A manCoon lump of shit who took part in the rape of two European backpackers in Alice Springs in 2012 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Bruce Impu, 20, was a teenager when he and two other offenders approached the Finnish and German backpackers, who were sleeping in their car in a suburban cul-de-sac in Alice Springs.

The three men smashed the windows then repeatedly gang raped the women at gunpoint.

The circumstances of the assaults created headlines around the world because the three accused were 17 at the time of the offences.

Impu was the last to be caught and charged by police, after co-offenders Ginger Green and Norman Kernan were sentenced to 15 years each in 2013 after pleading guilty to sexual intercourse without consent.

Before sentencing, Justice Jenny Blokland said Impu's serious criminal history and "bleak" prospects meant his sentence would be greater.

In one of the assaults, Impu showed "sustained offending of a deeply brutal and humiliating kind," she said.

She described the crime as "depraved" and "cowardly" and noted how it had deeply affected the victims psychologically.

At the trial of Green and Kernan last year, the court heard statements from the two victims, saying the attacks had destroyed their lives.

One victim suffered the break-up of her marriage, while the other developed depression and an eating disorder.

Justice Blokland said all three teens were "principle offenders" in the multiple sexual assaults.

"The victim impact statements show the devastating effects it has had on the victims," she said.

She said the women now have "highly diminished psychological states".

"They were, however, brave during the course of their terrifying ordeal," she said.

"Unfortunately this did not protect them."

Impu was handed an 18-year sentence with a non-parole period of 12 years.

The total sentence for multiple counts of rape equalled 31 years and six months but some of this jail time will be served concurrently.

"I told her she would be safe." This was all AN could think about when she was woken in the early hours of May 2, 2012, to the sound of banging on her car and male voices shouting, "Come out, you pussy." The young German tourist wanted to protect her friend, another young woman, MF, from Finland (these are not their real initials). They'd met in Western Australia and were intending to drive to Cairns via The Centre. They were 28 and 21 at the time.



At around 11pm they had parked AN's Mitsubishi Pajero in the cul-de-sac at the end of Maconochie Road, off Stephens Road at the foot of the MacDonnell Ranges (above, view facing south). It was well lit and there were houses nearby. AN told MF they'd be OK there.


When they were woken, AN tried to start the car to get away, but Norman Kernan was already standing at the driver's door and as the engine kicked over he smashed the window
. Ginger Green ran around the front of the car to join him. Both men had a cloth covering the lower part of their faces.



Green was armed with a rifle and pointed it to the side of AN's head. Kernan reached inside and took the keys from the ignition, then unlocked and opened the driver's door. AN then saw a third man standing back near the Toyota Corolla they had arrived in, stolen shortly before from a house in The Fairway. His face was also partially covered, as were his hands.



Kernan and Green demanded money. AN handed over her wallet with $50 in it, but not before removing $500. They wanted her credit card too. She took it out of the wallet and handed it to them. One of them asked for the PIN and she gave them an incorrect number.



Green meanwhile went to the passenger side of the Pajero, smashed the window and opened the door. MF had been quiet till then. One of the men now grabbed her feet. She was frightened but she didn't want AN to face the men on her own, so she moved into the front seat. She could smell that all three had been drinking and they seemed angry and aggressive.



The third man demanded her wallet: "Money or sex!" She could see Green holding up the rifle. Terrified, she told the third man she had only a credit card. He demanded it and her PIN, but he lost interest when he heard his companions tell AN, "Show us your pussy!" He laughed. "No, no, please no!" AN was pleading.

THE man (Abo )accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a SexyLand worker will appear in court on March 25. 
 
The 19-year-old's case was brought before the Darwin Magistrates Court on Wednesday but was adjourned until next month.

The 33-year-old victim was allegedly forced into her car and assaulted as she left work at Stuart Park about midnight on December 29.

After spotting a group of people as the car drove through Fannie Bay, the woman jumped from the moving vehicle.

The man was arrested and charged just hours after the alleged attack.

TWO women have hurled rocks at two men during a street robbery at Brompton, leaving their victims with head injuries. 
 
The men were sitting in a car near the intersection of Blight St and Hawker St, just before 3am on Sunday, when they were approached by two women asking them for money and cigarettes.

When the men refused the women became aggressive. The men got out of the car and one of the women threw a rock at one of the men, hitting him in the head.

The other man ran off but he was chased down and hit in the head with a rock and had his wallet stolen.

Both men were taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and treated for minor head injuries.

The women were described as Aboriginal. One woman was wearing a white singlet and the other was possibly wearing a pink T-shirt.

Honestly what white women would resort to robbing men and chucking stones at them?

A BRIDE was choked and kicked by her husband on their wedding night, in a sickening case of domestic violence. 
 
The wedding took place in Darwin's CBD on Friday afternoon.

Punters at The Cav said wedding guests enjoyed a few beers at the pub after official proceedings ended.

They said the 28-year-old bride was in good spirits.

However later in the night things took a turn for the worst. It is alleged an argument broke out after the groom insulted his father-in-law. NT Police duty superintendent Louise Jorgensen said he "tried to headbutt and choke the bride" on the car ride home.

"She retaliated by slapping him,'' she said.

"When they reached their home ... the groom threw the bride to the ground and allegedly kicked her.

"Neighbours intervened and the police were called."

Police arrived at a house in Fannie Bay where they found a 29-year-old man in the carport.

Duty superintendent Jorgensen said the man was drunk, had a blood nose and was still wearing his white wedding shirt.

The groom was arrested and was still in custody yesterday.

A domestic violence order was expected to be issued.

Can bet this was an Abbo thing.

THE chips were down for a couple of armed men bloody boongswho got into a fight wielding a stick and an axe after one of them refused to share his packet of Doritos with the other. 
 
Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said police were called to the scene near Darwin Post Office around 2pm on Saturday.

"It transpired that two males began arguing about a packet of Doritos," Duty Supt Jorgensen said.

"Apparently one was not sharing.

"The argument escalated and ... one of the males picked up a stick and threatened the other."

Supt Jorgensen said the other man then "casually got up, strolled over to a witches hat, lifted it up and grabbed an axe which had been hidden underneath".

"He then walked straight towards the other male threatening to hit him," she said.

On duty Transit Officers attempted to break the fight up and asked the man to drop the weapon.

"When he refused they approached and tackled him to the ground," Supt Jorgensen said.

"They held him until police arrived and executed the arrest."

The man was later charged with threatening behaviour and being armed in public
