from my bakkie and that our one dog was sick. We gave him some milk and he was better after a while, but I knew something was going on," Mr Jacobs said on Tuesday on their farm, about 12km outside Heidelberg on the Vereeniging road. On Monday morning he went to the Heidelberg police station to report Friday night's theft, when his wife phoned him and said she had just been attacked on the farm and shot one of the attackers. "One of the policemen just said: 'Go, I'll organise everything.' When I got to the farm, they (the police) were waiting for me. The police were here, members of the community policing forum and neighbours, the helicopter was in the air and they even had the dogs out here. The police really deserve congratulations for their level of service and how quickly they responded," said Mr Jacobs.

According to Mrs Jacobs, one of their workers first said she suspected there were strangers behind the house. "I told her to jump over the electric fence and run, and I went to the bedroom to fetch the shotgun. "The next moment I heard them breaking open the security gate at the front door with a pick axe. Then one of them broke the window next to the front door with a firearm and climbed in."He was still busy pointing the gun around when I shot – from here, from the security gate at the bedrooms. You can look straight at the front door from here. "He shouted to the others to run and they left in a hurry. Then I phoned my husband," she says. "A little voice in the back of my head told me to 'load the shotgun with buckshot' the previous night," said Mr Jacobs.

According to Thivhulawi Tshilate of the Heidelberg SAPS, a 33-year-old Zimbabwean suspect was apprehended in the area. He wasn't however the wounded man. The Toyota Venture in which the five other suspects fled was later found deserted in Rondebult at Dawn Park, Boksburg. The police also found a trail of blood near the vehicle. Mrs Jacobs' fearlessness in the midst of danger also showed itself a few years ago. A snake was lying next to the dogs bowl, and when she tried to chase it away with stones, it spat in her eye. "But that's when I decided enough is enough and killed it with a rock before I went to the doctor," she said.

By now we must have all heard about the case of the White Blue Bulls Rugby player, Bees Roux, who was arrested for murdering a Black traffic policeman Ntshimane Johannes Mohale. At his stage the details are scares and the circumstances sketchy. All I know, that is a fact for sure, is that this incident will be ridden and milked  for every bit of propaganda value that you can imagine, because the alleged perpetrator is White and Afrikaans and the alleged victim  was black. Make no mistake, that as  in the Reitz-four case, a hung jury appointed by the liberal mainstream media  will be out to bay for the blood of Roux.

Every day Whites are killed by blacks in South Africa. Thousands a year. Many do not even make the daily newspaper, but let it just be the other way around, or let a White just successfully defend himself against assault by blacks, then all hell breaks loose in South Africa. In South Africa the law is on the side of the criminal. When a black breaks into the house of a White person and even attempts to stab the owner, the owner is not allowed to simply defend himself with a firearm.

The matter of proportionality comes into play. In other words if you are assaulted with bare hands, then you are allowed to defend yourself with bare hands. If you are assaulted with a knife, you are allowed to defend yourself with a knife. If you are shot at, then only you are allowed to shoot back ... and if you happen to kill the perpetrator, a compulsory case of murder will be opened against you. YOU as the victim, will be arrested for murder and be thrown in jail along with rapist and murderers.

If you are White, bail will be set at thousands of Rand, but bail for the black rapists and murderers are often only a few hundred Rand. At the moment we do not know much about what happened in the early hours of Friday morning, 27th of August 2010. All we know is that three black traffic cops pulled over a White man for drunken driving, but did not arrest him for drunken driving. The one cop then tells his friends he was going to drive Roux and his car home, because Roux was drunk. Surely if he was indeed drunk, he should have been arrested and driven to a police station and blood tests done to prove that he was drunk. Not in this case. The cop drove him in the opposite direction of where the police station is.

The other two cops did not follow them or see the alleged assault. While Roux was being driven home, his credit card was used at a McDonalds fast food restaurant at about 02h30 in the morning, about 30 minutes after he was pulled over. If the McDonalds had CCTV, then it would be obviously easy to see who the ones were that used his credit card, but do not be surprised if this evidence magically disappears.

An incident on the corner of Schoeman and Richard streets, in Hatfield then took place, someone called the police and paramedics found the cop dead in the middle of the street with extensive injuries. Roux is working with the police and giving his full co-operation. Although the state prosecutor asked for bail of "only" R20,000 the Magistrate pushed it up to 100,000. One of Mohale's sisters cried almost non-stop during court proceedings. His brother shouted at Roux, "I'm going to get your mother, you f#cking (white) dog!"

We will be watching this case.

Johannesburg - A taxidermist shot and killed two of the West Rand's most wanted criminals on Tuesday, after he was wounded in the foot. Two other suspected members of a gang which carried out four robberies within three days were arrested. Jacques Fouché, 36, from Randfontein, told how he was helping a client, a certain JJ from Mauritius, carry hunting trophies, skins and skulls to the client's car at Fouché's house in Fir Street, Green Hills.

"When we walked back, I saw two men walking toward us. "I leaned into my bakkie to press the remote control button to close the gate, but then they were already on us."
The robbers took Fouché and JJ to the workshop at the back of the premises, where they repeatedly punched a worker, Jacob. The three men were forced to lie on the floor and their hands were tied behind their backs. They were stripped of their valuables. "Another two men came in with a bag containing an R5 rifle. I was warned not to take any chances while the one robber waved the R5 in front of me. Then they took me alone to the master bedroom in the house."

The safe was already unlocked by then. The robbers wanted to know where Fouché was hiding his money and pistols. Fouché was repeatedly hit over the head with the R5 while he was tied up and held on his bed. "Suddenly some of them came running in, screaming that they have to get out of there. I don't know what happened, but I suspect Jacob freed himself and jumped over the wall into the neighbours' property to get help. "Then a security company was called."

Fouché freed himself and grabbed a shotgun. When he tried to shoot the gun misfired. He grabbed a second shotgun and left the house. Two of the robbers turned back and opened fire on him. "When I saw they were coming back, I had to run to the stoep and find shelter." Fouché shot at the suspects, who were near JJ's car, from the stoep. One of them shot back from inside the car. He was hit in the right foot while on his way to hide behind his bakkie. "I carried on shooting back and then I just sat behind the bakkie until the shots stopped."

The two back windows of JJ's car were shattered by bullets. The body of one of the robbers lay outside the car on the road. Another suspect's body was in the driver's seat. Police spokesperson Appel Ernst said Peet Venter, a policeman who lives in the area, reacted quickly when he heard the shots and called the police. "Another two robbers were found in the veld and in a nearby townhouse complex. We found two 9mm pistols in the vehicle. Another 9mm pistol was found in the veld and the R5 rifle was found in the townhouse complex. "They are definitely among the most wanted criminals in the area," Ernst added.

Farm wife Cecelia Steynberg, 51, shoots armed attacker in neck – Stormpan, Wesselsbron

An armed black man, one of at least four home-invaders, who invaded a farm homestead near Wesselsbron was shot in the neck by the farmer's wife, leaving the gunman injured and probably permanently disabled. Nothing was robbed. Two suspects are still at large. Mrs Cecelia Steynberg (51) of  the farm Stormpan woke up at around 3:00am from the loud barking of her little dogs inside. She fetched their firearm from the safe where, by law, it has to be locked up, and climbed back into bed. She said her husband Callie works in Kroonstad and she's alone at home: so she make certain that she was able to protect herself. After a while she heard the security-door inside the hallway leading to the bedroom being broken down. She tried to raise the farm-manager on her Farm-watch link's two-way radio, but could not reach him: he apparently was busy at the chicken-house.

A black man then suddenly entered her bedroom, pointed a firearm at her and pulled the trigger.  However she was lucky: the attacker's gun failed to fire so the man surged towards her while she fired off a shot which hit him in the neck. He was only a meter away from her when she shot the gunman, police said. She then rushed outside and fired off another warning shot to alert the farm-workers. Police and the local farm-watch were on the scene very quickly. SAPS sergeant Puleng Motsoeneng, said the injured man told them that there were three other men with him who were attacking the Steynberg homestead. They got in by cutting through the burglar-bars with a wirecutter.  Police confiscated a firearm from him which had its serial-number filed off. They also found another person's driver's license and Mrs Steynberg's car-keys on the injured man. He was admitted to Odendaalsrust hospital under police guard and then transferred to Welkom's Bongani hospital.

Meanwhile local farmers teamed up with field-trackers and Agri-Free State's intelligence chief Hennie Gerber and launched a massive search for the three other farm-attackers, arresting a second suspect later that morning who provided information to help track down the other two. However the two are still at large; they managed to get through the cordon put up near Odendaalsrust.

Two Blacks Shot Dead In Farm Attack

Walkerville, Vereeniging. The supermarket chain who buys the dairy-products from 26-year-old dairy foreman Eon Viljoen has much to answer for. Their failure to pay the farm for its products has caused a chain of horrific events in which two former farm workers – angered because they did not get their Christmas bonuses in time – beat farm-owner Marie Weilbach, 79 into a braindead-coma with a steel-pipe. The two workers then were killed in turn when they waited for her grandson Villjoen in ambush and tried to kill him with a shotgun and a steelpipe. Two dairy-farm workers – Mkhlushwa Khoza and Mbongiseni Hornsby – beat 79-year-old farm-owner Mrs Marie Weilbach into a braindead coma while the retired Boer dairy-farmer was watching a religious TV-programme. Both her hands were crushed from trying to ward off the blows. She's on life-support in a Gauteng hospital – declared braindead.

Earlier this year the young Mr Viljoen had taken over management of the family-farm from his frail grandmother – its ownership dates from 1903 (from the era when the British colonial military forces attacked the independent Boer Republics). Viljoen said that from the outset as its foreman, the farm had struggled to get paid for their dairy-products from their buyers. Eon Viljoen worried about the Christmas bonuses, so two weeks ago their six workers were called together and told by Viljoen that that he would not be able to pay their annual Christmas bonuses before Christmas – but also promised that they would still get the bonuses immediately after the farm got paid by the buyers in the city. They had always received their wages on time; the problem was with the bonuses. "One of the workers at the meeting then reacted very angrily, demanding his money immediately, said Viljoen. "He told me 'you are not wearing a bullet-proof vest, and I am going to shoot you'."

Viljoen said he then hurriedly borrowed money from a friend, called the workers together again and paid them their bonuses. However – he also fired the worker who had threatened to kill them and told the assembled workers that if this man had carried out his threat and Viljoen ' was no longer there to run the farm, they would all have been out of a job'. He said a second worker then decided to quit his job as well. Then these two disgruntled workers started a campaign of terror against the remaining four farm workers and their families which got so bad that the four workers fled from their cottages to the township – one even left with his wife without getting paid. Another fleeing worker stole R800 – his last remaining cash – from Viljoen's wallet before disappearing, he said.

His grandmother – in whose name the family farm is registered – took these threats and all these incidents very seriously and warned him to protect himself – giving him her legally-registered 9mm pistol on Tuesday-nigh (December 21, 2010), he said. "I phoned the two workers Khoza and Hornsby on Wednesday, asking them to come to the farm so that we could find a solution to the problem,' he said. "They both showed up but then demanded more cash payments of R6,000 and R3,000 respectively as 'entrenchment packages'. I told them that I didn't have that kind of money and that they would have to contact their trade union to take the matter up with them to deal with it legally." Khoza and Hornsby then left the homestead and shortly thereafter, Viljoen also went outside to drive his usual rounds before stopping by a hiding-place in the stable to fetch his grandmother's pistol at around 18:20. He immediately wanted to give it back to her for her self-protection.

When he returned to the homestead the back door stood open, he told Beeld. "At that time of the evening my grandmother always feeds her dogs so I did not suspect anything amiss until I walked into the kitchen. The two workers, Khoza and Hornsby were waiting for me – one immediately fired a shot from a shotgun without saying a word, and I fired back at once. Both shots missed. The worker then fired again with the shotgun. Vijoen said he then shot the man with one shot to the head and as the other worker stormed towards him with a steelpipe Viljoen also shot him dead as well. The grandson then rushed inside to find his grandmother –"she is a very religious person and always sat and watched the church-channel on TV all day...' — and found her on her chair, her head caved-in and bloodied; critically injured. He immediately phoned the SAPS and medics from Netcare 911. Mrs Weilbach was rushed to Sebokeng hospital where she was put on a life-support machine. She has been declared braindead, he said. "Why didn't they just wait for me somewhere on the farm ? Why didn't they leave my grandmother alone ?" he said. SAPS constable Makgauta Serathi said they are 'investigating two murder-cases.

Gran Shoots, Kills Intruder

13 June 2011 - An elderly St Francis Bay woman  shot and killed one of two intruders (blacks) in her home early yesterday after they broke into her house and held her hostage. Police said the 72-year-old was assaulted and robbed at about 3am by the men, who were armed with a screwdriver and knife. The attackers gained entry by breaking a window and opening  a sliding door. Warrant Officer Marianette Olivier said the woman had heard a noise inside the house just before the men stormed her bedroom and attacked her. "They confronted her, tied her hands behind her back and blindfolded her, demanding bank cards and pin numbers," Olivier said. "One of the robbers allegedly took her Mercedes-Benz and drove to a nearby ATM, where he withdrew an undisclosed amount of money. While he was drawing the money, his accomplice remained behind in the house."

The nearest ATM is at a local shopping centre about 2km from her home. During the time that the robber was at the ATM,  the woman managed to untie herself when the other attacker left the room.  In a panic, she grabbed her 38 special revolver. "The suspect saw her with the firearm and allegedly ran towards her in an attempt to stab her," Olivier said. "According to her, she then fired three shots at him, but only two hit him." The wounded attacker, whose identity is not known to the police, died at the scene. "His accomplice returned to the house only minutes later and found him dead and her with a firearm," Olivier said. "In a hasty escape, he jumped out of the MercedesBenz and ran away without attempting to confront her." The woman was taken to relatives in nearby Oyster Bay as she was suffering from shock and feared the other robber would return. "She is very traumatised by the incident and still in shock," Olivier said. "Her doctor was called to the house shortly after the attack and treated her at the scene. We have spoken to the family and at this stage they do not want to talk to the media." Police refused to divulge the woman's name, saying she was now part of a criminal investigation. Many residents in St Francis Bay remained unaware of the attack and were alerted only after The Herald spoke to various home and business owners in the area.

Neighbour Andy Nosworthy said he had been unaware of the incident, but said he had wakened at about 3am after his dogs "went mad". "I got up when I heard the dogs barking and turned all the outside lights on," Nosworthy said. "I saw nothing and went back to bed.  Only in the morning did I see that one of our cars in the driveway had been broken into and the radio face was on the ground." Nosworthy said he suspected the attackers had been frightened when they heard the dogs and then scaled the fence into the woman's yard. Her property is relatively unprotected, with only a low wall surrounding the house. Her son-inlaw, who owns a guesthouse in St Francis Bay, only a few kilometres from where the attack occurred, was tight-lipped about the attack, but said she was doing well. "She defended herself and is a very brave woman to have done that."

"We need more people who are not intimidated by criminals," he said. "She is resting at the moment, so understand that she does not want to talk." A case of murder and robbery is being investigated, but  the woman has not been charged. "She is in shock at the moment and once she calms down, detectives will take her statement and take it from there," Olivier said. "Once we have all the details we will take the documents to the Director of Public Prosecutions for a decision on what further action should be taken. "At this stage it appears she acted in self defence, but the investigation will reveal all the details." The woman's car was impounded by police so forensic experts could obtain fingerprints and evidence to help identify the robbers.

White Benoni Woman Shoots Dead Black Male Gunman

One of two black men who broke into a family home in Crystal Park, was shot dead during a gun-fight on July 29. Clyde Meela reports in LookLocal Benoni that the unnamed white home-owner was awakened by the house alarm and her dogs. She was asleep in the bedroom with her two children. She took her gun and went downstairs to investigate. She looked through her living room window and spotted two black men with guns in her yard. When they saw her one pointed his firearm at her, and she raised her gun and a gun-fight ensued, with shots fired through the windows.  She fired off two shots and saw one man fall down. She alerted the Crystal Park police and Community Monitoring Service (CMS) security guards but after a search in the dark they could find neither of the two gunmen.

Later on the same day, at about 7.30am, the gardener arrived and started with his daily duties. He saw suspicious liquid drops on the grass and decided to follow the trail, which led him to the discovery of the body of the shot suspect on the grass. The paramedics were called to the scene and declared the suspect dead. At that point the police were called back to examine the scene with photographers and detectives and a mortuary vehicle arrived to fetch the dead gunman's body. It was taken to the Germiston Mortuary.  The other suspect is still on the run, and the cases are being investigated by WO Riana Erasmus.

Limpopo Farmer Fights Back

Johannesburg - A farmer shot and killed a man trying to rob him of copper cables in Trichardtsdal in the Maake area, Limpopo police said on Sunday. Five men entered his farm around 13:00 on Saturday and struck him on the head with a panga, lieutenant colonel Mohale Ramatseba said. He managed to draw his gun and fire several shots at the intruders. A 30-year-old died on the scene after he was shot. His accomplices ran away without taking anything. The farmer was admitted to hospital with a minor wound. An inquest docket was opened. The four men were still at large.

Man Escapes Nine Bullets In Hijacking

Johannesburg - A 28-year-old man escaped unharmed after his car was shot at nine times during an attempted hijacking in Glenvista on Tuesday morning, Gauteng police said. "When he tried to get out of his yard in his car, four men pointed guns at him," said Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele. A shootout ensued between the hijackers and victim before the gunmen sped off in another vehicle. Patrolling police later found a BMW silver grey car abandoned in an open space in Snake Park in which they found a body of a man with a bullet wound in the chest. Makhubele said the vehicle was used as the getaway car in the attempted hijacking. Investigations revealed that it was reported stolen in Lenasia. Police were looking for three other men in a case of attempted murder and hijacking.

Leading Afrikaners Protest In Pretoria

On Tuesday, June 19 2012, more than 2,000 of South Africa's less than 3,5million Afrikaners undertook a peaceful protest in Pretoria, marching to the Union Buildings to hand in a memorandum against the brutal violence their community is targetted with by the black-African majority. Thirty leading Afrikaners led the calm procession. All the participants were dressed in black. There were no incidents of violence. The Afrikaners also left the procession-route cleaner than it was before their progress through Pretoria.

The same has been said about the Racial Holy War. For the White man to wake up and cease his idiotic, guilt ridden resistance to logic, common sense and the laws of nature, he needs the oppressive whip of violent non-White insurrection. Superguards Protect Farms

Farmers in the Ceres area last week hired private security companies to guard equipment and provide back-up for a police force stretched dangerously thin by explosive protests across the Western Cape. But these weren't run-of-the-mill security guards - they were paramilitary operatives specially trained in handling strike action. Farmers were reluctant to name the companies they had hired, or had been asked by the companies themselves not to mention their names.

Some farmers told City Press they had simply been told security had been provided, but had no further details. The guard outside the premises of Dutoit Agri in Ceres, the largest family-owned farming group in South Africa, had the logo of Vetus Schola protection services on his pullover. Of military bearing and with a foreign accent that suggested he may be from the DRC, it did not look as if the the stern guard's services came cheap. There's a heading on Vetus Schola's website that reads: "High Risk Operations - Strike Handling." Here the company states that, within 48 hours, it can assemble a team of "former law enforcement personnel, as well as military and security agents to provide executive security, site surveillance and non-striking employee protection". Gys du Toit, the managing director of Dutoit Agri, said: "Lots of private security has been brought in."

Du Toit said he had personally spoken to Western Cape Premier Helen Zille and asked for the SA National Defence Force to be brought in to help police during the volatile strikes. About 16 farming areas across the Western Cape flared up after strikes began in De Doorns last Monday. But President Jacob Zuma had not authorised the measure, Du Toit said, and so farmers had no other choice. According to Du Toit, the police simply could not cope with the level of violence and vandalism that was happening in the Ceres area. Robert Graaff, of Graaff Fruit, said he had also hired private security on Monday. He said the high cost of hiring security, added to the losses incurred by damages and the inability to harvest, was an added burden on farmers who were now facing a desperate season.

Johannesburg - AfriForum, local celebrities and the families of victims of farm murders marched to the office of Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Saturday, the civil rights group said. Marchers read out a memorandum which demanded the prioritisation of farm murders as part of a campaign by AfriForum and Solidarity against farm attacks and to promote rural safety. The families displayed photos of their murdered relatives and were joined by other farm attack survivors.

On Thursday, the High Court in Pretoria granted AfriForum permission to hold the march after the police ministry threatened to declare it an illegal protest. "Farm murders are not only a crisis. They are a catastrophe," AfriForum deputy CEO Ernst Roets said in a statement. Roets said farmers lived in unique circumstances in remote areas where the police's reaction time was slow. Farmers were killed in large numbers and even tortured while the government and the department of police refused to acknowledge that there was a crisis, he said. On Saturday, Beeld newspaper reported that 94-year-old Maria Barnard was burnt with a warm frying pan, while her 74-year-old son Hekkie was killed in the attack on their farm in Brits, North West. Her 62-year-old son Nico Barnard was shot in the stomach and Nico jnr 16, was stabbed in the head.

White Farm Labourers Appointed For Less Than Minimum Wage

Unemployed white men now have the opportunity to be employed as labourers on farms for less than the minimum wage - if they are willing to work. After Mildred Oliphant, minister of agriculture, announced last week that the minimum wage for workers will increase to R105 from 1st of March,  a Limpopo farmer decided to make a plan. The farmer, who wishes to remain anonymous, made contact with a few other farmers from across the country because they can not afford the new wage for farm workers. He placed an ad on Facebook, in which he invites white men and women to apply for jobs on farms, "accommodation and other benefits".

Within a few days, and with only an advertisement on Facebook, he was inundated with applications. "More than 500 applications were received," he said. "It looks like we will employ about 100 of these people on farms across the country. All these people are willing to work for much less than the minimum wage. "This project was just an experiment, he says, and they did not expect to get such a response. The ad was particularly aimed at men in white squatter camps who'd like to earn an income. "We appoint only men this time ," he said. "If we continue with the project and advertising, we will try to appoint women and children along with the men. We do not want to separate families. "In response to the announcement that the minimum wage for workers rises to R105, Agri SA and TAU SA issued statements suggesting that some 100 000 black workers will lose their jobs and housing.

Black male attacker shot dead when family fights back: nothing robbed The Witness Durban - A family attacked by robbers in their Southbroom home survived unscathed when a relative surprised the gang and shot one assailant dead. Two accomplices fled said LtCol Zandra Wiid. The husband, wife and their child were relaxing in the lounge of their Southridge Road home on Wednesday night when three men with their faces covered entered through an open door.Wiid, who declined to identify the family, said the robbers demanded cash and cellphones, and started tying up their victims.However, another family member elsewhere in the house locked the door when she heard the commotion and phoned the man's son-in-law, who arrived armed with a shotgun and accompanied by other individuals.When they walked into the house and confronted the gang, the robbers opened fire on them and the son-in-law allegedly fired back.One robber died at the scene and the other two ran away. The family was not hurt.Wiid urged residents to take precautions as crime picks up with the festive season approaching. "Residents are urged to keep security gates and doors locked. Keep valuables out of sight and locked away. Contact numbers of emergency services and family or friends should be kept ready, close at hand, for assistance in emergency situations," she said.

Farmers Thwart Farm Attack - Black Suspect Shot Dead


Amersfoort, Rolfontein farm, Newcastle -- Thwarted farm-attack. One of the black male suspects who ambushed the Amersfoort farm-family upon their return home, were shot dead. Report by Kyle Cowan, 22 Dec 2014 Six black male suspects got far more than they bargained for when they descended on a farm approximately 18 kilometers from Amersfoort late on Sunday afternoon. According to reports, six men, some of who were armed, attacked Rolfontein Farm just after 5.30pm. The exact circumstances surrounding the attack are unclear at this stage. It is believed a shootout ensued between the attackers and local farmers who came to the aid of the victims. It is further believed the suspects were waiting at the home when the farmer, his wife their teenage daughter and her friend arrived home. One suspect was fatally wounded and another injured during the incident.


Jan van Loggerenberg, a paramedic with Life Care Rescue, was one of the first on scene. "The female victim sustained a laceration to her face, beneath her eye," he said. "She was treated on scene." Reportedly the injured suspect was handed over to police on scene, as his injuries did not warrant any further treatment. Captain Braam Robberts of the Amersfoort Police confirmed the arrest of one suspect, and the death of another. "We are currently investigating a case of house robbery and murder," he said. "We have arrested one suspect who will appear in the Amersfoort Magistrate's Court on Monday." He also confirmed that one suspect was shot and killed, but the identity of the shooter had not yet been made clear. "The farmer was not armed. We are currently investigating the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the man's death."
